Chapter 79 - 78: The Truth Like a Blade!

Chapter 79: Chapter 78: The Truth Like a Blade!

Morning at Vista High School.

Chaotic like a chicken farm.

The students’ noise could make a normal person’s brain explode.

Thankfully, Owen is a very patient person.

He high-fives with the students, blending in seamlessly.

He’s the best friend to these students.

The students at school all like him.

Owen is the coach, there’s no training in the mornings.

So, he remains quite relaxed.

While classes are in session, he begins some preparations.

Even though the graduation rate at Vista High is not high, it has a beautiful indoor basketball court.

American sports development is indeed impressive, to say the least.

Especially school sports, in terms of professionalism and other aspects, are top-notch on this planet.

A lot of parents are well aware of this.

To cross class boundaries, sports is a good path.

Some Black kids are truly gifted.

Even if over sixty percent of NBA stars go bankrupt after retiring.

Even if the average life expectancy of NFL players is only 50 years, more than 20 years less than the American average.

But at least they’ve been rich.

Owen carefully inspects the court’s equipment; it’s his habit.

He’s truly dedicated to being a good teacher.

Even though the pay is low.

Suddenly, he catches a whiff of a scent.

This smell is sweet and greasy.

He frowns and quickly follows the scent.

Not long after, he sees four students gathered together.

They have self-rolled cigarettes in their mouths.

"F*ck! What are you doing! Are you trying to ruin yourselves?"

Seeing Mr. Owen approach, the four students are unfazed.

"Mr. Owen, hehe..."

"Teacher, why don’t you join us?"

"This time it’s really good."

Good heavens, are they trying to get the teacher involved too?

Owen’s face contorts with anger, "What did I say before? You, and you! Don’t come to practice anymore!"

The four students are two Black guys, a Mexican, and a White.

Such a mix represents the racial balance of Vista High.

Two of them, the Black ones, are on Owen’s basketball team.

But, right now, they couldn’t care less.

"Teacher, you should try."

"Yeah, try it."

It seems whatever they’ve got is quite compelling, making them lose all sense.

But it’s not over yet.

"Teacher, wanna try this?"

The Mexican student pulls out a bottle of water.

Owen is taken aback.

The white student explains: "This thing is amazing! And, it can cure illnesses!"

"What?" Owen hears "cure illnesses," and his brain feels like it’s been poked with a needle.

"Teacher, don’t you know? Seems like you’re there often."

"Yeah, recently there’s been some sect near the Health Sect."

"Kill-all-illnesses Sect!"

"Right, right, not sure which idiot named it."

"You idiot! Don’t blaspheme the Godly Sect! The Sect Leader is very powerful!"

"Alright, alright, they’re powerful... But, teacher, do you want to try this?"

This bottle is handed over, and Owen, the beloved teacher,

his eyes are filled with panic.

Owen is no fool, he almost immediately realizes this water resembles the water from his Health Sect.

Very similar!

In fact, reaching this point, not concluding the two waters are the same.

It shows how strong the brainwashing skills of the Health Sect’s leader are.

However, Owen is already wavering.

"Where did you get this from? Take me there!"

This shout carries not only anger but also hidden fear.

For the first time, the first time in his life.

Owen fears the truth.

But he also must uncover the truth.

The four high schoolers are scared by Mr. Owen.

Their previous sense of drifting from smoking is completely gone.

"Then, let’s go."

They have no choice but to take the teacher to see what it’s all about.

...

Kill-all-illnesses!

All diseases can be cured (eliminated).

This sect’s name, in English, sounds quite bold.

But isn’t it too boastful?

Does this rubbish sect really have such abilities?

When Owen and his students arrive at this sect’s entrance, his current state.

He’s actually quite shattered.

Almost exactly like the Health Sect.

Even the clothes they wear are similar.

And this sect... they’ve even left the door wide open.

It’s not Owen’s first time hearing about this sect; he heard from other sect members.

But, Owen wasn’t interested.

He didn’t believe other sects could be so powerful.

So he never came to see it.

Now, he finds he may have been wrong.

And that water... actually, Owen himself has never drunk Holy Water.

Because he is very healthy, he doesn’t need Holy Water.

But Owen has donated money to the Health Sect.

It’s a donation he should make.

Of course, the Health Sect’s leader made it clear.

Donations are made out of willingness.

There’s no coercion whatsoever.

Isn’t that great?

In the United States, even living in a community, you still have to donate over 100 US Dollars to the community church every month.

This money, of course, isn’t mandatory.

But if you don’t pay, there will be some trouble within the community.

Everyone donates, why don’t you?

The community’s homeowners association, abbreviated as HOA.

They have significant power; if you don’t pay property fees, they can auction your property.

If you don’t donate to the community church, HOA will definitely come knocking.

What happens next can vary greatly.

So, donating to the Health Sect is perfectly normal.

At this moment, Owen is beginning to doubt his donations.

Was he deceived?

Owen’s mind is actually quite clear.

But, at this moment, he still doesn’t want to believe he’s been deceived.

Just then, someone taps him on the shoulder.

"Hey, Brother Owen, you’re here too?"

It’s Hank, this guy with a stiff and fierce face, trying hard to squeeze out a smile.

"Brother Hank, you..." Owen now has sweat on his forehead.

His expression truly cannot be hidden.

Hank has actually been tracking for some time; he knows what to do next.

"You’re not thinking of apostatizing, are you?"

This remark makes Owen very angry.

"What are you talking about!"

But Hank continues, "Wanna come with me to see the truth of this sect?"

Owen certainly wants to.

Soon, they circle to the back.

This sect, claiming to eliminate all diseases, indeed has the front door open.

But still, bypassing like this, they can see the truth.

Soon enough, a sickly guy arrives.

A young man who looks like an Old Mo, also with a beard and long hair.

Wearing a long beige robe.

He’s holding a bowl of water.

Gives it to the sickly person.

As a result...

"Does it still hurt?"

"It doesn’t hurt anymore! Really doesn’t hurt anymore!"

The followers cheer!

It’s a miracle!

Seeing this scene, how could Owen not feel a sense of déjà vu?

He grabs his head with his hands, as if to tear his hair out.

"Then, then..."

"Look over there."

Hank pointed out.

Turns out, this medicine that eliminates all diseases, is even more straightforward.

Backstage, the sect leader returned, then took a pill from a yellow medicine bottle.

Dissolved it in water.

The yellow bottle, just like the prescription bottles used in the United States.

So, the medicine is something the sect leader bought through formal channels.

So then...

"This, is this..."

"Oxycodone."

"Could it be..."

"I bet the Health Sect’s leader uses the same thing."

Owen listens to this, eyes filled with disbelief.

Hank squeezes out a slight smile.

"Shall we go back and see how our Sect Leader fairs?"

Is there still a need to look?
