Chapter 367: Chapter 367: I Heard Your Voice
When Chantelle woke up, the room was empty. The silence made her nervous. Her heart quickly sank.
Did Trenton catch me after I passed out? What about Daniel? Did he get caught, too?
She didn’t think about anything else. She got off the bed quickly, but pain shot through her body as soon as she moved her legs.
She took a deep breath and slowly pulled out the IV needle. Then, with bare feet, she stepped onto the floor and started looking for Daniel.
As soon as she reached the side of the bed, a few doctors wearing masks walked in. She didn’t recognize any of them. A chill ran through her.
They must be Trenton’s men.
"Ms. Chantelle, why did you pull out the needle? Lie down, I’ll fix it for you," one of the doctors said as he walked towards her and tried to make her sit back on the bed.
Chantelle suddenly grabbed him by the neck, and her hands wrapped around his throat.
"Where’s Daniel?" she demanded.
"Mr. Wilson is next door," the doctor answered, stunned.
He felt her grip tighten. In his mind, he thought, She’s really strong... she could snap my neck any moment.
"Bring me to him!" Chantelle shouted. She couldn’t stop thinking about what Trenton might have done to Daniel while she was unconscious.
"Ms. Chantelle, you can’t see Mr. Wilson right now. Please finish your IV drip first," the doctor said, standing in her way.
Chantelle increased the strength of her grip around his neck. Her eyes swept over the other doctors in the room. "What have you done to Daniel?"
"We just gave him some medicine... he..." a young doctor tried to explain.
Chantelle stood there in shock.
What did Trenton give Daniel this time? she wondered. He already has the virus... and he breathed in poisonous gas at the castle. How can he survive all of that?
It was all because of her. If Daniel had left her behind, he could have escaped that secret chamber.
She couldn’t let him face this alone.
"Tristan! You sick bastard! I’ll kill him!" Chantelle growled. She dragged the doctor with her, using him as a shield, and forced the other doctors out of the room. Then, step by step, she walked out.
"Ms. Chantelle... what are you doing?" the doctor asked carefully as he trembled.
"I’m going to find Lord Trenton and get the antidote," she said coldly. "If he can’t cure Daniel’s virus, then we’ll all die together." As soon as she finished speaking, she kicked the doctor hard in the shin.
The doctor stayed still, too scared to fight back, but he looked confused. "What Lord Trenton? Ms. Chantelle... I don’t understand what you’re talking about."
"Don’t play dumb. If Daniel gets hurt, I’ll destroy this whole place. Now tell me, where’s Lord Trenton?" Chantelle said, pulling the doctor’s hair with one hand while tightening her grip around his neck.
She needed to find Daniel immediately.
"I don’t even know who Lord Trenton is! How would I know where he is?" the doctor cried out in pain.
Just then, a young doctor smirked and said, "Ms. Chantelle, just go back to your room and finish your IV. Otherwise, you’re the one who’s going to suffer. Why fight so hard for a man?"
"He’s mine. Anyone who touches him will pay for it. Now shut up and move," Chantelle sharply retorted as she reached the next room.
Just as Chantelle was about to open the door, the young doctor spoke. "Ms. Chantelle, does that mean you’re willing to risk your life for Mr. Wilson?"
Chantelle turned around. Everyone was staring at her, waiting for her answer. She frowned and asked, "Why are you talking so much?"
The young doctor smiled. "If you care about Mr. Wilson that much, I can show you the way. I admire people who value others."
Chantelle stared at him suspiciously. Then, she glanced at the other doctors.
Finally, she looked at the doctor she was holding. She pulled down his mask. His face wasn’t familiar at all. But judging from their reactions, none of them seemed like Trenton’s men.
Trenton’s men were never this patient. They were rough and violent. There was no way they’d let her hold a doctor hostage for this long.
Chantelle let go of the doctor. Instead of running, he stood beside her, coughing. "Mrs. Wilson, your hands are really strong," he said.
Mrs. Wilson? Then... these people were Daniel’s men?
"Mrs. Wilson, you still haven’t answered me," the young doctor said. "Did you risk your life to fight Lord Trenton because you love Mr. Wilson?"
Chantelle let out a small laugh. "Yes. I love Mr. Wilson very much. I’m willing to do anything for him. Just take me to him or to Lord Trenton. After that, you can do whatever you want with me."
The doctors looked shocked by her answer, but their expressions changed as if they remembered something. They lowered their heads.
"Ms. Chantelle, you really like to joke," the young doctor said awkwardly.
Chantelle reached out and held his chin. "You’re not bad-looking. That’s not a loss for me. Let’s go."
Without waiting, she dragged the young doctor toward a room. He panicked and grabbed onto the door frame, trying to stop her.
"That’s enough!" a sharp voice shouted, making everyone freeze.
Daniel stood at the door with a dark expression. He had wanted to hear Chantelle’s love confession, but it took a turn he didn’t expect. Even though he knew she was just teasing the doctor, he still felt upset.
"Come in," he said softly.
Chantelle turned to him as her smile caught his attention. She looked him over carefully to check if he was hurt. Seeing that he was fine, her anger faded, and she smiled softly.
The doctors looked at them with confused expressions, but they fell silent. They didn’t dare interrupt the couple.
"So, Mr. Wilson just woke up?" Chantelle asked, raising her eyebrows. Her voice sounded annoyed.
"Yes. I heard your voice," Daniel said.
"Sorry for disturbing you. Go back to sleep," Chantelle replied, turning away.
But Daniel pulled her into his arms, just like he did back at the castle. Her heart started racing.
"I can’t sleep without you beside me," he whispered.
