Chapter 117: Chapter 34: Inheritance II
Inside the merchant guild.
The vampire banshee explained in detail the commission from Lady Anirella, the boss of the Queen of Night.
Su Ziyu was a bit surprised that this High Tier vampire wanted to use their hands to kill another High Tier vampire.
It turns out.
Within the vampires of the City of Freedom, there are three factions. The first faction is the Moderate Faction, where Lady Anirella belongs. They are vampires relatively friendly to humans, and some even help humans selflessly. Van Helsing managed to find the imprisoned Melissa back then because of Lady Anirella’s help. The second is the Neutral Faction vampires, who still maintain the tradition of bloodsucking but believe they shouldn’t easily take human lives. These vampires try to raise humans in captivity, and some human villages are secretly under their control. A few vampires arrange themselves to have the identity of a Noble Lord.
The last is the Traditionalist Faction of vampires.
Their actions are more aggressive. Some choose to imprison humans like livestock for blood sources, while others are the most primitive and brutal type, treating hunting humans as an important traditional ceremony.
This type of vampire hunts regularly at night, and people die at their hands each time.
"Gimmon Fan Talaf?" Su Ziyu looked at the portrait in his hand, frowned, and said, "Lady Anirella wants him dead?"
"Why don’t you do it yourselves?"
From the portrait alone, this guy doesn’t look like a vampire at all, but rather like a charming noble gentleman.
He is a Traditionalist hunting vampire.
The vampire banshee slowly said, "The Shadow Elders don’t allow High Tier vampires to kill each other. If we act and are found out, everyone will face very severe punishment."
Shadow Elders?
Su Ziyu raised his eyebrows, quickly recalling that this should be the Vampire Elder that Van Helsing mentioned, an old monster rumored to have lived for thousands of years, a terrifying existence that Demon Hunters cannot confront.
"As long as you find a way to kill him."
"Lady Anirella will help you secure a seat in the City of Freedom’s council, and might even find a way to get you a large piece of land."
Su Ziyu exchanged glances with Lady Alice, and after a moment, he stood up and said, "I understand."
"We’ll have to discuss this further when Lady Inid returns."
The vampire banshee smiled and showed her sharp fangs, raising her eyebrows and said, "No worries. What we lack the least is time."
Before leaving, she even blinked flirtatiously at Su Ziyu.
Inside the hall.
Judy emerges from behind, looking worried, saying softly, "Do we really have to deal with a High Tier vampire?"
"Can’t we just buy a piece of land directly?"
"The three of us sisters still have quite a bit of gold, enough to buy a piece of land."
Su Ziyu didn’t expect Judy to be there; he hadn’t sensed anything earlier, possibly due to being shielded by spells.
This wealthy woman looked worried, preferring to buy land with money rather than face a High Tier vampire. Su Ziyu didn’t know how much money she had, but it seemed Judy, Nicole, and Mira were very wealthy; the large ship they took to the Northern Continent was purchased by them.
Perhaps the three of them came from families with mines.
"Not that easy." Alice shook her head and said, "Although the Northern Continent has many abandoned lands, they’re hard to purchase."
"Moreover, what we need most is an identity."
"This can help us enter the elite circle of the City of Freedom."
"Why were we hunted down in the Southern Continent, forced to hide? Was it because we didn’t have money? Or because we didn’t have land?"
"No!"
"It’s because we lost power!"
Hearing these words, Su Ziyu looked at Alice with newfound respect. The female Warlock had a clear understanding far more mature than others.
Why has the status of Warlocks and Demon Hunters become more difficult?
Because they lost power.
The rise of the church replaced their connections with secular royal powers, leaving them without legal identity in the Southern Countries, completely vulnerable to exploitation. At their peak, Warlocks were royal advisors to the Southern Countries, influencing national power transitions. But now, the church has completely taken over.
The weakening of Warlocks meant that Demon Hunters lost a major ally, and soon they too faced heavy blows!
"What are you trying to do?" Judy looked at Alice, furrowed her eyebrows with a serious expression, and said, "All along, I felt you were hiding something from us."
Alice’s expression was very calm, and slowly said, "Soon. You will know."
"Trust us."
"Everything we’re doing is to protect our sisters’ safety and to maintain our Warlocks’ rights."
"How long has it been since you quietly studied magic?"
"We’ve been hiding from Witch Hunters’ pursuits. Now it’s time to unite our strength and reclaim the rights due to us."
Upon hearing this, Judy seemed to realize something, her expression shocked, "Are you... planning to rebuild the Warlock Academy here?"
Alice smiled mysteriously.
It’s still not enough.
An academy is not enough; we need more power to oppose the ever-growing church forces.
"You made an agreement with Van Helsing too?" Judy seemed to understand a lot at once, muttering.
"Yes." Alice gently nodded.
She then looked at Su Ziyu beside her, bowed respectfully, and said, "Sir Su, we need your help. Whatever rewards you want, we will try our best to satisfy you."
Su Ziyu was weighing the pros and cons.
After contemplating for a moment, he looked up seriously and said, "Then you’ll have to add more money!"
Ha ha.
His words made the two female Warlocks chuckle, as they often heard this phrase from another Demon Hunter.
Su Ziyu had some inkling of what Van Helsing wanted to do.
He wanted to restore the Demon Hunters’ legacy!
There’s no place for them to survive in the Southern Countries; only the Northern Continent can allow them to rebuild the Demon Hunters’ Academy, reviving those slowly disappearing schools of thought.
No wonder he frequently mentioned the Demon Hunters’ legacy.
There were even several instances where he hinted at it, but Su Ziyu didn’t realize at the time.
"Someone will come to help you soon."
"We have people at Cold Crow Castle; if you have nowhere to go, you can go there!"
Van Helsing’s words before leaving echoed in Su Ziyu’s mind, as he realized what the old Demon Hunter might do.
He even prepared for failure!
