Chapter 39: Ruins 2

Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Ruins 2

Heavy footsteps sounded from behind Su Ziyu.

Pasha came out wearing a gray-white exoskeleton power armor, holding a six-barreled Gatling gun in her hands. Normally, she couldn’t even use this thing, but with the exoskeleton power armor on, it was quite easy, as if she were casually holding an iron rod.

Ratatatata!

Pasha raised the six-barreled Gatling gun and fired at the wall. The fierce firepower created dents on the wall, and the severely deformed Living Corpse Ghost had its leg blown off halfway, yet it could still rely on the claws on its arms to quickly climb the high wall. Its speed was quite fast, and only a small portion of the Gatling gun’s shots hit it.

Then, it was seen leaping directly towards Pasha in mid-air.

"Watch out!"

Just as Su Ziyu’s words fell, a muffled sound was heard. Pasha put down the Gatling gun in her hand, swung the large metal fist, and smashed it over, pinning the Living Corpse Ghost to the wall. The terrifying impact even caused cracks to appear on the wall.

This power is simply frightening!

"This is the latest modified exoskeleton power armor. It’s quite easy to deal with such monsters." Pasha swung her fist again, causing the head of the Living Corpse Ghost to slightly deform.

Su Ziyu jumped up, pulled out the black dagger from his waist, and shouted, "Let me do it!"

Pasha’s figure stepped back half a step.

Slash!

Su Ziyu swung the black dagger and stabbed directly into the Living Corpse Ghost’s brain, stirring it as it struggled and convulsed violently, soon rendering it completely dead.

"Gained 1 Source Power Value!"

The data stream prompt made Su Ziyu pause slightly before he pulled out the weapon and stepped back two steps.

Boom.

A muffled sound came from about two to three hundred meters away, followed by the sound of a building collapsing.

Pasha turned to look at Zoe, who was walking stiffly and rather clumsily behind them, and asked, "Can you drive a tank?"

"No... I can’t..." Zoe said somewhat nervously.

After saying that, Pasha turned to look at Su Ziyu. Seeing him shake his head, she could only give up on that idea helplessly.

Possibly attracted by the commotion here, several more Corpse Ghosts appeared one after another, but for some unknown reason, they didn’t rush in and instead lingered in the direction of the sewer. An explosion was heard again from the junk pile, and then a person wearing exoskeleton power armor was seen covering a team as they charged out. Some people inside were recognized by Su Ziyu, all of them being the white people from the hotel.

They also saw the three of Su Ziyu, shouted a few words from afar, and ran towards the gate. Because of the gunfire, it wasn’t very clear, but it seemed like they wanted to find a vehicle to leave here.

Bang!

Another collapsing sound came from inside the high wall.

There seemed to be a terrifying monster, making even more noise than the giant from before!

"You guys... look over there!..." Zoe’s voice suddenly trembled a bit.

Su Ziyu looked up, and quickly gasped, only to see two or three dozen Living Corpse Ghosts emerge from the direction of the junk pile, including three or four with obvious radiation mutations, their muscles swollen like tumors. These monsters were much more dangerous than the Living Corpse Ghosts, possessing greater strength and speed, and even if their bodies were blown apart, they wouldn’t die.

During their absence, who knows what happened in the Polaris.

Bodies everywhere!

The Freelancers suffered heavy casualties, with hardly any living people seen along the way, and many Scavengers outside also died.

"What do we do?" Pasha asked a bit nervously.

There are too many monsters.

It’s impossible to kill them all.

"Retreat." Su Ziyu didn’t want to die here, of course, the first thing to do when things went wrong was to run.

Boom!

Another loud explosion was heard.

Then Su Ziyu saw a figure fall from the second floor, his body already battered and beyond recognition. In normal circumstances, a person should have been dead long ago, but after landing, he just trembled a little, then got up and ran quickly towards Su Ziyu’s direction, shouting as he ran, "You bastards finally came!"

"Heavy firepower!"

"Quickly prepare heavy firepower! There’s still a big guy inside! That old bastard has undergone a super mutation!..."

As he ran, that person was suddenly dumbfounded.

Because he hadn’t seen the Brotherhood’s reinforcements, instead he saw the similarly dumbfounded Su Ziyu and the other two.

FUCK!

Why haven’t those bastards come to support yet!

"Run!"

"What are you standing around for!" Zoe shouted.

Rumble.

The wall of a building not far away was broken through, and then a massive muscular figure charged out. Unlike the radiation giant Su Ziyu had seen before, its figure was even taller, its body covered in strange gray-white horny layers, and its arms had peculiar proliferative organs, swinging like octopus tentacles. The original five human fingers were gone, replaced by three thick, writhing tentacles.

The face of this monster was already gone.

Only a pair of dark green eyes and a gruesome, terrifying gaping mouth could be seen.

Dripping blood trickled down the dark blue tentacles. It was unknown how many people this monster had killed, as its body was covered with many indescribably disgusting things, mostly remnants of human organs that had been devoured.

"hungry!... meat!..."

"hungry!... meat!..."

Hungry...

Meat...

The eerie whispering made Su Ziyu and the others slightly tense, their heads felt as if pricked by needles, even inexplicably feeling a bit hungry.

"Cover your ears!"

"This old thing has been starving for years to extend its life!... Run!... Don’t listen to its words!..." Leon shouted from afar.

Su Ziyu and the others were confused.

But they quickly covered their ears and retreated. The monster’s eerie whispers directly pierced the mind. Su Ziyu was the first to recover quickly, Pasha a bit slower, and Zoe stood in a daze until Pasha pushed her awake.

Rumbling.

The monster ran at high speed, charging over like a humanoid tank.

With its appearance, the nearby Living Corpse Ghosts hid again.

The distance was closing bit by bit.

Just as Su Ziyu planned to pull the others into residential areas, wanting to use nearby buildings to hinder the monster’s advance, he suddenly heard the rapid rotor noise of helicopters.

Not just one.

At least three helicopters could be heard.

The next moment.

The sound of onboard machine guns firing rapidly filled the air, and five or six figures wearing exoskeleton armor descended along the ropes of armed helicopters. On their exoskeleton power armor was a distinctive inverted triangular emblem.

——"Brotherhood!"
