Chapter 18 Still More Masters

Yun Lang searched the contents of the ring from the gladiator he had encountered. Besides a small amount of spirit stones and treasures, there were some cultivation techniques and elixirs.

However, neither the techniques nor the elixirs were of high quality.

Yun Lang shook his head indifferently and transferred the contents of the ring into his own.

Just as he was about to discard the ring, Yun Lang hesitated at the moment he made the move.

After some thought, Yun Lang wiped the ring clean and placed it on Zhao Wan'er's slender finger.

The ring was too large for Zhao Wan'er's slender finger, so he could only temporarily put it on her thumb, making it look a bit strange.

"This is for you, to store your sweet cakes in," Yun Lang chuckled.

Zhao Wan'er was still cautiously keeping her eyes closed. She hadn't forgotten Yun Lang's instructions earlier; she was not to open her eyes without his command.

"Benefactor, can I open my eyes now?" Zhao Wan'er asked softly.

Upon hearing Zhao Wan'er's question, Yun Lang realized that the young girl had indeed been obediently keeping her eyes shut. She was quite well-behaved at this moment!

"You can open them," Yun Lang said calmly.

The moment Zhao Wan'er opened her eyes, she saw the object on her thumb.

The gladiator had been unremarkable in appearance, but his storage ring was quite flashy. A normal storage ring was just a band, but his had a low-quality green gem attached to it.

Zhao Wan'er had not seen much of the world and was somewhat interested in the gemstone ring, excitedly touching her finger. "What is this thing?"

"It's a bag for storing things. You can put your leftover sweet cakes in it later," Yun Lang explained.

"This is clearly a ring, how can it be a bag? Benefactor, you're tricking me!" Zhao Wan'er did not believe him.

"It really is for storing things. See for yourself if you don't believe me." As Yun Lang spoke, he circulated his spiritual energy and stored the remaining sweet cakes into it.

Zhao Wan'er watched in astonishment as the sweet cakes in Yun Lang's hand vanished. She had known before that these masters who practiced martial arts were incredibly powerful, but she had never truly grasped the extent of it. Now, she finally understood.

"Wow!" Zhao Wan'er's eyes sparkled, and she looked at the ring on her finger with curiosity. "My sweet cakes really went in?"

"They really did. Watch, I'll take them out for you again." Yun Lang chuckled and took the sweet cakes back out.

Now Zhao Wan'er was completely convinced, happily touching her storage ring.

Yun Lang suddenly remembered that even if he gave the storage ring to Zhao Wan'er, it would be useless.

Zhao Wan'er was an ordinary person and had no spiritual energy, so she naturally could not activate the storage ring.

Although storage rings could hold items, for ordinary people without spiritual energy, they were no different from regular rings.

"It seems I need to find a cultivation technique for this little girl to practice, otherwise she won't even be able to use a storage ring," Yun Lang thought to himself.

Yun Lang led Zhao Wan'er a bit further. It was getting late, and although Zhao Wan'er had eaten two sweet cakes in the afternoon, they weren't very filling, and she soon became hungry.

Fortunately, they had left Sunrise City. Outside, there were mountains and water, making hunting convenient.

Yun Lang caught several fish without much effort and roasted them all.

However, it was a pity that this meal was destined to be interrupted. Before they had finished their roasted fish, another commotion arose.

Yun Lang immediately extinguished the campfire and carried Zhao Wan'er up a large tree.

The sudden change startled Zhao Wan'er. She was still holding a half-eaten skewer of roasted fish, unsure whether to eat it or not.

"Hush." Yun Lang made a gesture to Zhao Wan'er, who immediately and obediently closed her mouth. She saw a group of people rush out from not far from where she had been sitting. They were wearing what looked like the guards of the Wang family!

The Wang family?

Why were the Wang family people here? Yun Lang frowned.

However, he then remembered that when he left the inn, he hadn't been entirely sure if he had completely dealt with those Wang family guards he had encountered.

Perhaps Yun Lang's previous attack had missed something, allowing some guards to survive.

That person had likely rushed back to the Wang family to deliver the message after Yun Lang and Zhao Wan'er had left the inn.

What the Wang family didn't expect was that Yun Lang had gone to the gladiator arena halfway, delaying his journey. If they calculated it carefully, the Wang family's speed of leaving the city might even have been faster than his.

This explained the direction from which the newcomers had arrived.

Yun Lang pondered this, and in a moment, he had figured out all the twists and turns.

He took a rough look. The Wang family guards were not very skilled. The strongest among them was only at the second level of the Foundation Establishment realm. Dealing with them would be as easy as slicing through vegetables.

"You stay up here and sit tight, and obediently close your eyes." Yun Lang gently set Zhao Wan'er down.

Zhao Wan'er leaned against the large tree and nodded nervously.

Because of her previous experiences, Zhao Wan'er was still a bit fearful at the sight of the Wang family's attire. Her small hands clung tightly to the tree trunk, and tears welled up in her big eyes.

"Don't be afraid, it will be over soon," Yun Lang whispered comfortingly, then leaped down from the tree.

"Are you all looking for me?" Yun Lang asked loudly.

In fact, Yun Lang didn't need to say anything more. The moment he jumped down from the tree, he had already attracted the attention of all the Wang family guards.

"It's Lin Lang!"

"He really came after us."

"Lord Xu's predictions were accurate! Lin Lang, your life is forfeit!"

"Quick, fire the signal flare!"

...

The Wang family guards immediately charged towards Yun Lang. Yun Lang shook his head helplessly.

Since these fellows recognized his identity, surely they wouldn't forget his past exploits?

Although his strength had not yet reached its peak, he was already somewhat famous in Sunrise City.

Where did these people get the confidence to fight him?

Yun Lang was puzzled, but his movements did not stop. The moment he jumped down from the tree, he had already drawn his sword from his storage ring.

"Buzz..."

With a single swing of his sword, without even using any special techniques, Yun Lang swept away all the Wang family retainers.

"Bang..."

A bright signal flare exploded in the sky. In the pitch-black night, the flare was extremely conspicuous.

Yun Lang's gaze fell on the remaining retainer. He had forgotten about this fellow earlier; it was a grave mistake.

Yun Lang immediately followed up with another sword strike. This ordinary retainer was naturally no match for him and fell to the ground, only able to whimper pitifully.

The battle had started quickly and ended just as swiftly. Yun Lang was about to catch Zhao Wan'er when he suddenly stopped.

Something was wrong. There was another, peculiar force!
