Chapter 391: Worse Condition

Chapter 391: Chapter 391: Worse Condition

"Well, let’s do a check-up first and see how it goes depending on your condition," Philip said, asking for Chantelle’s opinion as he opened the research site door.

Chantelle quickly nodded. "Let’s decide after that."

She turned and looked at Daniel, as if waiting for his opinion. But before Daniel could answer, Philip said, "No need to ask Daniel. He came to Carcosa because of you. He’ll go wherever you go."

Chantelle chuckled and said, "Let’s do the check-up then."

Philip whispered, "Why doesn’t Chantie believe me? Do you have a lover here in Carcosa, and Chantie caught you?"

Daniel glared at him and walked into the examination room.

Soon, the report came out. Russell handed it to Chantelle first. "Your body is in worse condition. You’ll need more time to recover."

"Daniel, your health is really bad. Look at your injury. That stomach illness of yours will kill you if you don’t treat it," Philip said loudly, exaggerating his tone.

But he was telling the truth. Philip had stomach problems himself. He also took medicine to control the poison, which was harsh on the stomach. Now, Daniel’s condition had gotten worse.

"How long will it take before I can take the medicine?" Chantelle asked. She thought it would be like in the movies, where people could leave right after taking an antidote. She felt annoyed that she had to recuperate with Daniel.

Philip wanted to speak, but Chantelle only looked at Russell. Russell answered seriously, "This medicine has three treatment phases. It will take about a month to completely cure the poison. With your current condition, it’s best to rest for a week before starting the medicine."

"So long? What about him?" Chantelle frowned and pointed at Daniel.

Daniel stood there without any expression.

"Mr. Wilson’s condition is worse. His dosage has to be reduced because of his stomach illness," Russell explained.

Chantelle let out a sigh. "Russell, take the medicine and come with me. The rest of you stay here to treat Mr. Wilson."

"I don’t agree." Daniel was the first to object.

"Ms. Chantelle, I suggest you stay here and receive treatment together. This medicine does have side effects," Russell advised.

Chantelle took a deep breath and ordered, "Go and pick up Xander and the children."

"I’ll go too!" Philip quickly followed Russell. He also called Thea and asked, "Do you know why Chantie is quarreling with Daniel?"

"Are they quarreling?" Thea asked, completely unaware.

Philip shouted, "Why do I even need you?"

"Shut up if you don’t have anything nice to say!" Thea snapped in anger.

Philip quickly softened his tone. "My dear Thea, can you ask Chantie what happened?"

"Why should I? Chantie will tell me when she feels like it."

"Then I won’t tell you their situation."

"Sure. I’ll ask her right away." Thea changed her mind immediately.

At the research site, Alexander was busy studying the medicine in front of him. Only Chantelle and Daniel remained in the lobby.

"I heard Russell say this medicine might be able to cure your old illness," Daniel said, referring to Chantelle’s struggle with losing control of her emotions.

Chantelle replied, "My anxiety has almost been cured."

"Chantelle, can you not do this? You can hit me or scold me, but please don’t talk to me so coldly," Daniel begged her.

Chantelle rarely saw him act like this. But now, Daniel could hardly make her feel sorry for him.

"Mr. Wilson, I won’t beat you or scold you. But if you ever put my children in danger again, I will make you pay."

"It won’t happen again. I promise."

Daniel panicked. Chantelle’s tone made it sound like she was ready to cut ties with him for good. He even thought about telling her the truth about what happened yesterday. But before he could speak, Chantelle said, "I hope you keep your promise, Mr. Wilson. Don’t make any excuses."

Daniel had indeed made a mistake. When it came to their children, any explanation would only sound like an excuse.

Daniel suddenly fell silent. He felt depressed and sad. Chantelle could sense his emotions even without looking at him.

"Ms. Chantelle, Mr. Quinn’s condition makes it hard for him to move," Russell said by Xander’s bedside, looking troubled as he called Chantelle.

Meanwhile, Philip stood nearby, smiling smugly at Xander.

Philip had heard Daniel mention Xander before, saying he was a good friend and the godfather of Kane and Stephanie, whom the children often talked about. Philip had followed Russell this time because he wanted to see what Xander looked like.

But when he finally met him, Xander’s face was wrapped in gauze, so Philip couldn’t see much.

When Philip asked Stephanie about Xander’s injuries, she told him what had happened yesterday. Only then did Philip understand why Chantelle had been ignoring Daniel.

In Philip’s eyes, Daniel deserved it this time.

What could be more important than his wife and child? On top of that, Daniel hadn’t even won Chantelle over yet, and he had already messed things up.

Even though Philip mocked Daniel, he still had to help him win back his wife. If Chantelle left Daniel, Philip knew he would be the one to suffer because of Daniel’s temper.

When Chantelle received the phone call, she instinctively looked at Daniel before replying softly, "Is it still not possible even if you move Xander carefully?"

"Ms. Chantelle, Mr. Quinn just woke up, and his body hasn’t fully recovered. After this serious injury, he should stay in bed," Russell said. He had known Xander for almost five years, and he spoke for the sake of Xander’s well-being.

"Got it. I’ll come over now." Chantelle decided to check on Xander personally. If Xander really couldn’t move, she wanted to talk to him first before going back and starting the medication with peace of mind.

Before Chantelle could hang up, Alexander walked over. "Chantelle, one of your physical indicators is off. Come with me so we can reexamine it."

"Ms. Chantelle, I’ve spoken to Mr. Quinn. He asked you to focus on your treatment at the research site. He’s doing well. Stephanie and Kane have decided to stay with him. Railer wants to take care of Mr. Wilson," Russell’s voice came through the phone again.

Chantelle hesitated for a moment. Xander urged her, "Chantelle, we can’t delay any longer with your condition. We need to give you the medication right away. Otherwise, even if you recover, there could be future complications."

Russell also stepped in to persuade her after hearing Xander’s words. "Ms. Chantelle, listen to Xander. We’ll arrange for someone to care for Mr. Quinn. We’ll inform you immediately if anything happens."

"Alright then. Make sure Calvin protects the villa," Chantelle said heavily before hanging up the phone.
