Chapter 46: The Void Opens[1]
The fresh air of the morning, how long had it been the last time he could feel this. The man was tall, with long black hair and two horns coming out of his forehead and small black wings..
He wore simple clothes, a thin white cotton shirt with brown pants and was barefoot as he stood atop the peak of a mountain and bathed himself in the sunlight.
Just below the peak three people were busy in their tasks, a tall woman with silver grey hair and horns and wings just like the man, laying down on the grass with her eyes closed.
Not far away from her two children played with each other, both of them had horns and small wings, but the boy had black hair while the girl had black hair with silver streaks.
The man looked down at them and smiled, after a whole month of being busy he was finally free enough to spend time with his wife and kids.
With no effort he jumped off the peak and flapped his wings and landed gracefully near his wife.
"My love, let’s take them to the fiftieth floor next time. But for now I want to see them transform." The man said and walked towards his children.
"Rheagor and Rhenera come here quickly." He said with a wide smile on his face.
Both of the kids looked at him and ran towards him, the girl flapped her little wings and hovered in the air to take the lead from her brother.
He opened his arms and both of them hugged him tightly, just the the mother also embraced them from behind.
They were a happy family of four with no issues, the man was the new Dragon Tribe Chief. As a person of power on the lower floors he had to often visit other floors for meetings, discussions and help.
He stood back and looked at his children as if he was studying them, then he smirked and his body grew slightly. His wings and horns enlarged and so did his height.
"Come on, I want to fly with all of you. I don’t know when I will be back the next time I go out." He said as he flew up and transformed mid air.
His body enlarged and he turned into a jet black dragon, massive enough to shade the side of the peak with his body.
He flapped his wings and gained altitude, just then the woman also flapped her wings and transformed into a silver dragon mid air. Although she was big, but nowhere near the man.
The kids looked in awe at their parents dragon forms and also followed behind. They turned into smaller dragons, the boy was a grey dragon while the girl was a black dragon like her father.
The mother gained altitude as she went higher than her husband and then dived down and started flying on his left side, the kids picked up the pace and came in the middle of their parents.
The man looked at his wife and kids from his eye and smiled, "This was something your grandfather used to do. I couldn’t understand why he did that but now I do. My kids, listen we dragons are said to be prideful and we are but remember that in pride do not forget your family." His voice soft and full of regret made his wife turn her head towards him.
"Dear do not worry, our children are not like your siblings and neither like you in your youth." She replied to calm her husband down.
"Yeah, they’re not. My bad for ruining this moment." He said and smiled towards his children. "Come follow me, I know a spot your grandfather used to take us. Just keep up the pace"
He says with a chuckle and turns to his right and flaps his huge wings to gains speed. The wind almost blowing them away.
The children take on the challenge and increase their speed as well, flying towards their speeding father.
Just as they’re about to catch up the them, thunder roars in the sky as a portal opens and something shoots towards the children.
The mother shields both of them with her body and crashed down into the ground with a huge thud. Rhogar is left in shock as he turns back into his normal form and flies down.
As the dust settles he sees a woman with multiple tentacles standing over his fallen wife, her side bleeding as the kids are crying under her wing.
"Rhogar, it’s time for you to be useful to the Nameless, there are orders for you to take over the tribes of these lesser beings." The woman says as a tentacle nudges his wife.
"What’s the meaning of this? WHY DID YOU HURT MY WIFE?" His rage intensified and he lunged forward to rip her to shreds but she grabbed his arms with her tentacles and twisted them to the other sides, breaking them.
He screamed in pain as he fell to his knees. His wife breathing heavily as she watched how powerless her husband was in front of the woman.
He looks up at the mysterious woman, "if you heal her then I’ll do anything you say." He mutters as he looks at his family.
The woman smirks and she extends her tentacle over his wife’s wound and cuts it off, her blood drops on the wound and it sizzles before closing fully.
He takes a breath of relief as his wife transforms back into her normal form as well as their children. She quickly embraces her children and steps back from the woman.
"Now you need to do what I do you, otherwise next time I would kill her in one strike." She threatened him.
He wanted to scream, to protest against her and to rip her to shreds and eat her flesh but he couldn’t do it. He knew how much stronger than him she was.
He nodded and the woman smirked before he felt intense pressure, a huge tentacle appeared through the portal open above in the sky. With just one tentacle Rhogar couldn’t breath.
"Come on, back off you bastard. I am doing your work for you." The woman screamed towards the tentacle which then went back. She then touched her ear and nodded as if she was talking to someone.
Then she sighed and put a hand on her head, "Rhogar, I hate to do this but the higher ups want me to bring your wife and daughter with me as security that you will do what is asked."
She didn’t even let him speak and moved, her movements were so fast that no one could figure out what happened.
She grabbed the daughter and mother and flew towards the portal. She had made them unconscious. Rhogar despite his arms being broken flew behind them.
He flew desperately towards his wife and daughter, this was wrong he didn’t want to get separated from them but he was simply too weak.
As the woman passed through the portal the giant tentacle slammed into his making his lose conscious.
The portal closed as Rhogar fell from the sky, his eyes opening and closing.
