Chapter 7 Yu Mansion

The white-robed young man was quite talkative, telling Liu Le'er some interesting anecdotes about the city along the way. However, the girl was somewhat absent-minded and only responded with a few casual words.

The group passed through several streets and soon arrived at the central area of Mingyuan City.

This place seemed a bit quieter, with clean roads and no shops on either side. One wide mansion after another stood in close proximity, clearly the residences of the city's aristocratic families.

After walking a bit further, the group arrived outside a vermilion mansion.

Unlike the other buildings in the city, this mansion occupied a vast area. The vermilion gate, about two zhang high, looked imposing. Two stone lions, each over ten feet tall, stood tall at the gate, which was covered with shiny copper nails that glistened in the sunlight.

On each side of the gate stood a brightly armored guard, dressed the same as the previous guards, but holding long spears and standing solemnly.

Everything here demonstrated the power and status of the owner.

A huge gilded plaque hung over the gate, with the two gilded characters "Yu Mansion" written on it.

Liu Shi looked up at the Yu Mansion, but quickly withdrew his gaze.

Liu Le'er looked at the mansion in surprise, feeling a little apprehensive.

She had never seen such a large mansion. Judging from the appearance of the gate, the Yu Mansion must have a very high status in Mingyuan City, probably closely related to the Feng Kingdom's court.

"Liu, what's wrong?" The white-robed young man seemed to notice something and asked gently.

"The Yu Mansion is so big, and there are so many guards. It's not an ordinary family, right?" Liu Le'er said with a forced smile.

"You are very clever. My father is the Prime Minister of the Feng Kingdom, so there are some guards and courtyards in the mansion. Otherwise, how could we afford to have a real immortal master stationed here?" Yu Qi replied nonchalantly.

Liu Le'er couldn't help but widen her eyes when she heard this.

The Confucian-robed youth had a proud look on his face when he saw this.

"Seventh Young Master, Second Young Master!" Seeing the group approaching, the two guards at the door hurried forward and bowed in greeting.

Yu Qi nodded slightly to the two men and led Liu Le'er and Liu Shi through the gate.

"Seventh Brother, you insist on bringing two outsiders to the mansion. Be careful that Father finds out and gets furious. Don't blame me for not reminding you." After entering the Yu Mansion, the Confucian-robed youth snorted coldly and left with a flick of his sleeve.

"Ignore him, please come with me." Yu Qi smiled charmingly and led Liu Le'er and Liu Shi in another direction within the mansion.

The Yu Mansion had a vast area, with pavilions, terraces, gardens, and cloisters everywhere.

The ground was paved with high-quality jade stones such as white jade and green jade, smooth as a mirror and as hard as iron, showing the luxury of a wealthy family.

Yu Qi seemed to be very prestigious in the Yu Mansion. The servants and maids they encountered along the way bowed in greeting, and some even knelt on one knee.

Seeing this, Liu Le'er glanced at Yu Qi's back, her bright eyes rolling around, wondering what she was thinking.

She and Liu Shi followed behind Yu Qi, naturally attracting the attention of many people. Especially Liu Shi's strangeness was even more eye-catching, but these people seemed to be afraid of Yu Qi's prestige and dared not look too much.

Before long, the three arrived at a long corridor, and a tall maid in a green dress walked towards them.

"Young Master, you're back." The green-skirted maid showed a happy smile when she saw Yu Qi and trotted over.

"Xiao Wu, there are distinguished guests here. Don't be so unruly," Yu Qi scolded in a deep voice.

The green-skirted maid, Xiao Wu, stuck out her tongue, not afraid at all, unlike the previous servants.

Yu Qi glared at the green-skirted maid helplessly, then said, "Xiao Wu, you've come at the right time. These two are distinguished guests I've invited, Miss Liu Le'er and Brother Liu Shi. Go to the west wing and tidy up a courtyard for them to rest in."

Xiao Wu noticed the two behind Yu Qi. Liu Shi's strange blankness surprised her, but when her eyes fell on Liu Le'er, her beautiful eyes immediately lit up, and she said with a giggle, "Wow, what a beautiful little sister!"

"Liu is my distinguished guest, you must not be rude! Please forgive Xiao Wu's abruptness. She is my personal maid," Yu Qi scolded, then turned to Liu Le'er and Liu Shi and smiled apologetically.

"I know," Xiao Wu said, but took advantage of Yu Qi's turning around to make a face at Le'er.

Liu Le'er was amused by her and couldn't help but chuckle, but quickly covered her mouth with her hand. However, her originally nervous mood relaxed a little.

"By the way, I've been outside these past few days, the mansion..." Yu Qi looked around, approached Xiao Wu, and whispered.

The two leaned close together, their expressions intimate. Xiao Wu didn't seem to avoid it.

Seeing this scene, Liu Le'er pouted, and the little bit of goodwill that had just emerged for the white-robed young man was greatly reduced.

The two whispered a few words, and Xiao Wu nodded and quickly walked away.

"Please, you two." Yu Qi said and continued forward.

