Chapter 125: Chapter 125: Making Her Own Decisions
Originally, when the shop assistant went to find him, he was busy developing photos in the back.
The thing he disliked the most was being interrupted while working.
Moreover, this assistant had worked in his shop for over a decade and knew his temperament quite well.
So, under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t disturb him at work.
This special situation probably meant there was something out front that the assistant couldn’t handle.
The shop owner initially felt a bit annoyed when he saw the assistant.
He thought, what could be more important than his work? It’d be better if the assistant waited until he finished and told him then.
He was ready to explode immediately; after all, being a man, his thoughts weren’t so delicate.
His imagination wasn’t particularly vast either.
At this moment, he was only annoyed because the assistant had interrupted his work.
After all, their studio business had always been quite booming. Outside, who knows how many people were waiting to pick up photos after shooting at their studio?
If he didn’t hurry up and get these photos developed, by the agreed date when customers came to pick them up, he’d have nothing to give them, wouldn’t he be breaking the contract?
Over the years, their studio ensured punctuality by agreeing with customers to pick up the photos a week after their shoot.
If the photos weren’t developed within a week, they had to compensate for breach of contract by the day.
For every day delayed, they would have to compensate the customer one yuan for loss.
Recently, it’s just about the season change, so many came to their studio to shoot portraits.
And taking several-inch photos, so he got busy, barely having time to eat, just developing photos in the darkroom all day.
The assistant knew this situation as well.
In general, unless it was something she couldn’t solve, she wouldn’t disturb him.
The shop owner thought about the years of kinship, so he refrained from getting angry and instead frowned and asked:
"What’s the matter that made you come to find me in the back, don’t you know I’m busy?"
"If you have something to say, say it quickly. Once you’re done, I have to go back to developing photos. It’s getting dark, and I still have a dozen photos to develop."
"When customers come in to pick up photos, can we afford the compensation for their loss?"
Even though their studio had made quite a bit in recent years, if they had to compensate for breach of contract for one or two photos, they could literally bankrupt themselves.
So the shop owner would rather endure some hardship himself, get those agreed upon photos developed, place them there, and feel more comfortable.
No one likes the feeling of a fire at their feet.
It’s better to get all this work done early, so one can sit back comfortably.
Once the assistant saw her boss displeased, she immediately realized he was unhappy because she was interrupting his work.
The assistant usually understood the boundaries and wouldn’t usually disturb her boss.
This meant there was definitely something urgent, she hurriedly said:
"Boss, don’t be angry, I have something urgent to tell you, we got a large order in the store."
"A customer in front wants to develop five hundred photos, I told her we could do it for half price, but considering the quantity of photos to be developed is too large."
"After calculating the price, the customer felt it was still a bit expensive, so they asked if it could be cheaper."
"Since I’m not the boss, I can’t decide on this matter. So I thought to run back to ask what you thought?"
"I think it’s not easy to get such a big order, we should value it; if possible, we might as well offer her a discount, don’t you agree?"
The assistant spoke cautiously.
Having worked here for several years, she naturally understood how high the profit of the photo studio was.
The boss was initially upset, but upon hearing someone wanted to develop five hundred photos, his expression instantly changed to surprise.
Such a large order was worth considering for himself to decide.
The boss roughly estimated the profit their store could make from developing these five hundred photos.
He immediately put down the task he was working on.
After all, as the assistant said, it was indeed a major order, he naturally must go out front and see what the customer’s requests were.
He then hurriedly took the assistant and went to the front.
On entering, he looked around, thinking whoever wanted to develop over five hundred photos must be some kind of big boss.
But the assistant directly led him to Jiang Xin.
A girl who looked quite young wanting to develop over five hundred photos, he was instantly bewildered.
He wasn’t looking down on her, but having run this studio for so many years, he’d never seen such a thing before.
He felt Jiang Xin didn’t seem to possess the ability to afford such an expense.
Moreover, why would a young girl want to develop so many photos?
This must be a joke!
So, without even asking Jiang Xin, he directly turned to question the assistant:
"I can’t believe after all these years working in our store, you haven’t come to your senses yet?"
"Look at this young girl, doesn’t her age suggest she can’t make such decisions and spend such money to develop photos?"
The assistant was completely stunned by the boss’s scolding.
She looked at Jiang Xin, thinking that although she seemed young, she was still an adult, and should be able to make such a small decision.
However, upon reflection, the boss’s words did seem to hold some truth.
Judging by Jiang Xin’s age, she didn’t seem like she could independently earn money; if she spent a large sum to develop photos, what would they do if her parents found out and came asking for trouble?
