Chapter 9: Power

Chapter 9: Power

He focused on his spell, and it quickly wove a Dark Flames Circle in front of him, from which the Dark Dragon emerged, coiling around its master and resting its horned head close to his right shoulder.

At the sight of it, Han’s maids halted for a moment and looked at their young master’s spell. The pressure it exerted was beyond that of an Acolyte Dark Warlock. It seemed semi-intelligent as well, though they weren’t sure if it was their imagination or Han’s doing. The dark flames flickering on its horns were the most intriguing. They felt capable of laying waste to anything.

Xena narrowed her eyes. He said he had been crippled. It could be that his mana kept growing despite being sealed, since he’s a half-dragon. He might be the strongest Acolyte right now, though that’s still so lame. Strongest Acolyte? She smirked.

Oblivious to everyone’s thoughts, Han sent his dragon forward. It slithered at the speed of a car and drove its muzzle into the nearest half-breed. It was a one-shot. The Dark Dragon slipped past frantic claw attacks and tore through other half-breeds, then ducked away from the adult, more powerful bears.

"Oh, wow! Young Master Han is so amazing!" Xena said.

"Shut up, bitch. Or rather, be honest," Han retorted.

"You could have finished them all if you focused on their vital points, fucking idiot."

"Slap yourself, bitch."

"Ah!" Xena’s right hand slapped her cheek against her will. "You fucker!"

"You think it’s easy to control my Dark Dragon? It’s hungry as hell," Han replied, explaining that his spell carried characteristics of his dragon and human lineage.

It wanted to dominate others and take its sweet time while doing so.

"You don’t know about vital points, do you?" Xena smirked.

"I do," Han replied. I aimed to be a doctor in a much more advanced world, bitch.

He turned back to the battlefield. Now that Han’s dragon had appeared, the monsters stopped their brawl and started sniffing for enemies. Only seconds separated him from fighting them head-on. By now, he realized that his Dark Dragon wasn’t strong enough to deal with many full-fledged bears.

That said, Han wasn’t done yet.

He looked over his shoulder at Xena.

She sneered. "Want me to deal with ’em?"

He sneered back. "Nah, you will fulfill your role as a furnace now."

"Oh shit—Aaahh!" Xena screamed as the Obsidian Cauldron Tattoo on her stomach flared, her mana and essence gathering there and burning.

She clutched her stomach and dropped to her knees, shivering.

Han’s Dark Flames Circle appeared in front of her. It expanded into a circle that could swallow at least three adult humans at once or teleport them to a different world. The flames ominously flickered until the Second Dark Dragon peeked out of the circle, then slithered out and claimed its spot beside Han.

Han stood still, his blood boiling. Bro, you are so fucking big.

It felt like the truck that had killed Han had pulled up beside him, except this truck had long horns and eyes filled with Dragon’s Pride. It also listened to him, and that was the most important detail. The Second Dark Dragon eyed the adult bears, then looked over at Han for the decision.

He nodded. "Kill them all."

The Second Dark Dragon howled, rattling the monsters. Without hesitation, it rushed forward and sped faster than a supercar toward the strongest enemies. Once close, it opened its jaws wide and devoured the first adult bear in a single bite, its claws snapping to bits within the dragon’s mouth. Other bears flailed their claws, but they couldn’t cut through the Second Dark Dragon’s body formed from Xena’s dark mana.

After gobbling down its first prey, the Second Dark Dragon tilted its head to the side and sucked in the second bear, munching on it like a snack.

Xena lifted her head and laughed. "You see the difference between us, trash? You—"

"Quiet, or I will just use you as a cauldron and not let you vent on monsters."

Xena immediately swallowed her words.

When all the monsters in the vicinity died or fled, Han unsummoned his dragons and let Xena catch a break. He looked at their performance and was quite satisfied, yet the fact that it was Xena’s mana that did the most damage rubbed him the wrong way.

I really need to catch up to others fast. There’s no telling when others will realize I’ve awakened and become a Dark Warlock.

Han looked over his shoulder. "You will fight the next batch. I want to see what your spells do and what your essence is."

Xena smirked. "Can’t learn anything from the one you extracted from me?"

Han replied, "I studied it with what I had on hand and confirmed it’s related to souls."

Xena inwardly spat. Is he a fucking genius, or are the resources he received from Tenaxis’ Head loaded with too much knowledge? Even if he has all the resources, it should have taken him more time... fucking trash is quickly shedding his built-up rust.
