Bai Ye watched the news with an expression of "I'm so awesome, I guessed it right," quite full of arrogance. He completely ignored the fact that this wasn't speculation, but something he had experienced in his previous life, and thus knew exactly what the Batman and Commissioner Gordon were planning.
This was a trap, designed to capture criminals attempting to hijack the transport vehicle and rescue the Joker.
Even Commissioner Gordon had, at the last minute, spent a hefty sum to purchase some advanced technological weapons from an arms company called "Stark Industries."
The facts proved they were successful, apprehending seven criminals.
However, Bai Ye wasn't particularly concerned. Was the strength of the evil faction weakened?
It was only seven people!
Based on the number of chosen ones who entered the City of Sin, three hundred people divided into two factions meant one hundred and fifty each. Capturing only seven individuals wouldn't affect the overall situation.
But hijacking the transport vehicle on the road was indeed a bad idea. Firstly, one would have to face the setup by Batman and Commissioner Gordon. Secondly, even if the Joker was successfully rescued, one would have to contend with attacks from the order faction and backstabbing from within the evil faction.
Those hundred sin points and the Joker's playing cards were not easily obtained. Only one person succeeded in rescuing the Joker. Therefore, the chosen ones of the evil faction were, in essence, in an adversarial mode against each other.
Of course, the order faction was no more harmonious, as only one of them could obtain the order points and the Bat-suit.
This was somewhat difficult to comprehend. The mission of the order faction was to prevent the Joker's escape. If the Joker failed to escape, it would mean all chosen ones in the order faction had succeeded.
But Bai Ye knew clearly that this was not the case. The Joker would inevitably escape. Even if none of the chosen ones from the evil faction intervened, this fact would not change. The Joker could escape from the detention cell by himself. Therefore, while the order faction's mission was to prevent the Joker's escape, it should actually mean recapturing the Joker after he had escaped, rather than simply preventing someone from rescuing him.
Thus, whoever escorted the Joker back would be considered to have completed the mission.
Time ticked by. Looking outside through the window, there was almost no visible abnormality, yet the atmosphere was heavy.
A low pressure permeated the air…
It felt like a storm was brewing.
Bai Ye lay in the rocking chair, gently swaying his body, as if meditating, or perhaps as if he had fallen asleep.
"help, help, help"
When the red capsule opened, Bai Ye found himself facing a massive stone.
The stone resembled a greatsword in shape, about as tall as Bai Ye, nearly half a meter thick. Its hilt was made of meteoric iron, very rough and bearing numerous scratches. At the same time, rusty chains were coiled around the stone.
On the front of the stone, four large characters were carved, with red paint as the background.
Eternal Suppression of the Southern Wilderness!
