Chapter 49: Breakup:

Jiang Huaiyue didn’t think too much about the situation and simply answered the question, “He’s my man. Don’t you know him?”

Her tone was calm and natural. Then, pointing at Lin Fan, she added, “By the way, how did you end up looking like this?”

Her words made Lin Fan frown. From beginning to end, she was speaking to him like a casual friend.

With a gloomy expression, Lin Fan asked, “You said… he’s your man?”

Jiang Huaiyue nodded without hesitation. “Yes.”

Lin Fan felt like his world was falling apart.

The pain surged within him—almost unbearable.

“Then what am I to you?” he finally exploded, his emotions boiling over.

Pointing at Jiang Huaiyue, he shouted, “You actually got together with him! You betrayed me! Do you even feel guilty?”

For a moment, Jiang Huaiyue was stunned. Then her expression turned cold with annoyance.

“Are you insane?” she snapped. “What do you mean I betrayed you? What kind of relationship did we ever have?”

“At most, we were comrades. If I have a boyfriend, do I need to get your permission?”

Lin Fan was stunned. He clenched his fists, unable to vent the nameless rage inside.

It was true—they had never been in a romantic relationship. How could betrayal even be mentioned?

But in his heart, he had always treated her as his woman. There had always been an unspoken connection between them, like a thin layer of glass. He thought they were just one step away.

Shen Wuxiao seized the opportunity to stir the flames.

“Brother Lin Fan, what’s wrong with you? Aren’t you overstepping?”

“Shut up!” Lin Fan roared, pointing at him. “You seduced your friend’s woman. How dare you?”

For a brief moment, Shen Wuxiao’s eyes flashed with killing intent. Bastard… no one has ever dared shout at me like that.

But he didn’t act. Not yet. He would let Lin Fan fall apart completely—then break him.

Jiang Huaiyue, however, was furious. What right does he have to shout at my man? And what did he mean by “friend’s woman”? Was Lin Fan claiming her as his?

“Lin Fan, don’t you think you’re being way too self-righteous?” she said sharply.

“I’ll make it clear for you,” she continued. “We’re comrades. Nothing more. This delusion of yours is just that—a delusion.”

“Who are you to judge my life?”

“So, in your mind, anyone you like automatically belongs to you? Is that how it works?”

Lin Fan couldn’t respond. He opened his mouth, but no words came out.

She had hit the nail on the head. That was how he thought. If he liked something, no one else could touch it.

But saying it out loud… he couldn’t do it.

Still, the anger wouldn’t go away. Just the thought of that bastard, Shen Wuxiao—whom he hadn’t even dared to touch—now embracing Jiang Huaiyue with ease… it drove him mad.

Shen Wuxiao struck again, deliberately adding more fuel to the fire.

“Brother Lin Fan, you’re making me lose faith in you.”

“Yue’er told me she came here all the way just to help you. And this is how you repay her?”

“Looks like what happens between Yue’er and me has nothing to do with you anymore.”

Those words shattered Lin Fan’s last bit of reason.

He couldn’t take it any longer.

He roared, and a terrifying killing aura erupted from him. His power surged and his iron fist smashed toward Shen Wuxiao!

Shen Wuxiao remained unmoved, a mocking smile on his face.

But just as the fist was about to land, Jiang Huaiyue acted.

She moved with lightning speed, kicking Lin Fan in the arm.

The impact spun him around, and he stumbled back two steps.

“Lin Fan, you’ve gone too far!” she snapped, her eyes cold as ice.

If she hadn’t intervened, Shen Wuxiao might have been seriously injured—or even killed. That punch didn’t just break the silence—it broke everything between them.

Jiang Huaiyue reached for her waist, and in the next second, a soft sword appeared in her hand, coiling like a silver snake.

She aimed it straight at Lin Fan.

Lin Fan was stunned.

“You… you’re pointing a sword at me?” he asked in disbelief.

Jiang Huaiyue’s voice was ice-cold. “Only because I didn’t bring a gun.”

Those words crushed him.

Her beautiful face was full of disgust as she continued, “Lin Fan, we’ve been through hell together. We’ve fought side by side, trusted each other with our lives.”

“I never hid anything from you. So today, I’ll say it all!”

“I admit I once had feelings for you. I couldn’t tell if it was comradeship, sibling-like affection, or romantic love.”

“When I heard you were in danger, I left everything behind to help you. Ask yourself—have I ever let you down?”

“I…” Lin Fan couldn’t speak. Not a single word.

He had been blinded by rage.

Just now, he had truly wanted to kill. And in that moment, the last thread of goodwill had snapped.

Jiang Huaiyue continued, “And what did you do?”

“You humiliated me in front of my man, claimed I was yours.”

“When did I ever belong to you?”

“I used to think you were someone honorable—disciplined, principled, selfless. I looked up to you, admired you.”

“But I was wrong.”

Her words struck him like knives.

For a moment, Lin Fan felt like a complete joke.

“Yue’er, I…” He tried to apologize, to explain.

“Please call me Miss Jiang—or just Jiang Huaiyue,” she cut him off coldly.

Lin Fan gritted his teeth. The humiliation was unbearable.

But Shen Wuxiao was overjoyed.

My wife is amazing. She made this bastard explode with just a few words.

“From the moment you tried to kill, our relationship ended,” Jiang Huaiyue said flatly.

She raised the soft sword again. “Now, choose—leave, or fight.”

Lin Fan opened his mouth but didn’t move. He neither fought nor walked away.

Jiang Huaiyue no longer cared.

She grabbed Shen Wuxiao’s hand and walked straight to the car.

Shen Wuxiao was laughing in his heart the entire way.

Then, the system’s voice echoed in his mind:

[Ding! Congratulations, Host. Emotional tie with the protagonist severed. +100,000 points.]

[Congratulations, Host. Protagonist’s mental defense broken. +50,000 points.]

[Congratulations, Host. Lin Fan and Jiang Huaiyue’s relationship erased. +50,000 points.]

Jackpot.

They walked past Lin Fan, who stood frozen.

As Shen Wuxiao passed him, Lin Fan’s fists tightened, and his fury nearly erupted again.

But Jiang Huaiyue stayed alert. If Lin Fan moved, she would strike without hesitation.

Still, Lin Fan held it in.

Only after they drove away did he finally turn and leave—silently, stiffly, pretending to be composed.

But once he found a quiet place with no one around, he broke.

Lin Fan’s mind crumbled.

“Damn it… bastard!”

“I finally gave my heart to someone, and she made me lose everything… hahaha… Zhao!”

He couldn’t take it anymore.

He threw a furious punch at the ground before walking off.

There would never be anything between him and Jiang Huaiyue again.

Unfortunately for him, the real heartbreak was still yet to come.

Because the car where Jiang Huaiyue and Shen Wuxiao sat hadn’t even started moving yet.

Inside, both of them sat in silence.

Jiang Huaiyue didn’t say a word.
