Her palm could shatter internal organs, and though Xiao Chongyan's incomplete soul was strong and not easily killed, he was now half-dead.
She searched her spatial dimension for a long time before finding a medicinal pill with moderate efficacy, one that wouldn't cause him to explode if he took it. She forcefully stuffed it into his mouth, helped him take off his shoes, and put him on the sofa to sleep. Then, she sat down beside him.
It was the fifth day since the apocalypse. Father Xiao and Mother Xiao had already turned into zombies and were cannon fodder. There was still some food in the house, but they couldn't stay here forever.
Once the people and zombies were gone, this place would become a ghost town.
And to leave, Zhuo Ran couldn't just conjure a sword and fly into the sky; they needed a car.
With that thought, Zhuo Ran stood up and walked outside. At the doorway, she turned back and quickly formed hand seals, protecting the house.
It was noon.
Zombies roamed everywhere outside. Most ordinary people were still hiding at home, thinking the army would resolve the situation, kill all the terrifying monsters, and save them.
Some people had also started to flee.
But now zombies had appeared all over the world. Unless they could reach the Antarctic, they would have to face them. The army was not omnipotent; they had to save themselves.
Zhuo Ran had no specific destination and wandered around outside. When she encountered zombies, she dealt with them. She didn't use her spiritual energy, casually taking out a sword from her spatial dimension and slashing like she was cutting watermelons, all while looking for things.
Anything useful and unclaimed was taken by her.
Many shops had been looted, their doors and windows smashed to pieces. The items inside, especially food and drinks, were completely gone. Some places were even on fire, but no one cared.
Everyone was struggling to survive.
After searching for a long time, she found a relatively intact store. As she pushed open the door, a zombie with an eyeball hanging out lunged at her.
Zhuo Ran pierced it with her sword, flicked it up, and sent it flying. The zombie's internal organs spilled out, but it wasn't dead. It crawled up from the ground, dragging its entrails, and continued to lunge at her.
Zhuo Ran: "..."
She swiftly delivered another blow, this one slicing off half of its head. The zombie fell to the ground and didn't move.
Zhuo Ran detoured around it with disgust and entered the store. Perhaps because of its secluded location, or perhaps because someone had discovered the zombie inside, the goods were still there.
She nimbly collected the items from the shelves into her spatial dimension. After some thought, she took out a few loaves of bread and two packs of instant noodles, along with two bottles of mineral water, put them in a plastic bag, and carried them outside.
Most of the cars parked on the road had been damaged, scorched, smashed, their windows broken, keys missing... in short, they couldn't be driven.
Zhuo Ran, somewhat dejected, took a different route home.
As she neared her destination, she was targeted.
Three people, two men and one woman, stared covetously at the items in her hand. Among them, the older woman feigned politeness and asked, "Girl, where did you find this? Do you have any more?"
Zhuo Ran pointed in the direction she had come from: "Over there, there's a small supermarket. There's still food inside."
The man snapped, "Are you lying? We've searched this area. If there was any, would we need you to tell us? If there really was more, why did you only take this little?"
Zhuo Ran's smile turned sinister, "I'm willing, okay?"
"I don't care where you found it. Give us what you have, and we'll let you go."
"Oh," Zhuo Ran's smile became even more beautiful, "And if I don't give it to you, what do you plan to do?"
The woman, whose expression had been amiable moments before, was the first to rush forward, trying to snatch the plastic bag from her hand.
Zhuo Ran seized the opportunity, raised her leg, and kicked.
"Ah!"
"Bang!"
She had held back her strength slightly, not kicking the woman to death, but it still took half her life.
The man also lunged forward. Zhuo Ran easily dodged his attack, not even using her full strength. As usual, she kicked him again, sending him flying far away. He curled up on the ground, groaning incessantly.
The boy, who was only in his teens and had remained motionless until now, finally showed fear when he saw how powerful she was. He ran over to help the woman up, and they then helped the man.
During this time, he kept looking at her defensively. Only when all three had managed to stand up and she showed no intention of pursuing further did they suddenly turn and run.
Zhuo Ran watched silently the entire time.
Human nature.
She shook her head and walked away.
