Chapter 4 The Intention of Space

Chapter 4 The Purpose of the Space

Under the combined assault of the three, the unfortunate Orc Priest's health plummeted rapidly. A Half-Orc Priest was still a Priest, and could not escape the inherent weakness of low health for magic-based classes. However, just as it let out a miserable howl and collapsed, it dropped a key that gleamed with a silver light!

Fang Senyan and Reef hadn't expected anything from this guy's loot. Besides, a silver storyline-quality key wasn't anything special to them, so they didn't rush to grab it.

Unexpectedly, when that gloomy woman saw the gleaming silver key, her eyes lit up. She stretched out her thin hand and clenched it in the air, and the silver storyline key flew toward her!

"Oh?" Fang Senyan said in surprise. Neither he nor Reef had expected anyone to dare to snatch food from a tiger's mouth!

Fortunately, the silver key wasn't flying very fast. Fang Senyan immediately leaped up and snatched the silver key back. The gloomy woman's eyebrows shot up as she said sharply:

"Very good, very good."

The middle-aged, refined man said in a deep voice:

"Irina, you're no longer the team leader. If you don't correct your old habits, you'll find it difficult to move forward."

Irina cast a cold glance at Fang Senyan and Reef.

"Franklin, mind your own business."

Reef was about to speak, but Fang Senyan had already summoned the treasure chest with the silver storyline key. He reached in and pulled out a staff radiating a silver glow! Judging by its appearance, it was the very bone staff that the Half-Orc Priest had been using.

Fang Senyan was quite surprised after looking at the staff's attributes, because they looked quite impressive, not at all like something that a stingy little boss could drop.

Note: Maintaining a healthy financial state is the first priority when wielding this staff.

For Fang Senyan and Reef, this weapon was just barely passable, but for others, it was already a rare and valuable item.

Reef saw the greedy light in Irina's eyes and sneered inwardly, waiting for her to make the first move and try to snatch it. Fang Senyan, of course, knew what Reef was thinking, and didn't stop him.

However, Irina wasn't an idiot. Seeing Fang Senyan and Reef's confident appearances, she couldn't help but feel suspicious. For a moment, the situation became awkward.

Just then, a series of shouts and cries suddenly came from outside. Fang Senyan and Reef walked out silently and saw that this place was actually a mountain hollow surrounded by shrubs, grass, and some broken tree trunks lying haphazardly on the ground. They were worn smooth, probably used as stools by the Half-Orcs.

The entire area was filled with a rotten, bloody stench, and chewed bones could be seen everywhere.

The shouts came from the west. Soon after, they heard two loud clangs of metal colliding, followed by two soft thuds as if two broken sacks had fallen to the ground. It sounded as if something had been knocked away.

Then, there was a clanging sound, clearly the sound of magic-enhanced knight armor colliding. This was followed by a very muffled thud, as if someone were violently swinging something heavy and cumbersome like a tree trunk.

The next second, Fang Senyan and the others saw a Half-Orc, not knowing whether it was alive or dead, flying out diagonally. It flailed in the air before crashing heavily to the ground. Its eyes were wide and its tongue was sticking out, a miserable sight. Dark red blood was gurgling out from under it.

Just as the dead Half-Orc landed, several more Half-Orcs fled in terror. However, several snake-like lassos flew out from the bushes. Some missed, but two caught the fleeing Half-Orcs around their necks. With a yank, the two unlucky ones were lifted into the air like kites and dragged into the bushes.

Then, a beautifully crafted bronze war club swept in with a dull whoosh!

The war club was incredibly thick. Though its name contained the word "club," it was more like a mace, just without the barbs. It cleanly smashed another Half-Orc's head, turning it into a rotten watermelon.

Then, the guy wielding the war club emerged from the bushes... crawled out.

Yes, the word "crawled" was not used incorrectly. It really was crawling.

Because this mighty man who was sweeping through the battlefield and slaughtering everything in his path was at most only one and a half meters tall. He had a big red nose, a braided beard, exceptionally sturdy muscles on his arms, and a body that had developed horizontally. He didn't look ridiculous, but rather solid and stable.

Yes, this was a Dwarf.

A heavily armored, two-handed war club-wielding Dwarf warrior!

The Dwarf looked around, then walked to the entrance of the wooden shed. He saw the head of the coachman, Mr. Pombo, and immediately covered his face with his hands, kneeling on the ground and sobbing. It seemed he and Mr. Pombo had a close relationship.

Next, people gradually gathered from all directions. After a while, a man with shoulder-length golden curly hair and a black velvet cloak appeared. He strode over, the scabbard at his waist clanging against the chainmail he wore.

The Dwarf warrior looked back and said sadly:

"Mr. Wright! We've recovered all of our goods, but Mr. Pombo was killed by them!"

Wright sighed.

"Little Gimli, take heart. In the short lives of us humans, life and death are frequent occurrences. Your uncle entrusted you to me so that you could experience the joys and sorrows of this world."

Then he looked up at Fang Senyan and the other three.

"Are you travelers who were also hijacked? Winter is coming to the Misty Mountains, so the Half-Orcs have been raiding everywhere. We only managed to retrieve most of the goods they stole. Alas... what are your plans now?"

Franklin stepped forward first, placing a hand on his chest and bowing.

"Respected Mr. Wright, I am now without a path to take. I hope you can be kind enough to take me in."

Wright shook his head slightly.

"My caravan doesn't need any more manpower right now, but our destination is Rivendell—currently a paradise for merchants on the continent—their festival requires a large amount of supplies, so I can take you to the outskirts of Rivendell. I think you can easily find a caravan there that needs people."

Clearly, if they had saved the coachman, Mr. Pombo, they could have directly joined Wright's caravan and entered Rivendell. If they hadn't, they would only be able to go to the outskirts of Rivendell, where there should be a series of tasks that needed to be completed to gain entry.

Franklin bowed.

"Thank you for your kindness."

Next, the woman, Irina, had no choice but to follow the caravan as well. Just as Wright was about to ask Fang Senyan and the others, another group of people surged in. This group was clearly made up of Contractors, and it seemed they had already organized themselves, but they were still chaotic and somewhat disorganized.

Seeing the situation, Fang Senyan immediately said to Reef in the team channel:

"I know what the Space's intention is in arranging this world for us. Remember the circumstances of our first encounter? Because our team currently only has two people left in this world, we've triggered some kind of hidden condition, so some Contractors whose teams have been scattered, or guys who like to go solo and haven't joined a team, will be assigned at the beginning to replenish our team members!"

Reef thought for a moment.

"You're right, that's very possible. But what about us being trapped when we first entered the world? It felt very strange."
