Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Waiting
Nathan Sawyer looked up at her, eyes filled with bitterness.
"He has someone he likes, it’s impossible between him and me."
Serena Yeats held Nathan Sawyer’s hand.
"I think maybe he hasn’t realized who he really has feelings for. Just ask him directly, make things clear."
Nathan Sawyer didn’t look well, she’d thought about asking too, but feared Brandon Grayson might agree because of the child.
She would rather not have such feelings.
What she wanted was his love, not just his responsibility.
She didn’t know why, but from the first glance she was drawn to him.
Seeing Nathan Sawyer so upset.
Serena Yeats was worried sick.
"I won’t push you anymore. You need to help me watch the kids today. I have to go back to the hospital for a check-up, and you’re pregnant too, so learn some parenting skills from the nanny, or else you’ll be caught off guard later."
Serena Yeats didn’t need a check-up, she just wanted to find an excuse to keep Nathan Sawyer there.
She found Old Madam Lancaster and got Brandon Grayson’s number to ask him for a meeting.
When Brandon Grayson received the call, he looked bewildered. Hearing the request to meet up, he was even more flustered.
He didn’t dare delay, and as soon as he hung up, he immediately drove towards The Lancaster Family house.
Serena Yeats was sitting and having some snacks.
As soon as she saw Brandon Grayson come in, she said to Nanny Livingston.
"Nanny Livingston, get him some snacks."
Brandon Grayson stepped forward to greet her.
"Sister-in-law, is there something you need from me?"
"Sit down!"
Serena Yeats glanced at him, a smile on her face.
"I called you here to talk about Nathan."
Brandon Grayson’s face fell.
"Sister-in-law. This matter..."
"No need to rush, I just wanted to ask, you and Nathan had been on a blind date, what do you think of her? Do you have someone you like?"
Brandon Grayson’s expression stiffened.
"I don’t have anyone I like."
Serena Yeats frowned.
"So what do you think of Nathan?"
Brandon Grayson lowered his eyes, he’d always been indifferent, but since that night, her figure had always appeared in his mind.
Serena Yeats was somewhat disappointed.
"Think it through, some people and things, once missed, are truly missed."
This time, Brandon Grayson shook his head more resolutely.
"Forget it, it seems you and my dear Nathan are not fated, I’ll advise her to find someone else."
Brandon Grayson quickly looked up at her.
"Sister-in-law, what do you mean by that?"
Serena Yeats was speechless.
"Nathan likes you, now I know you don’t like her, I’ll urge her to move on, she’ll meet someone better."
After sending Brandon Grayson away.
Serena Yeats returned to her room, and even from a distance, she could hear Yara crying.
She quickened her pace.
When she saw Nathan Sawyer holding Yara.
She was startled and quickly ran over to take Yara.
"You’re pregnant, you can’t hold him, he’s too heavy, you’ll hurt yourself," Serena Yeats said nervously.
"I’m fine."
"Serena, I’m leaving soon, goodbye... who knows when we’ll meet again," Nathan Sawyer said, her eyes red.
Serena Yeats was momentarily stunned.
"Where are you going?"
"I’m planning to find a place where no one knows me to have the baby."
"Do Auntie and Uncle know?"
Nathan Sawyer shook her head.
"Nathan, you..." Serena Yeats didn’t know what to say. After soothing Yara to sleep and putting her on the bed, she gently embraced her.
"Can you stay for one night?" Serena Yeats choked up.
"Serena, you shouldn’t cry, you shouldn’t cry during postpartum," Nathan Sawyer quickly consoled, "I’m almost four months now, if I don’t leave now, I won’t be able to leave. I’ll call you once I’m settled."
The two talked for a while.
Nathan Sawyer reluctantly left.
Serena Yeats thought about her going alone to a strange place while pregnant, and she was uneasy.
Thinking back, that pain during childbirth was something Nathan Sawyer would have to go through too.
What if something happens when she’s giving birth alone?
Suddenly a thought struck her, and she made up her mind.
She picked up her phone and sent a message out.
"Nathan is leaving with the baby today."
The response was immediate.
"What baby?"
For The Grayson Family, finding someone is not a difficult task.
Serena Yeats directly blocked him, not wanting to deal with it.
She took a few photos of the two babies and sent them to Elias Lancaster.
"Elias, can you tell which one’s Yara and which one’s Yuri?"
But there was no response.
Every day after that, Serena Yeats would send messages to Elias Lancaster, but received no reply.
Tomorrow she would be done with her postpartum recovery.
Serena Yeats remembered Elias Lancaster once said he would come back on the day she finished her recovery to give her a bath.
She was so excited she couldn’t sleep all night.
Early the next morning.
Nanny Livingston woke Serena Yeats up and took the two children to the nursery.
After getting up, Serena Yeats had breakfast and went upstairs to feed the babies.
Nanny Livingston and the others looked at her greasy hair, commenting.
"Young Madam, ideally, you should recover for sixty days post-delivery, but from today you can start bathing and washing your hair, but not too frequently.
You still need to take good care, keep your head warm, and avoid catching a cold."
Serena Yeats tended to the children while responding.
Nanny Livingston and Nia Irving exchanged a glance.
The expressions seemed to say.
You should just go wash already!
So.
"Young Madam, why don’t I help you wash?"
Serena Yeats gave her a speechless look.
"What are you talking about!"
Nanny Livingston reminded her.
"Young Madam, you should go wash, it’s noon, the sun is just right to bathe."
However.
"I’ll wash later."
Serena Yeats said directly.
But later came, and it was five in the afternoon.
Nanny Livingston reminded her once more.
"Young Madam, let me draw you a bath, so you can bathe."
Serena Yeats climbed onto the bed, picked up her phone, and started scrolling.
"I’ll wash later."
Seeing she had no intention of bathing.
Nanny Livingston went to Old Madam Lancaster and told her about it.
"Is it that Young Madam isn’t used to bathing anymore, so she doesn’t want to?" Nanny Livingston analyzed.
Old Madam Lancaster led Nanny Livingston to Serena Yeats’s room door, and before they knocked, they heard Serena Yeats scream.
Their faces changed drastically, and they rushed in without knocking.
"Serena, what’s wrong?"
But what they saw was Serena Yeats sitting on the bed, her eyes wide open.
"Serena, what’s wrong?"
They quickly approached and saw the message on Serena Yeats’s phone.
It was a photograph.
Sent by Nathan Sawyer, it was a picture of a marriage certificate.
Serena Yeats laughed joyfully.
She shared the good news with Old Madam Lancaster and Nanny Livingston.
Until that evening after dinner.
She attempted to call Elias Lancaster but couldn’t reach him.
At eight o’clock that evening, Serena Yeats sat in her room, looking at the already dark sky outside, full of disappointment.
He didn’t come back!
Serena Yeats ran her bath and sat in the tub, washing herself.
Seeing the dirt floating on the water, she sighed, she was really dirty.
"It’s good he didn’t come back, or else seeing me this dirty, he’d probably not want me anymore."
"Who said I wouldn’t want you?"
