Chapter 63: Chapter 63: We’ll Wait for You to Come Back
Serena Yeats opened the birth certificate.
Evan Lancaster, Julian Lancaster.
Both names sound really nice.
Serena likes them both.
Then, Old Madam Lancaster handed her two books.
"These are the baby’s little footprints; Elias personally did them."
"Mom, this is so cute."
Old Madam Lancaster looked at her joyful expression, feeling both comforted and tender-hearted.
After all, it was a full day and night of pain for her to give birth to them; these were the golden grandchildren of The Lancaster Family.
"Mom, I need to breastfeed."
Old Madam Lancaster looked at her in surprise.
"Serena, formula is just as good, breastfeeding can be really exhausting," Old Madam Lancaster said.
"No, I want to breastfeed; it’s healthier for the baby," Serena said, suddenly realizing something, her eyes reddening with grievance.
"Did I sleep too long? Is there no milk?" she asked anxiously, "I read in books that milk usually comes within a week after giving birth, I..."
As she spoke on,
tears began to fall from her eyes.
Old Madam Lancaster and Nanny Livingston hurried to comfort her.
"It’s okay, Young Madam, we can hire a lactation consultant, stimulate milk flow, and improve your diet; we can do it."
"Really?" Serena asked with tears still on her lashes, surprised and delighted.
Seeing them nod, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
From then on, Serena endured the daily struggle of stimulating milk flow.
In unbearable pain, she gritted her teeth and persevered.
But she underestimated the skill required for breastfeeding; no matter how she tried, the baby seemed unable to feed, until Buddy starved so much he cried his heart out.
Finally, under the professional guidance of the lactation consultant, the babies began to have milk.
The next day, during feeding, Buddy took forever to latch properly, throwing a tantrum and causing Serena to cry out in pain.
Old Madam Lancaster came over, picked up Buddy, and gave his bottom a couple of gentle taps, making him pause, then he burst into tears, feeling wronged.
Still, it was Nanny Livingston, holding and gently rocking him, who eventually calmed him down.
However...
Since that day, she hadn’t seen Elias Lancaster again, only receiving a call at a fixed time every night from him.
She knew he had something very important to attend to, from seeing his injured leg that day, she knew it wasn’t company matters.
She was very worried, avoiding seeking more information for fear of bad news.
Yet every time she received a call, she would ask Elias, how was the injury? Were things fine?
Receiving affirmative answers, she would also share the stories of the babies with Elias.
Telling him how adorable they were, that Buddy, as the elder brother, cried often and would even bite her while feeding.
Whenever Elias heard that Buddy bit her during feeding, he would get angry, stating that he would deal with Buddy once he returned.
Whenever Serena mentioned Sonny, she felt somewhat upset; Sonny was so well-behaved, never crying or fussing, which often made her wonder if something was wrong with Sonny.
Elias was also surprised; even the doctor had mentioned this when he returned, that Sonny didn’t cry at birth, nor did he cry when the doctor patted him.
Only when Dolae Thorne took him away that day did he let out a single cry, revealing his presence, after which he hadn’t cried since.
Afterward, they discussed their nicknames, simply taking the middle character from their full names: Buddy was called Yara, and Sonny was called Yuri.
Elias was very busy, so busy that he had no time to sleep, only able to concern himself with how Serena was doing now.
Not wanting to know how those two sons were.
Serena complained.
"Elias, I feel like I stink, Mom and Nanny Livingston said I can’t bathe during my confinement period, won’t you be disgusted by me?"
"Serena, no matter how you change, you are the person I love the most, trust me, I will come back on your full month day.
When I return, I’ll help you bathe, definitely making you clean and pleasantly scented."
Elias spoke with sincerity and seriousness in his tone.
Hearing this, Serena blushed, playfully rebuking, "I didn’t have a C-section, I don’t have..."
Before she finished speaking, she heard a loud noise from Elias’s end.
However, she heard only one loud sound before it went silent.
Elias quickly covered the phone, and only after the noise ceased did he say, "The bookshelf just fell over, I’ll go check on it.
If there’s anything you need, just tell Mom and the others; have them handle it. You take good care of yourself."
"Alright, the babies and I will be waiting for you to come back, take care of yourself."
Looking at the disconnected call, Elias sighed helplessly.
Serena’s thoughtfulness made people’s hearts ache, from her words of caution he knew she must have figured it out.
Yet, she didn’t ask anything.
"Master Lancaster, all the people have been restrained."
Meanwhile, back at The Lancaster Family, Serena was clutching her phone nervously, wrapping her arms around her knees, bowing her head in silent tears.
She asked Mom what Elias was doing, but Mom only told her that everything Elias did was for her.
She knew that whatever he was doing must be very dangerous, which was why he wasn’t telling her.
At the same time.
Old Madam Lancaster updated her social media profile.
"Thank you, my dear Serena, for bringing two little treasures into The Lancaster Family; you are our greatest treasure."
The accompanying picture was of a slender white hand holding two tiny hands.
Once this posted, all of Aethelgard trembled, shooting to trending topics in less than twenty minutes.
People were all discussing just who exactly this Serena might be.
Old Madam Lancaster’s comment section was bustling with activity, with even some private messaging her.
[Old Madam Lancaster, did Master Lancaster get married?]
[And already have kids?]
...
Regarding these questions, Old Madam Lancaster completely ignored them, her most important task now being to take good care of Serena.
Ensuring her proper postpartum care, and tending to the two little treasures.
"Waaah..."
Hearing the sound of crying, Serena quickly got up and went to the nursery next door.
Two nurses were taking care of the children, and upon seeing Serena enter, they greeted her.
As soon as Serena heard the crying, she knew it was Yara crying, and took Buddy from the nurse’s arms, gently patting to comfort him.
She comforted him for a good while until he stopped crying, placed Yara on the bed, and played with him using a toy.
Yara still had tears at the corners of his eyes, with a look of grievance.
Soon, he was smiling, reaching out to grab the toy.
"Why do you cry so much, shouldn’t you have switched with your brother? You should be the younger; a big brother shouldn’t cry this much, understand?"
Then, Serena gave kisses to both children.
"Yara, Yuri, do you miss Daddy? Daddy will come back soon; he misses you very much."
As she spoke, Serena’s eyes turned red.
