Chapter 48: Beyond The Void

Chapter 48: Beyond The Void

Becca supported Rain as she fended off the Nameless offspring’s. She saw Xior fighting against the Nameless alone, no one dared to step forward it.

No one dared to defy the oppressive aura gnawing at everyone but the man dearest to her was doing that.

Thunder roared in the sky as Xior attacked the Nameless alone, his body bloody and battered as it was continuously broken and healed.

His white hair was now red, just like her own and his eyes were bloodshot surrounding the endless black irises.

She left Rain with Tharnak and started running towards Xior. Despite the fact she wouldn’t be able to do anything, her legs moved on their own.

And she found herself running towards Xior, she wanted to grab him and teleport out of here. She lost him once but she won’t lose him again, being away from Xior took away the color in her life.

She leaped in the air and attacked the Nameless offspring’s continuously being multiplied. Dozens got swept away in her attack.

Just as she was near Xior, she saw the Nameless hit him with its tentacle and open its grotesque mouth, swallowing Xior into the endless abyss inside of it.

All the strength in her body left her, she fell face first onto the bloodied snow tasting dirt. She got back on her knees as she helplessly looked at the Nameless who had devoured Xior.

Tears streamed down her face as she clutched on the snow beneath her, the worst thing she had thought of happened and she couldn’t even do anything about it.

A chair materialized beneath Xior, he was pushed upwards and sat on it in a weird manner. The Nameless woman looked at him quietly, her eyes noticing each and ever detail of his body.

His heart beat, his blood pressure, his temperature–everything was noticed by her. He looked at her and then at his surroundings.

A grey fog surrounded both of them, in the middle they sat on chairs materialized out of the same fog.

"What do you want me to say?" Xior asks as straightens his posture.

He knew if he showed fear he would die here, so he put on a poker face despite being in agony over his parents.

The Nameless looked at him and smirked, "I like the confidence despite you being anxious and scared." She chuckled as she said that.

She saw through his bluff so easily, he thought that he might not have any chances of saving everyone but in the events of it being a possibility he would continue this bluff.

"And how can you tell that I’m anxious and scared?" Xior questioned.

"Your body is telling me all that I need to know, your heart beating faster than normal and your hand shaking ever so slightly." She replied and tilted her head.

"Then tell me why do all this? Why talk when you can wipe out me and my companions as you wish." Xior replied his voice full of confusion.

"Child of the End, you have something my master wants. That’s why I haven’t killed you right now." She replied.

Xior was confused, this was not the first time he heard himself being called the Child of the End. What did that mean, he thought. Why was he called that, he did not know.

Seeing his confused expression she understood that he was clueless about what that entailed.

"Forget what I said, just remember you have something which my master wants." She corrected herself.

"Something I have? I’m an orphan who lived in a shelter all his life and spent the last five years trapped in the Abyss...WHAT DO I EVEN HAVE?" His voice roared throughout the fog.

"Memories!" She said as his memories started playing in front of him.

"What kind of person is your master that he wants the memories of an orphan?" He said as he looked at him four years old with his faceless parents walking around him.

"My master is one of the Great Old Nameless, He is The Devourer Of Memories–Mnethis. And he wants a certain locked memory inside of you."

Just then a silence wrapped around them, Xior was in deep thought as he continued to listen to the Nameless woman.

He used his fire rune and covered his hand in fire, ready to attack her. She kept on singing praises of her master while Xior waited for the right moment.

Just as she finished her sentence, he lunged forward his hand stretched to pierce her skull but the grey fog clung to his body and restricted his movements.

"Trying to attack me inside my domain? How stupid, The Monarch has chosen a really idiot human as his inheritor." She mocked as Xior was thrown on the ground hard.

He coughed out blood, he was out of mana. That was his final gambit, he lay on his back and looked in the grey fog, his regeneration skill had overworked and now it was slow since he didn’t have any mana left.

He groaned as his recovery was slow and much more painful than a fast one. The Nameless woman just looked at him without doing anything, she knew he would die and then it would be easier to take him to her master.

Xior coughed violently but then a system screen popped up in front of him.

[You have one unread personal message]

[Would you like to read it or not?]

He moved his head slightly and the system screen distorted and became bigger.

[This might be a little bit too early for us to meet hehe, but it seems like you’re in a difficult situatoin. And it happens to be that I can help you with it. Say, want me to help you? ]

The personal message felt like a text from a teenager girl, he had accepted that he would die so he agreed to the mysterious person.

As soon as he did, a bright light erupted from Xior’s body. The Nameless woman cried in pain as she backed away.

The whole grey fog crumbled away as Xior’s body tore though the body of the Nameless and fell towards the ground wrapped in a bright light.
