Chapter 52 Heading to the Airport

"Damn it!" Zhou Xiaojun wrenched the steering wheel, trying to shake off the zombie on the roof.

It was no use.

Another zombie was slamming violently against the car door.

"Forget them, just drive forward!" Luo Xiaolee gripped the handrail in the middle, holding on tight.

She tried to stay as far away from both zombies as possible, to avoid being stiff.

Zhou Xiaojun gritted his teeth and stomped on the accelerator.

The school bus roared to life, like an arrow loosed from a bowstring, charging straight ahead!

Almost instantly.

The horde of zombies caught up to the rear door, and by now, they were surging in like a tide through the opening.

"Bang!"

The zombie by the door couldn't keep up with the bus's speed and was instantly flung away.

The zombie on the roof suddenly went silent.

It must have been shaken off by the acceleration.

Everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Zhou Xiaojun glanced at the rearview mirror. The zombie horde was rapidly approaching from behind.

But at the bus's full throttle, they were eventually left behind. 138 Reading Net

Becoming small dots that gradually receded into the distance.

"Hoo..." Zhou Xiaojun drove for a while longer before finally slowing down to a steady pace.

He had just shifted his gaze from the rearview mirror.

A huge, bruised face suddenly appeared directly in front of him.

Through the windshield, it pressed against his face, almost at point-blank range!

"Mom!" Zhou Xiaojun's heart nearly leaped out of his chest.

He instinctively let go of the steering wheel.

The bus lurched violently to the right with the steering wheel.

The bus was moving fast, and it looked like it was about to tip over!

Then, a hand suddenly appeared.

It steadied the steering wheel firmly.

Adjusting the angle, it slowly straightened.

"Mo... Mo Shen..." Zhou Xiaojun looked at the owner of the hand, his voice on the verge of tears.

"Hold the wheel steady, I'll deal with it." Mo Shen's brows were tightly furrowed.

"Got it... You can do it..."

Zhou Xiaojun knew he had almost caused a disaster.

Without a word, he sat up straight in the driver's seat, firmly holding the steering wheel.

Just as Mo Shen was about to draw his knife.

The zombie pressed against the windshield suddenly, inexplicably, vanished.

The howling wind outside made it difficult to judge the zombies' positions.

Luo Xiaolee felt a sense of foreboding from the situation.

To prevent stiffness from hindering her later, she immediately squatted down.

She minimized her body's profile as much as possible to avoid being attacked.

Everyone else remained seated, their bodies involuntarily tensing.

Mo Shen, his long saber in hand, slowly paced from the back of the bus to the front.

But the zombie made no further move.

"Crash!" The rear window of the bus was shattered!

A blackish-green claw suddenly appeared and dragged out the boy from the small convenience store who was sitting at the very back!

"Help... help me!" The girl from the convenience store screamed sharply.

"Don't scream!" Li Xiaotian, holding his gun nearby, couldn't stand girls being so flustered.

He turned and fired several bursts in the direction the person had disappeared.

But it seemed to hit nothing but air.

The target was lost.

After a few minutes.

"You... you guys look!" Xu Lingyan pointed to something swinging on the car window...

"Is that... is that human intestines..." Her voice was trembling.

Everyone looked over and felt their blood run cold.

This couldn't be just one zombie...

To have mangled a person so badly in such a short time.

Could it be that the ones who jumped on earlier...

Were more than one...

Just as everyone was thinking this.

A window in the middle of the school bus was instantly smashed!

A bloody, mangled hand reached down from the roof!

Fortunately, Luo Xiaolee had squatted down.

Otherwise, that hand might have grabbed her!

"Get out of the way quickly!" she quickly called out to the boy next to her.

The boy lurched to the side.

The hand missed its grasp.

"Phew... You scared me to death!" The boy patted his chest.

He didn't notice another zombie's head peeking out beside him.

"Ding!" Luo Xiaolee's thumbtack shot out!

The zombie's eyes were instantly pierced! It lost its vision!

In the next second, it retreated back into the roof.

"Swish!" A gust of wind swept past.

Mo Shen followed the angle from which the zombie had escaped.

He hooked his toes and pushed off the floor of the bus, flipping into the cabin.

"Roar!" Several zombie roars, one after another, sounded from the roof of the bus.

Everyone's hearts trembled.

The sound suggested that Mo Shen might not have the advantage...

Everyone held their breath.

Five minutes later, the sound of flesh being torn apart suddenly erupted directly above Luo Xiaolee.

Followed by the sound of several bodies falling onto the cabin floor...

Everyone saw through the windows as chunks of blackish-green flesh fell off the back of the bus...

Had Mo Shen won or... ?

"Ah! Xiaolee, there's a hand next to you!" Zhu Hui suddenly screamed from beside her.

Luo Xiaolee didn't feel any stiffness.

So, she fearlessly glanced to her side.

She saw several slender fingers slowly gripping the window ledge.

The hand was covered in blood.

At first glance, it was easy to mistake it for the bloody hand that had attacked them earlier.

Luo Xiaolee, however, was unfazed. She slowly stood up and moved aside.

The next second, a calm and decisive figure, from beside the window Luo Xiaolee had vacated.

Flipped into the bus.

Mo Shen raised his sleeve and calmly wiped the blood from his face.

"It's done," he said, his lips barely moving, in a volume only Luo Xiaolee could hear. "Don't be afraid."

Luo Xiaolee nodded vigorously.

Mo Shen was so reliable! He truly was the team's number one combatant!

"There were 5 zombies up there," Mo Shen said after a moment of silence, reporting the situation.

"What! How is that possible!" The others were stunned.

"Didn't we only see one zombie jump up earlier?"

Their small eyes were filled with big doubts.

"That's what I found strange..." Mo Shen's voice was unusually low.

"The zombie on the roof..." his tone was menacing, "seems to be able to split itself..."

"What!"

No one could remain calm in such a situation.

"Damn it, these zombies are already squeezing our survival space, and now there are zombies that can split?!"

"Are they trying to kill us all?"

"The hell, I haven't even had my fill of using my abilities, and these freaks can use abilities too, right?" Li Xiaotian, sitting at the back of the bus, finally put down his silencer gun.

He sat aside with a hint of resentment.

"Stop complaining, Mo Shen killed those zombies. Things will get better, they'll all get better in the future." Zhou Xiaojun, hearing everyone's complaints from the driver's seat, could only offer a stiff attempt at comfort.

"Yeah... one step at a time." Luo Shu was also somewhat despairing, but her rationality remained.

"Where do we go next?" Luo Shu turned around and began to ask Luo Xiaolee.

Since the beginning, Luo Xiaolee had accepted this reality.

After all, since the apocalypse, she had only faced bad news.

She was already accustomed to adjusting her mindset.

She looked at the road ahead and saw what appeared to be fresh tire tracks.

"Which direction is that, going there?" She pointed the tire tracks to Luo Shu.

"That's... the airport!"

Luo Xiaolee nodded.

Judging by the freshness of the tire tracks, it seemed someone knowledgeable had already headed to the airport.

She looked at the sky, which was gradually darkening.

There weren't many places around where they could temporarily rest.

It seemed tonight, they would have to make do at the airport.

...

"Boss, it looks like those girls have come out the back door!"

Two blocks away from the school, a subordinate reported excitedly.

"Hmm... faster than I expected." The flat-headed man clipped the cigar in his hand.

He exhaled a puff of smoke.

"But we're still stuck here and can't move forward," the subordinate said with some worry in his eyes.

"No rush... their target is too big," the man took another sip of champagne.

"We'll follow the tire tracks later."

A smile of determination spread across his lips.