A moment later, the three arrived at a small courtyard, where Xiao Wu was waiting to greet them.

Although it was a small courtyard, it was not small in area. A path was paved with cobblestones, with a green pine tree on the left and a cluster of green bamboo on the right.

A breeze blew, and the pine trees and bamboo leaves rustled, creating a quiet and secluded atmosphere.

The furnishings inside the house were simple, but the tables and chairs were very well-made.

The tables and chairs were clean and spotless, obviously just cleaned.

"You two seem a little tired, rest here first, and later I will host a separate banquet for you and your brother," the white-robed young man said, turning to Liu Le'er with a smile.

"There's no need for a banquet. I just want to know when I can ask that immortal master to treat my brother," Liu Le'er said, looking around.

"Since you two don't like socializing, I'll have Xiao Wu send dinner over later. As for the immortal master, I'm afraid I'll have to wait until tomorrow to invite him," Yu Qi pondered for a moment, then said.

"Alright," Liu Le'er said, a little disappointed.

"By the way, if you two need anything else, feel free to tell Xiao Wu. You two rest well, I'll take my leave first," Yu Qi said, looking at Liu Shi again.

Liu Le'er nodded, looking a little absent-minded.

……

"Young Master, who are they? Judging by their attire, they are just ordinary people. Why are you being so polite to them?" Outside the small courtyard, Xiao Wu asked curiously.

"What do you know, you little girl? Today, my and Second Brother's carriage was frightened, and it was Liu Shi who single-handedly subdued the Azure Wind Horse and stopped the carriage," Yu Qi said with a light smile, pinching Xiao Wu's fair chin lightly.

"Azure Wind Horse! Single-handedly! That Liu Shi... what great strength!" Xiao Wu exclaimed in surprise when she heard this.

"Now you know, this kind of extraordinary person with divine power will be very useful to me in the future if I can subdue him. Moreover, if Le'er gets a little older, she will definitely be a stunning beauty. How could I bear to let her suffer outside? Naturally, I must take her into the mansion as well. You instruct them to treat them well and not to neglect them?" The white-robed young man said, walking out with a smile on his face as he instructed.

"Yes," Xiao Wu replied quickly, her face flushed, wondering what she was thinking.

……

Small courtyard, inside the house.

Liu Le'er had been walking all day and had just experienced a storm, so she was a little tired. She took Liu Shi into the bedroom to rest.

Although they were of different genders, they had been living and eating together in the wild for many years, so Liu Le'er didn't feel anything inappropriate.

When it got dark, Xiao Wu brought a sumptuous dinner.

Looking at the full table of fragrant dishes, Liu Le'er couldn't help but swallow.

She had never eaten such delicious food. Although she was in the Prime Minister's mansion, the unfamiliar environment made her a little uneasy, but she couldn't help but indulge in a feast.

On the other hand, Liu Shi didn't react to these delicacies.

As night deepened, a round moon slowly rose from the horizon.

Liu Le'er lay on the bed, tossing and turning for a long time, unable to fall asleep. Her mind was full of tomorrow's medical treatment.

"Shi Tou, do you think that immortal master can cure you?" Liu Le'er moved her body to the edge of the bed and said softly.

Liu Shi did not lie down, but sat cross-legged on the edge of the bed with his eyes closed.

He had been doing this every night for years, never lying down to sleep.

Liu Shi was expressionless and did not open his eyes, as if he had not heard the girl's words.

"Shi Tou, don't worry, if the immortal master here can't cure you, we'll go somewhere else. There must be someone who can cure you." Liu Le'er was used to it and said a few more words softly before showing a reassuring smile and slowly closing her eyes, entering her dreams.

Liu Shi remained motionless, like a statue in the darkness.

After an unknown amount of time, the tall youth suddenly opened his eyes, glanced in a certain direction of the Yu Mansion, and subconsciously raised his hand to touch a dark green ornament below his neck.

……

At the same time, in a certain underground secret room of the Yu Mansion in the direction where the tall youth was looking.

The four walls of the secret room were engraved with dark red runes, converging from all parts of the wall to the center.

A black pill furnace was placed in the center of the secret room, with a fire pool at the bottom, burning with raging flames.

The pill furnace was emitting black light, and the top cover was trembling gently, as if it would fly off at any moment.

An old man stood beside the pill furnace, watching it nervously.

The man wore a lotus crown, a gray-white Taoist robe, with deep eye sockets, thin cheeks, and a goatee hanging from his chin. His beard and hair were all snow-white, and he looked over seventy years old, with a bit of immortal charm.

At this moment, a muffled sound of explosion came from the pill furnace, followed by a burnt smell.

The old Taoist's face changed drastically. He waved his hand and cast a magic formula to extinguish the fire in the furnace. Then, with a wave of his hand, the lid of the pill furnace flew up.

Ignoring the scalding heat of the pill furnace, he reached directly into it. His face immediately became gloomy as he pulled out a handful of black powder.

A strong medicinal fragrance, mixed with a burnt smell, emanated from the powder.

Seeing this, the old man's face turned livid, and he jumped up and down in a fit of rage.
