Chapter 83 Charging Headlong (880~930)

Chapter 1 The Door Kicks Down

Though sturdy, the room's door couldn't withstand Fang Senyan's full-force kick. It flew backward, dragging chunks of plaster and concrete nails from the wall, crashing against the opposite wall with a splintering sound. A clear, shattered indentation marked the center of the wooden door. Fang Senyan slid into the room, pulling Li Xianhai along, and bolted into the inner bedroom. A hail of bullets arrived a moment too late, leaving only burning holes in the carpet and walls.

The room they'd fled into had no balcony, just a large bed and some furniture. Fang Senyan had sustained several minor injuries, losing nearly thirty points of health. Ignoring the pain, he pulled out his "Endless Vodka" metal flask, tipped it back, and took a long swig, exhaling a satisfied breath filled with the aroma of liquor. This replenished his lost health and activated his "Drunkard" title, drastically increasing his critical hit rate.

Li Xianhai, realizing he had been led into a desperate situation, wore a grim expression. Fang Senyan looked at him, smiling slightly.

"Mr. Li?"

Li Xianhai, though despairing, maintained his composure, forcing a smile.

By now, the robbers had reached the doorway, cautiously advancing, wary of an ambush. Fang Senyan used the lull to speak.

"You should see by now that I mean you no harm, otherwise you wouldn't have survived this long."

"Thank you," Li Xianhai said, his demeanor still cultured despite his hopelessness.

Fang Senyan, ever observant, understood the man's thoughts. He shrugged and said casually, "I'm only twenty-two. Do I look like someone who's suicidal?"

Li Xianhai looked surprised when something smoking flew through the air – another grenade. Having witnessed Fang Senyan's ability to kick away grenades, the robbers had deliberately held this one for three seconds before throwing it, ensuring it would explode at chest height, killing anyone crouching, standing, or lying down.

What these robbers didn't know was that Fang Senyan's perception was several times sharper than a normal person's. This grenade certainly posed a threat to his life, so he had sensed it coming early on. He jumped up, intercepting it like a volleyball player, and the grenade seemed to fly right into his hands. Before it could fall, he punched it back.

Before Fang Senyan even landed, a massive explosion erupted in the outer room, followed by ear-splitting screams. Fang Senyan smiled at Li Xianhai, revealing his pearly white teeth.

"Stay here."

For some reason, Li Xianhai, a man who could face death with equanimity, felt an indescribable chill run down his spine after seeing Fang Senyan's smile. Then, Fang Senyan pushed off and shot outside. The screams outside died down in an instant, vanishing into silence within seconds. Combined with the distant gunshots and shouts, an indescribable and eerie stillness filled the air.

Not long after, Fang Senyan, covered in blood, returned with a blond-haired, blue-eyed foreign bodyguard. The bodyguard's left arm was badly wounded, crudely bandaged with a piece of torn cloth tightly wrapped around his arm. He saw Li Xianhai and exclaimed in surprise,

"Boss, you're alive!"

Seeing a familiar face, Li Xianhai's anxiety eased. He smiled and said,

"Well done, Dick. What about the others?"

Li Xianhai rarely praised anyone, valuing composure and depth. Dick was delighted by the compliment, but his face darkened at the last question.

"They're all dead. If it weren't for…"

He looked up at the calm Fang Senyan, unsure how to address him, assuming he was a hidden ace Li Xianhai had been holding back. He said respectfully,

"This gentleman's sudden assistance saved me from certain death."

Fang Senyan smiled and tossed them two bottles of purified water.

"The robbers are chasing the other two groups who escaped. Mr. Li, you can rest and have some water. Dick, bandage your wound. We should expect another fierce battle soon."

Dick asked in surprise,

"Now that the robbers are stretched thin, why don't we take the chance to escape?"

Fang Senyan sighed.

"These guys aren't just robbers. They're not after money. They're after blood! And judging by the scale and organization of this attack, it's a carefully planned operation!"

Several bodies lay scattered on the ground. Dick flipped them over one by one, searching for medical kits while identifying them. After examining a few, he looked up, his face grim.

