Bai Ye leaned back in his chair, lost in thought, and took out a Taoist talisman.
"Water Charm!"
As the talisman burned, a stream of water appeared, swirling around Bai Ye's body. He felt as if he were soaking in a hot spring, his body warm and tingling.
Among the Five Spirit Charm techniques, the Water Charm was the only non-offensive one. It could heal minor injuries and restore some stamina.
Ordinarily, Bai Ye wouldn't have much use for the Water Charm. Not every opponent could push him into a desperate battle, so its cost-effectiveness was low. However, after continuous fighting, a Water Charm was quite pleasant.
After using the Water Charm, Bai Ye had no intention of leaving the subway station.
He didn't want to bother Bai Lu, and the Queen of Munitions was no pushover either. Moreover, after the consecutive battles, Bai Ye needed to adjust his condition. More importantly, it was almost midnight, and the gacha machine was due to reset.
There were no limits to when one could draw from the gacha machine, but it reset daily at midnight. With less than fifteen minutes until midnight, Bai Ye naturally decided to wait. He didn't want to leave the station only to get into another fight, and then have the item he drew from the gacha machine suddenly become unusable mid-battle. That would be a real disaster.
He took out a bag of beef jerky, peeled off the wrapper, and popped a piece into his mouth. After drinking some water, midnight arrived quickly. Bai Ye summoned the gacha machine again.
"I'm not asking for much. I'll trade ten years of my life for the lover of the son of the mistress of the dog my neighbor Old Wang keeps, for something on par with the Flying Dragon Sword Style." Bai Ye mumbled, bowing to his surroundings, and then said, "Here goes!"
The gacha machine soon emitted a mechanical whirring sound, and then a capsule dropped.
"Aha!" Bai Ye exclaimed happily, looking at the capsule on the ground. "Sometimes, metaphysics actually works."
The capsule that landed on the ground was, remarkably, a black one.
When Bai Ye opened it, a large expanse of golden light erupted. The light then gradually coalesced and took shape, forming the appearance of a dinosaur, but one clearly different from ordinary dinosaurs.
Its head was entirely hardened, covered in an exoskeleton like that of a beetle. It possessed sharp claws and massive, shelled horns, giving it a majestic appearance.
Tyrannosaurus Beast (Digi-Beast) (Black): A dinosaur-type Adult-stage Digi-Beast with a Vaccine attribute. It is a very aggressive Digi-Beast with high intelligence.
Effects: Super Flame (unleashes high-temperature flames to incinerate everything). Ultimate Evolution (can evolve into the ultimate form, WarGreymon. This form lasts for 30 minutes. After the duration, Tyrannosaurus Beast will de-evolve into the Rookie-stage Digi-Beast Agumon and require three hours of rest before reverting to the Adult stage).
"It's a Digi-Beast!"
Bai Ye looked at the magnificent creature before him, stroking his chin.
He generally looked down on Digi-Beasts as a means of combat. Their weakness was quite obvious: the manipulator of the Digi-Beast itself.
No matter how powerful the Digi-Beast was, if its controller was not strong enough and became the target of the enemy, the Digi-Beast's power would be meaningless.
However, this was a common problem for most chosen ones in Digi-Beast worlds. But was he a chosen one in a Digi-Beast world? No. Was he part of the majority? Also no.
"So, there's no problem at all. I'll protect myself, and you'll be responsible for taking down the opponent." Bai Ye patted Tyrannosaurus Beast's thigh. "I hope we have a pleasant cooperation!"
Tyrannosaurus Beast, true to its description, was remarkably intelligent and understood Bai Ye's words. It let out a low rumble as a response and then nuzzled against Bai Ye with its body.
However...
Tyrannosaurus Beast's strength was clearly too great. Bai Ye was directly thrown to the ground by its backside.
The next moment, a look of guilt appeared in Tyrannosaurus Beast's eyes.
Bai Ye chuckled. This guy was genuinely quite human-like.
"Don't worry about it," Bai Ye said, patting Tyrannosaurus Beast again. "I'm not that fragile!"
Bai Ye got up from the ground and went back to the gacha machine to draw a second capsule. Then...
"What the heck!" Bai Ye exclaimed in surprise. "Is the lover of the son of the mistress of the dog my neighbor Old Wang keeps that valuable? Can ten years of life trade for this much?"
The second capsule that rolled out of the gacha machine was also black.
When Bai Ye opened it, a ancient-looking scripture was inside, with the words "Xuan Ming Divine Palm" inscribed on it.
The moment the scripture entered his hand, it transformed into golden light and merged into Bai Ye's body.
Xuan Ming Divine Palm (Martial Art) (Black): An extremely venomous palm technique. The palm force is like a surging tide, and an extremely cold internal energy will surge into the body, causing the victim to feel bone-chilling coldness in an instant. The injured will display dark green five-fingered palm prints. The cold poison entering the body will make the skin feel icy cold, like touching a piece of ice, while the area around the wound burns as if scorched by fire, causing immense suffering.
"It's over, it's over! Let's go home, let's go home!"
Bai Ye felt an urge to cheer out loud.
He had no doubt about Tyrannosaurus Beast's power, but as a Digi-Beast, its inherent weaknesses indeed existed. Now, he had acquired a formidable martial art to enhance his close-combat abilities, compensating for the potential shortcomings of a Digi-Beast.
What was there to play?
The game was over!
He would beat anyone he encountered!
Bai Ye's confidence soared. Even if Situ Chicheng appeared before him now, Bai Ye would dare to confront him head-on.
Furthermore, he had only drawn two capsules, saving the last one just in case. And this time, Bai Ye wouldn't be reluctant to part with Divine Stone Fragments.
Although Divine Stone Fragments were precious, the wish reward was definitely worth a Divine Stone Fragment.
With these thoughts, Bai Ye beckoned to Tyrannosaurus Beast and walked towards the exit of the subway station.
Forget being a sneak, from now on, I am the God of War!
Bai Ye strode out of the subway station triumphantly and began walking along the street. Then...
Bai Ye was somewhat dumbfounded.
Where was everyone? Where had they all gone?
Bai Ye wandered the streets for nearly an hour, yet he didn't see a single soul.
The fighting had been so intense earlier, with five people dying in just over an hour. Now, there wasn't even half a person around? Had they all hidden?
Bai Ye felt a little flustered. When he wanted to be sneaky, everyone came out. Now that he wanted a direct confrontation, everyone had hidden and become a turtle in a shell? This wasn't how the game was supposed to be played!
As Bai Ye pondered this, the list of surviving personnel suddenly refreshed on the advertisement projection screen of a milk tea shop by the street.
Bai Ye had indeed wandered for an hour, only to see the new list refresh.
