Luo Xiao Le gasped, seeing the several vortexes of energy.
"Quick, someone's coming out! Retreat!" Her clear voice was tinged with urgency.
"Tch, if you're scared, you can go back..." The tiger's voice was laced with disdain.
Confident in his abilities as an esper, he was keenly aware of dangers posed by other espers.
Even through the barrier, he wouldn't ignore an impending threat.
But after his boast, he turned and was surprised to find that almost everyone else had immediately believed Luo Xiao Le and were already retreating at full speed.
"Damn it..." he cursed under his breath and turned to run.
"Get in the car!" Wang Biao waved at Luo Xiao Le and the others, already starting his vehicle and quickly reversing.
The car would expose them; the most important thing was to hide it first.
Luo Xiao Le gritted her teeth against the throbbing pain in her wrist and quickly pulled open the car door, jumping in.
The others quickly boarded. In a mere five seconds, both cars were in reverse, speeding away and instantly exiting the area they had been observing.
Then, they turned and drove into a thicket of bushes about two meters high.
Having found cover, they turned off the engines, got out of the cars, and hid in the nearby bushes, secretly watching the area they had just left.
"Hoo~"
To their surprise, after waiting for a full five minutes, there was no activity from that area, only the whistling wind.
"I really don't get it," the tiger grumbled indignantly. "I said there was nothing there. If anyone approached, I would have sensed it, right? What were you all crazy about, listening to this sprout?"
A San wiped his nose from behind. Hearing the tiger's reprimand, he felt a bit guilty. He hadn't intended to run either, but for some reason, this Luo Xiao Le was incredibly strange. Every time he encountered her, it seemed nothing good happened, yet every time, this little bean sprout managed to escape danger.
He hadn't thought much about it. For some reason, as soon as he heard Luo Xiao Le cry out, he was the first to believe her, immediately jumping up, turning around, and leaping into the car.
How embarrassing...
"Shh..." To his surprise, Wang Biao's group and Mo Chen remained still, as if they still believed Luo Xiao Le's words. They all vigilantly watched that area.
"I can't stand you guys!" The tiger was speechless and was about to stand up.
"Swish..." The barrier, which had been still moments before, now rippled like water. It vibrated twice, and then, as if a door had opened, four or five people pushed through the ripples, fully armed, and charged out of the barrier.
The tiger yelped in surprise and instantly flattened himself back to the ground, his speed astonishing.
This time, it was Luo Xiao Le's turn to give him a look of disdain.
"What's going on? There was an alert outside the barrier just now, so why is no one here?" The group looked at the empty grassland outside and exchanged glances.
"Could it be they didn't find the barrier and left?"
"Nonsense. Most of those who can find this place are espers from Luocheng Base. How could they not have found the barrier?"
"Besides, we waited a few minutes outside the entrance like we always do. If espers don't sense anything, they usually let their guard down. Then we charge out and catch them off guard. This tactic has always worked. How could there be no one?"
"Hmm... that's strange..." The group scratched their heads.
Wang Biao and the others exchanged looks. That was close... these people were actually trying to trick them!
Fortunately, they had trusted Luo Xiao Le's judgment and, unlike the tiger, hadn't considered rushing out again.
"Reckless!" Wang Biao muttered to the tiger.
The tiger, so close, could certainly hear. His face flushed with embarrassment. He glared at Luo Xiao Le, blaming the little sprout for his humiliation.
Luo Xiao Le glared back and, using the cover of the bushes, quietly approached the group by the barrier.
Wang Biao and the others followed.
"No, there are definitely espers nearby." The group, however, was quite perceptive.
With a crackle of electricity, the group seemed to activate a device, and a powerful surge of current shot out, hitting the tiger and the others hiding in the bushes.
They immediately collapsed on the grass in pain.
Luo Xiao Le frowned. No wonder the elite team had been captured; it turned out these people had weapons specifically designed to deal with espers!
"There!" The group exclaimed with delight, sensing the direction of the current and charging towards the bushes.
Luo Xiao Le, Wang Biao, and Mo Chen gripped their weapons, their muscles tensed, waiting for the group to approach so they could launch a surprise attack!
They knew there were espers here.
But they didn't know that there were actually a few more terrifying, non-esper individuals here...
As the group got closer, Luo Xiao Le suddenly felt something wrong beneath her feet.
A mound of earth suddenly erupted from under her, flipping her over almost instantly. She was thrown out of the bushes!
She looked up awkwardly and found herself at the feet of the approaching group.
"Pah! I fell face-first this time... sloppy..." she cursed, feeling extremely unlucky.
The mound that tripped her... earth ability... it could only be the tiger trying to ambush her.
The spy couldn't resist making a move already?
However, as she looked up, she made several gestures behind her, signaling them not to come out.
Mo Chen, who was about to rush out, saw her gesture. His fingers dug deep into his palm, and he gritted his teeth, suppressing the urge to charge out.
"Drip, drip, drip." At this moment, the energy bar in front of Luo Xiao Le, the "anger" category, suddenly surged.
It rose from 40% to 60%!
Luo Xiao Le quickly made a gesture to signal she was okay, telling him not to worry.
Her objective was very clear. Everyone was now outside the barrier. Even if they captured these people, they might not reveal how to enter the barrier. Moreover, the situation of the barrier was unknown. If they could find another way back in, it would be difficult to lure them out again!
There was only one way: make them think they had captured someone, and they would open the barrier themselves.
Although she had exposed herself, this method could be used.
Mo Chen took a deep breath. After a moment of thought, he immediately understood Luo Xiao Le's plan. He pursed his lips and forcefully suppressed his emotions.
He had always believed in and respected Luo Xiao Le's decisions.
"Yo, a little girl? Quite brave, aren't you?" The group laughed heartily upon seeing Luo Xiao Le's disheveled appearance.
"Enough, let's focus on the task. See if there are any other accomplices nearby." After their laughter, they picked up the device again and with a crackle of electricity.
"Owooo!" To their surprise, the tiger also rolled out from the edge of the bushes, letting out a mournful howl.
He glanced fearfully at Mo Chen, who had kicked him to the edge of the bushes.
This icy man clearly had no esper abilities, yet with a seemingly effortless kick, he felt as if his spine was about to break!
Mo Chen, who had already retreated further with his companions, was still staring intently at him, his eyes radiating a coldness that could devour him, signaling him to shut up.
"Yo! There's another one here! Hahaha." The other few people, while operating their current device, walked towards the tiger and picked him up as if he were a small chicken.
"It's been a while since any espers dared to come over. Quite a good haul today, let's go!" The group twisted something in their hands, and then dragged both Luo Xiao Le and the tiger into the barrier.
The watery ripple instantly vanished, as if nothing had happened.
Only the whistling wind blew across the desolate grassland.
