"Ah! Someone's dead!"
At the same time and place, as she slowly came to her senses and stood up, Zhu Ling brushed aside the fallen maple leaves around her.
"Someone's dead! Someone jumped off the building!"
The voice was a little distant but familiar. She slowly stood up. The ground was covered in maple leaves, and the clouds in the sky were dark, like the calm before a heavy rain, or as if the entire sky was shrouded by something, blocking out the sun.
Time rewind?
Impossible. The only thing in this world that could achieve a time rewind was the Yellow Springs water from the River of Forgetfulness, and such a thing couldn't possibly be here.
She repeated the actions from the last time she woke up and walked towards the noisy intersection.
"Miss, would you like to buy an umbrella?"
She turned around. It was the same Fūchi-Rei who had wanted to leave.
"Miss, it's going to rain. Buy an umbrella."
"No, thank you."
"Ah," the middle-aged woman said, a hint of disappointment in her voice. "No? It's going to rain. Then you should go home quickly, miss."
Zhu Ling turned and walked away.
She didn't join the crowd but looked up at the tall building.
On the rooftop, a tiny figure.
She could feel the malicious gaze directed at her.
Playful.
Instead of getting angry, Zhu Ling smiled.
Her gentle and indulgent smile, to the person on the rooftop, was naked mockery.
His hatred deepened.
The woman rushed over and grabbed her hand. "Ah Ling, what are you doing here? Come home with me quickly!"
Everything that followed was the same.
However, as she got into the police car to leave, she stopped them. "Can you wait a moment longer?"
The police were confused but listened to her and paused.
The next second, a large truck sped out. This time, it didn't hit them but crashed into another car parked nearby.
"My damn car!"
She contained her emotions. "Alright, let's go."
The police were baffled.
But with something happening right before their eyes, they couldn't just leave. They made a call to the fire department and then got out to evacuate the surrounding residents.
They left only after the fire trucks arrived.
On the way, they encountered three more traffic accidents.
However, due to the delay in their departure, the butterfly effect meant that subsequent disasters had nothing to do with them.
The police didn't seem surprised.
As the woman had said, there were too many disasters in this world.
So many that they no longer paid much attention.
Upon arriving at the police station, Zhu Ling went through the motions of explaining what had happened after she woke up, but the officer pointed out that it was before that.
Her memory only began after she woke up, so she couldn't explain clearly.
The people at the police station felt helpless.
But since they couldn't get any information, they could only let her go.
As Zhu Ling walked out of the police station, a car stopped in front of her. The door opened, and a young man in a suit stepped out. "Miss Jiang, our boss would like to see you."
Zhu Ling's first instinct was that it was that little guy.
So, she got into the car without hesitation.
Then, a gun was pressed against her head.
"Did you say anything?"
"No." She slowly turned her head. Sitting beside her was Jian Yan, who had changed his appearance again, or rather, Chong Yan.
"Then why are you smiling?"
Zhu Ling didn't answer. She narrowed her eyes, observing the world outside. It was chaotic, desolate, lifeless, and devoid of hope.
This was something he had created, or rather, something he had imagined.
It should be able to change with the fluctuations of his consciousness.
She suddenly knocked the gun out of his hand and pinned him against the car seat. The bodyguard next to them reached out, but he was instantly dissolved by the golden light emanating from her. The driver in front and the bodyguard with the gun in the back also disappeared screaming under the illumination of her golden light.
"You..."
She sealed his lips with a kiss.
Chong Yan instinctively tried to escape.
However, surrounded by golden light, he was merely a wisp of a remnant soul and resentment. He couldn't escape at all. The more he struggled, the more painful it became.
"Let me go, what are you doing!"
He wore a custom-made suit, and his demeanor was cold, yet he couldn't shake off the softness of this life. Once he took off his glasses, his imposing aura diminished by more than half.
Zhu Ling seized the opportunity, pressing him against the seat for an indescribable act.
Slowly, the surroundings changed.
The bizarre world outside vanished. They seemed to have fallen into an endless abyss, entwining and making love in the abyss, forgetting time and space.
The trembling of their souls intensified. He couldn't suppress the two previous consciousnesses, Song Yan and Jian Yan, both resisting him.
While resisting desperately, he was also involuntarily immersed.
Finally, he succumbed completely.
Time ceased to exist.
The entire world stopped.
...
As the clouds dispersed and the rain ceased, she leaned closer to his ear and repeated, "I'll come find you..."
