"Holy crap... What is that thing!"
The zombie clung to the wall like a gecko.
Its head twisted 180 degrees, like in a horror movie, and stared at them.
Everyone felt a chill.
"Run... Run!" Zhou Xiaojun couldn't help but shout.
Before the people in front could react.
They hadn't even taken a step.
The inverted zombie suddenly spat out five dark green tongues.
They whipped towards the group with a "swish."
Viscous fluid splattered everywhere – the air, the walls – sickening and foul.
A suffocating stench filled the entire lighthouse.
"Ah! It's going to eat me!" A boy in front of Zhou Xiaojun was tightly wrapped by a tongue and lifted into the air.
"Swish!"
A sound like a blade cutting through the air.
Zhou Xiaojun, closest to the boy, was the first to act.
The tongue was instantly severed.
The boy screamed and fell, caught by others below.
"Roar!"
But the zombie acted as if nothing had happened.
It flicked the severed tongue in the air, and it began to whip around again.
A new tongue grew out.
"We're doomed..." Luo Shu's round face was etched with worry. "Regeneration? Classification? This thing can't be killed? This is unscientific!"
Luo Xiaole stood silently behind.
She wholeheartedly agreed.
It was indeed unscientific... And she was frozen again, completely defenseless!
Who knew there was something so deadly here.
And it had deliberately avoided her bell, only lingering on the other side.
Did this thing know how powerful her bell was?
She could only pray silently that the zombie wouldn't target her now.
Otherwise, she'd truly become a small biscuit in the zombie's mouth!
A zombie that looked so disgusting, too.
Often, what you fear most comes to pass.
The zombie's attack missed, and its five tongues slammed down again.
With a "thud," they hit the ground, flipping several people over.
Then, without hesitation, it wrapped around Luo Xiaole, using the other tongues as cover, and quickly swept her into the air.
Mo Chen's eyes changed drastically.
"Xiaole!" Luo Shu cried out.
"Are you guys picking on the weakest one, huh?" Luo Xiaole grumbled internally.
But she still couldn't move an inch.
Almost there, almost there, as long as they held on for another minute.
She'd be free from the restraint and could save herself!
"Holy crap, can you be this calm even when you're being swallowed by a tongue and lifted into the air..." A boy in the crowd nudged the one who had just been swept away.
"Look at how pathetic you were just now, and then look at Luo Xiaole?"
The boy, having just escaped death, was now being mocked. His face cycled through colors from green to black multiple times.
The moment Luo Xiaole was lifted, Mo Chen's small knife was already in motion.
But the wall-crawling zombie clung to Luo Xiaole tightly, as if she were a tasty morsel, refusing to let go.
Another tongue shot out quickly, intercepting Mo Chen's attack!
It broke almost instantly! And regrew.
"Damn zombie, how dare you touch our team leader! I'll fight you!"
Luo Shu exchanged a glance with Mo Chen. They both gripped their weapons.
The monster was too high up... They had to lure it down.
Without a second thought, Mo Chen made a small cut on his wrist.
The zombie instantly smelled the blood.
It immediately lost interest in Luo Xiaole.
It dropped her and dived towards Mo Chen like a tornado.
"Mo Chen, don't lure it over here!" Screams erupted from the crowd.
Seeing the terrifying zombie charging directly at them, everyone else backed away.
Mo Chen's expression was blank as he watched the zombie open one of its mouths and lunge at his head!
"Screech!"
With the flash of a silver blade, a large gash appeared on the zombie's head!
The zombie roared and it could still move?
The zombie's second attack came instantly.
Mo Chen's second strike landed simultaneously.
Within a second, the zombie's forehead was almost split open.
But the zombie... was still not dead?
Mo Chen's eyes narrowed.
This one was difficult to deal with.
"Ding!" A few whistling nails shot from behind the monster.
They pierced through its spine.
More nails followed, lining up to pierce its entire face.
Finally, from one of the monster's mouths, a small, shelled, monkey-like zombie shrieked and jumped out.
Luo Xiaole froze.
She'd seen this thing before.
Last time, outside the supermarket warehouse, the last wall-crawling zombie had a parasite like this in its brain, right?
Why this thing again?
Luo Xiaole's thumbtacks flew again, but the creature was as slippery as an eel, and so small.
After only a couple of hops, it seemed to disappear into the wall, leaving no trace.
The five-mouthed monster finally seemed dead, collapsing with a thud...
Luo Xiaole patted her chest, still shaken.
Based on these two encounters, the two stronger mutated zombies they had encountered.
Both had these parasitic zombies inside their brains.
Luo Xiaole didn't know if it was the same one as last time.
But the existence of these parasitic zombies truly turned their escape into a hellish difficulty.
"I'm sorry, Xiaole. Things happened so suddenly, and I can't control my powers well yet. I couldn't save you just now," Zhu Hui murmured, looking at Luo Xiaole.
Luo Xiaole patted her shoulder.
No one could guarantee they would react effectively to sudden events like this.
When faced with fear, people just reacted that way, it couldn't be helped.
"You guys hear that..." Zhou Xiaojun's voice trembled.
The sounds of zombies battering the door downstairs were getting louder.
They were about to break in!
They had just dealt with that mutated zombie, and the parasite might still be lurking nearby.
There were no doors on any of the upper floors, leaving almost no place to hide.
If these zombies broke in, they might all perish in this clock tower today.
"Should we just grit our teeth and fight our way out?" Luo Shu asked anxiously.
"It's too late," Mo Chen said, uncharacteristically.
The next second, he assumed a fighting stance.
Luo Xiaole frowned.
She could also hear the door being pounded. In a few seconds, it would be broken open.
She tightly gripped the hem of her shirt, crumpling the fabric of her oversized hoodie.
She did this to alleviate her anxiety.
Don't panic, she encouraged herself, only by staying calm could she find a solution.
She exerted pressure with her hands, and her mind began to race.
Until she saw a recessed corner ahead, forming a small alcove where the dozen of them could temporarily hide.
An idea suddenly struck her.
She looked up at her enhanced bell.
She definitely had to take this bell with her.
But now, it was also the most useful thing.
The group had already descended to the second floor, only a few steps away from the first.
At this distance, they couldn't outrun the surging horde of zombies.
Luo Xiaole shouted to the group, "Hide in that recess ahead, quickly, as fast as you can!"
Once again, when others had no ideas, they naturally listened to the one who did.
Because there was no other option.
Everyone crowded into the recess almost frantically.
"Why are we hiding in there! To get eaten all together!" Xu Lingyan complained, annoyed by the pushing.
The next second, the door downstairs burst open.
The horde of zombies smashed through the door and stormed in!
They swarmed up the stairs, rushing madly towards the scent of humans.
Luo Xiaole's heart lurched, and she shouted, "Mo Chen!"
"Aim for the bell's chain!"
Mo Chen understood her intention in an instant.
Without hesitation, he chose to trust her. The next second, his throwing knife flew!
The chain connecting the bell to the ceiling snapped instantly.
The massive bell then plummeted down rapidly!
The two zombies at the front, their faces bloody and littered with human remains.
They had been on the verge of victory, extending their claws.
And reaching for a boy huddled near the outer edge of the recess.
"Ah... No! Don't grab me!"
"Crash!" The bell descended unexpectedly.
It smashed the zombie into a pulp.