"Boss, these guys are all Malay soldiers!"

"I see…" Fang Senyan realized. Everyone always said America had serious racial tensions, but the ethnic conflicts in Southeast Asia were even worse. The anti-Chinese sentiment in Southeast Asia had never stopped, only fluctuating in intensity. The reasons were complex, and the most influential and bloody anti-Chinese incidents were the 1998 Indonesian riots. Besides that, there were the Shah Alam riots, the Black March incident, and frequent smaller riots and disturbances.

The domestic situation in Singapore seemed to be unstable, so this attack looked like a robbery, but was probably a political power struggle within Singapore. The losing side refused to accept defeat and launched a murderous plot out of spite!

Fang Senyan suddenly said,

"Then, it seems Mr. Li is their key target?"

Dick nodded.

"The new Prime Minister, He Jiren, is Boss's cousin. If Boss dies here without leaving any will, the family will inevitably fall apart. Without the family's financial support, Prime Minister He won't even last a full term in office."

Just then, the door opened and another Malay soldier, searching the room, rushed in. He was about to raise his gun when Fang Senyan dashed in front of him with a sliding step. This man was a well-trained soldier and knew that if he let the enemy knock his gun aside, he'd be in mortal danger. He immediately dropped his gun and drew a military dagger, stabbing forward with ferocious speed.

Fang Senyan wasn't particularly agile, making close-quarters combat difficult for him, but his grappling skills had reached Lv2. With a flick of his wrist, he grabbed the incoming military dagger. The blade cut into his palm, but wouldn't budge. The Malay soldier was horrified when he felt a powerful force from the hand holding the dagger. He couldn't hold on to it and it was snatched away. At the same time, Fang Senyan slammed his knee upward, sending the soldier flying half a meter into the air. Fang Senyan's left hand, gripping the stolen military dagger, flashed out, slicing across the soldier's throat. The Malay soldier didn't make a sound before flying backward. The smooth cut on his neck sent a spray of warm, red blood across the wall in a gruesome arc.

At that moment, another soldier burst in, raising his gun to aim!

Fang Senyan reached out and yanked the gun, causing the soldier to stumble forward. The gun fired wildly, the bullets tearing into the carpet with "hissing" sounds, sending fragments and fibers flying. Fang Senyan leaned against the man's back, and the man immediately fell to the ground, stiff and motionless. His eyes were wide open, as if filled with resentment. Dick rushed over for a quick examination, then turned to Li Xianhai and said grimly,

"He was stabbed in the heart from behind. Instant death."

Li Xianhai said calmly,

"What do you think of his skills?"

Dick's eyes showed admiration.

"Extremely strong. Of all the people I've seen in my life, only the special forces instructor in Africa could compare."

Fang Senyan turned back, beckoning them to follow. Despite having one arm, Dick showed great military discipline, quickly collecting the ammunition from the dead soldiers' rifles and tossing one to Fang Senyan. Fang Senyan caught it and tossed it back. Dick was surprised to see Fang Senyan say casually,

"That's useless to me. You take it and follow with Mr. Li!"

With that, he lowered his center of gravity and charged forward, heading straight for the auction hall he had just fought his way out of! Dick was confused but could only follow. The auction hall only contained a few gunmen, who were mostly looting the corpses. Fang Senyan charged straight through, a raging bull mowing down everything in his path. Anyone hit head-on was sent flying a meter or two into the air, tumbling and writhing on the ground, likely crippled even if they weren't dead.

Taking advantage of the chaos in the hall, Dick used his single hand to fire accurate shots, taking down the panicked and wounded as easily and pleasantly as shooting stationary targets in training. Fang Senyan smashed open a door and used it as a shield, clearing the path with unstoppable force. He didn't head for the elevators, but sprinted toward the stairs through the fire exit. Dick secretly praised him, then supported Li Xianhai to escape downstairs, only to be stopped by Fang Senyan, who said calmly,

"We're going up."

Dick was stunned, but Li Xianhai's eyes showed approval. He made the final decision.

"That's right, we're going up!"
