Chapter 64: Chapter 64 (Inspiration capsule Extra Chapter)
"Save it. There are too many like you—showing up time and again to ask about Junior Sister Liana," one of the peak disciples sneered.
"Don’t flatter yourself. Who is Junior Sister Liana, and who are you? Still dreaming of chasing after her? Just go home and sleep early," another added disdainfully.
The two disciples crossed their arms, eyes cold and lips curling into condescending smiles.
Ethan had seen such attitudes before from countless such disciples and his patience was thinning.
A low voice whispered close to one of the peak disciple’s ears, "Young man, it’s unwise to get angry."
Startled, the disciple spun around only to see Ethan standing just behind him, a faint smile on his lips.
Ethan’s hands firm on his shoulders, he said calmly, "I suggest you take a good look at yourself, and by good look I mean take a good look at your own status. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself offending the wrong people."
He gave a light pat and stepped back, turning away with measured grace.
The disciple staggered, his legs suddenly weak, his vision blackened, and he collapsed on the ground, caught between life and death.
"Junior Brother Gray, what’s wrong?" A companion disciple right beside him knelt and hurriedly helped him up.
Looking around bewildered, they searched—but Ethan had vanished—as if he had never been there.
"Did you see a man in blue coming this way?" one asked.
"A man in blue? Who’s that? Everyone on the peak has blue robes?" the young woman shook her head, baffled.
"Am I possessed by a spirit?" the man muttered, confused.
They hurried off with Junior Brother Gray, a strange unease haunting them.
Meanwhile, Ethan was already halfway up the mountain path, his heart surprisingly light.
He thought, Liana’s standing and status on the peak must be very high indeed.
That was only natural—she was a born genius, already a Nascent Soul cultivator at her age.
Her speed of cultivation rivaled even Seraphina’s in their youth.
Beyond talent, Liana’s skill in refining medicine was rare and sought after.
Ethan felt a pang of respect and cheeky speculation—could Liana, in time, outshine Seraphina as a saintess?
It was a pity she was young and had born to late to become the saint. If she and Seraphina had been contemporaries, the region’s saintly legacy might have fallen differently.
Lost in thought, Ethan was abruptly stopped by two young women blocking his path.
Both carried the unmistakable aura of peak disciples—they had the poise, the figures, and the beauty that commanded attention.
The short-haired one blushed slightly as she spoke, "Senior Brother, may I ask your name?"
"My name is Ethan," he replied simply, noticing they wore Peak robes.
"And your name, Junior Sister?"
"Olarion," the younger said softly.
"Junior Sister Olarion," Ethan began, "I am looking for someone. Might you know where she lives?"
The girl’s eyes flickered briefly before she nodded. "Senior brother just ask, If she is a disciple here, I can probably help."
"Where does Junior Sister Liana live?"
Olarion hesitated a moment, then offered directions: "Go straight up, then turn right. You’ll find a courtyard beyond a bamboo forest. That’s Junior Sister Liana’s place."
Her tone turned cautious.
"I advise you senior brother Ethan, not to approach Junior Sister Liana’s courtyard. It is her private area, and ordinary male disciples dare not trespass."
Curious, Ethan asked, "What happens if one goes near?"
"Bad luck," she said flatly.
"Interesting. Thank you, Junior Sister." Ethan cupped his hands and resumed his ascent.
Behind, Olarion sighed softly.
"So, he’s looking for Junior sister Liana."
"Who can compare?" her companion murmured.
"Her suitors stretch from mountain top to valley floor."
"But Senior Brother Ethan is handsome..." Olarion’s voice trailed off.
"Let’s not dwell," her companion urged, and they turned to leave.
Following the directions, Ethan turned onto a winding path.
The forest thinned, and he found himself alone, embraced by swaying bamboo.
It was peaceful — too peaceful.
He reached the forest’s exit and then froze.
Voices.
Ahead, a dispute rippled through the calm.
By a distinct courtyard, a man and woman faced each other—stenched in tension.
The man wore a black robe that marked him a disciple of Voidshade Peak. His long hair framed a handsome but arrogant face.
Opposite stood Liana, her silver hair shining with ethereal light, her slender figure poised, but her brows drawn in clear displeasure.
"Allen, how many times must I tell you? I am not interested. Stop pestering me!" Liana said icily.
Allen smiled in return, undeterred.
"Junior Sister Liana, I only wish to share techniques of refining medicine, as Uncle Magnus has agreed."
"My father is my father, and I am myself," Liana retorted sharply. "If he has agreed then go to him; I have no interest in you."
She pinched her waist, irritation barely held.
Allen had evidently bought favor with Liana’s father, setting this forced match. Allen was no ordinary disciple—ranked among the youngest top fifty of the Azure Origin Dao Sect, gifted and powerful, just like his brother Sam, he is also a direct disciple of the peak master of the Voidshade peak
Ethan watched quietly.
His talent in medicinal refinement was respected, but Liana had no tenderness for him.
"Liana," Allen said quickly, "I hear you’ve been searching for fire-attribute treasures. I just happen to have some. Interested?"
Liana frowned slightly, eyes narrowing.
Ethan caught the tension in her voice—a clear sign that her search was earnest.
In these parts, fire-attribute materials and elixirs were scarce and prized beyond measure.
Despite the wealth of the Peak, only a handful of fire-aligned herbs and treasures were within easy reach.
Liana’s difficulties were real; her collection painstaking.
As for Ethan, he still lacked much in the way of fire-attribute resources to fully fuel the blue flame’s evolution.
Hence, she’d spread the word to other peaks, hoping to acquire more.
And unexpectedly, the first to approach had been Allen himself.
