Chapter 1644: Chapter 1644: You Just Need to Trust Me
Watching, Rui Hui became quiet.
The anger and worry from earlier seemed to dissipate significantly.
She nodded obediently, “I trust you.”
“Then be good and eat your breakfast. After eating, I’ll take you back.” After Diwu Zexuan finished speaking, he pressed the intercom and ordered quite a few dishes to be delivered to the room.
A table slowly filled with delicious food, Rui Hui sat in front of it, her stomach growling, wanting to eat everything but unsure of where to start.
“When you’ve been hungry for too long, you can’t eat too much all at once or you’ll have trouble digesting. Drink some milk first, then eat some bread.” Diwu Zexuan said, reaching for a slice of bread, spread some cheese on it thoughtfully, then handed it to her.
“I want meat!” Rui Hui looked disdainfully at what he was holding, refusing to take it, and pointed forcefully at the steak, with a face full of anticipation.
“Drink the milk first, then eat the bread. Once you have something in your stomach, you can slowly start with the meat.” Diwu Zexuan insisted, stuffing the bread into her little mouth, raising an eyebrow.
“So rigid at such a young age, you’re really boring!” Rui Hui grumbled, taking the bread and taking a bite, chewing and swallowing it.
Her actions were swift, finishing the bread in a few quick bites, then her big eyes were staring intently at the steak on the table.
“Go ahead, eat slowly, no one is going to take it from you.” Diwu Zexuan’s lips curved into a wicked smile, watching her indulgently.
Without another word, Rui Hui began to eat heartily.
She needed to replenish her energy from last night’s exhaustion to have the strength to face reprimands when she got home.
…
A brand new set of clothes, tailored to Rui Hui’s size, was already delivered on the table in the room.
Rui Hui paused slightly when she saw the dress.
Looking at the man helping her dress, she couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling.
How in just a few days did they go from archenemies to this…
“What are you thinking about?” Diwu Zexuan noticed her daze, reaching up to pinch her cheek.
“Ouch.” Rui Hui covered her cheek with her hand, glaring at him.
How could she think he had changed? Clearly, he still loved to bully her.
As Rui Hui was pondering this, Diwu Zexuan suddenly reached out and pulled her into his arms.
“Don’t doubt what happened yesterday, and don’t be afraid of what’s going to happen. As long as I’m here, just trust me.”
“…”
A slight warmth filled Rui Hui’s heart, like an unspeakable comfort coursing through her veins.
Before they even left the hotel, they saw Duke approaching from afar with some people.
Seeing Rui Hui held in Diwu Zexuan’s arms, Duke rushed forward and swung a punch at Diwu Zexuan.
Before the fist could reach him, Diwu Zexuan dodged.
He put Rui Hui down and lifted his head proudly.
Just as Duke was about to throw another punch, he glanced at Rui Hui in Diwu Zexuan’s arms, and his fist paused.
“Rui Hui, are you okay?” Duke’s expression softened when he saw Rui Hui.
The next second, noticing her changed dress and their tightly clasped hands, his eyes darkened.
“What’s going on?”
“This is something that Colonel Duke doesn’t need to concern himself with.” Holding Rui Hui’s hand, Diwu Zexuan shielded her, glanced at Duke’s group, and turned to walk away.
“Rui Hui, you disappeared from the banquet last night. I’ve already notified the Adolf family. Everyone is looking for you.” Duke’s gaze landed on Diwu Zexuan, his eyes growing darker.
He was only playing dumb. He wasn’t truly oblivious to who the man in front of him was.
Diwu Zexuan, the man who once had an engagement with Rui Hui.
