Chapter 94: Mercy and Might (Part Two)

Yu Zhou sat expressionlessly in the conference room, his eyes closed as if he had long anticipated the arrival of representatives from those people.

Seeing his certainty, even Liu Bing felt a pang of confusion. Why was Yu Zhou so calm? Why, even with the commotion, did he show no change in expression?

Logically, a boss discovering unrest in their factory would be furious, even firing many people to vent their anger.

However, Yu Zhou did not act that way, as if he didn't care about the troublemakers at all.

He also seemed unconcerned about the subsequent gossip surrounding his factory.

In any case, Yu Zhou appeared unfazed, completely indifferent to such matters. This left Liu Bing, and later Liang Xiaohai, feeling unsure of Yu Zhou's intentions.

"What's his backing? How can he be so unfazed?"

"And he seems confident he can handle this. Does this new boss really have that much capability?"

In Liang Xiaohai's mind, this matter was quite complex. It was precisely because of this complexity that even he found it difficult to resolve.

If Yu Zhou could handle it easily, then both for him and for the entire factory, the factory manager's abilities would need to be re-evaluated.

As Liang Xiaohai pondered how Yu Zhou would solve the problem, the workers began to file into the conference room.

Seeing the workers arrive, Liang Xiaohai's expression turned to surprise.

He couldn't fathom why the workers, who had been so aggressive before, seemingly unwilling to back down unless the boss appeared, had actually heeded Yu Zhou's words and sent a few representatives.

The sight of them negotiating with Yu Zhou made Liang Xiaohai feel as though the world had gone mad.

If he had known it would be this simple, would he have exerted so much effort with no result?

"They're here?"

Finally, Yu Zhou's eyelids lifted. He didn't seem to care about their expressions, quietly observing the group of workers before him, his emotions unrevealed.

"Our demands are simple: we want official positions. If the government agrees and provides these positions, we will stop the unrest. Working under anyone is still working, isn't it?"

"But we must have a resolution on the matter of official positions."

Leading them was a burly man, about 1.8 meters tall, who looked as though he was the strongest fighter in the dried fruit factory. His selection was likely due to his imposing physique.

It seemed only this way could the workers find a sense of security.

Upon hearing this, Liu Bing and Liang Xiaohai's brows furrowed. Clearly, in their eyes, such a demand was almost unreasonable and impossible to fulfill.

But why did Yu Zhou show no surprise at this moment?

Heh, he knew these tricks well. This was them trying to demand the moon, and their ultimate goal wasn't really about official positions.

Indeed, he began to leisurely sip his tea, not responding to the big man. This caused the workers who had entered with him to become anxious.

What did this mean? Had he agreed to their demands? Or not yet?

Well, most of them were just workers and couldn't understand the intricacies of the situation.

They were merely pawns, seemingly expendable with little consequence.

For them, gaining benefits was the best outcome. If they failed and were sacrificed, they would still receive compensation.

"Are the people behind you unwilling to come forward, or are they afraid?"

"If only you are here to negotiate, then I have only one thing to say: I will not agree to any of your demands. Instead, I will replace a large number of workers and will not even sign contracts with you."

Finally, after a prolonged silence, Yu Zhou spoke.

As soon as he said this, almost everyone in the room changed their expression, even Liu Bing looked taken aback.

The reform was about Yu Zhou taking in most of the workers.

Otherwise, if they had simply sold the factory, the dried fruit factory would have fetched far more than eight hundred thousand.

What was Yu Zhou trying to do by saying this? Was he planning to discard them after they served their purpose, with no intention of retaining the workers?

If that were the case, the situation would become troublesome. Even Liu Bing's expression soured. He hadn't expected Yu Zhou to say such a thing in front of him.

However, after a moment of thought, Liu Bing began to calm down.

The workers had claimed they needed official positions, as if negotiations were impossible. Now Yu Zhou had a similar demeanor. This clearly indicated both sides were making exorbitant demands.

In such a situation, would they really do as they said?

Well, based on his understanding of Yu Zhou, this was just Yu Zhou trying to intimidate them.

Thinking this, Liu Bing couldn't help but marvel at how the young man possessed the cunning of an old fox. With just a few words, the workers began to panic.

They didn't know if what Yu Zhou said was true.

But if they were truly fired, it would mean the complete destruction of their livelihoods.

This situation was completely different from their previous unrest. If it truly came to that, none of them would be able to shamelessly make any further demands.

Because this was a situation they had created themselves, and there was no way to refute it.

"I must remind you, private enterprises are entirely different from state-owned enterprises."

"It is not illegal for me to create some issues in order to manage the factory efficiently."

"You have already caused trouble, so am I not justified in dismissing people?"

Yu Zhou once again slowly increased the pressure. In an instant, the workers finally panicked completely, lowering their heads and whispering amongst themselves.
