Chapter 043 Doctor Hard

Bai Ye immediately bolted.

Even though Bai Ye's body had been enhanced by the T-virus, it was no match for a behemoth of this size. The difference was that a collision would turn him into a pulp, while a collision now would at least leave him in one piece.

However, with his enhanced physique, Bai Ye's speed was comparable. And while he couldn't match the Ceratosaurus in a physical brawl, it didn't mean Qiao Ye had no means to kill it.

Running forward rapidly, Bai Ye slapped the surrounding trees, leaving marks as he went, and then...

Rumble, rumble, rumble!

The moment the Ceratosaurus charged in...

Invisible Explosions!

Explosions sounded continuously, throwing the Ceratosaurus's massive body to the ground, its skin suffering blast injuries.

However, it was only for a fleeting moment.

After tumbling on the ground twice, the Ceratosaurus quickly resumed its pursuit of Bai Ye, clearly far more robust than the Velociraptor before.

But as the Ceratosaurus gave chase again, frost mist began to drift from the ground ahead.

Condensing Frost Sword, Sword Illusion of Frost!

Crack, crack!

As the Ceratosaurus stepped into the frost mist, its body was immediately covered in a layer of frost, slowing its speed.

At this very instant, Bai Ye slid to a halt, a talisman clutched in his hand.

"Lightning Charm!"

As the talisman burned, a bolt of lightning suddenly descended, striking the Ceratosaurus with full force.

A mournful roar echoed, and within the lightning, the Ceratosaurus shook its body.

"One isn't enough?" Bai Ye grinned. "Then have another!"

Bai Ye quickly took out a second talisman, held it between his fingers, and shook it. Then, as the second talisman burned, the Lightning Charm was activated again.

Boom!

Electricity flashed across the sky once more, and a second bolt of lightning struck the Ceratosaurus with immense force.

This time, the Ceratosaurus could not hold on. Its massive body swayed, then crashed heavily to the ground, black smoke billowing from its form. It twitched for a while before lying still.

Bai Ye let out a sigh of relief, casually waved his hand, and the Condensing Frost Sword, which had materialized as frost, flew back. He then scanned his surroundings.

In the chase with the Ceratosaurus, Bai Ye had discovered he had stumbled near a complex of buildings.

This brought a flicker of joy to Bai Ye. Could there be people here?

The probability was slim. This godforsaken place was now teeming with dinosaurs; it was more likely that any survivors had already been eaten. However, the presence of buildings meant Bai Ye might find food and fresh water.

But just as Bai Ye stepped through the shattered glass and entered a building...

"Human, human, it's really a human!"

Before Bai Ye could even assess what was inside the building, a voice suddenly rang out. Following the sound, Bai Ye saw a disheveled man running frantically towards him.

"Don't come any closer!"

Bai Ye immediately drew his playing cards, holding them between his fingers and warily eyeing the man. It wasn't just because the man looked utterly pathetic, even monstrous, like a demon.

It was because the man was holding a double-barreled shotgun, a bandolier of ammunition around his waist, and even two grenades holstered.

"No, no, no, I mean no harm," the man said, raising his gun, hurriedly. "I am Dr. Harding. You're here to rescue me, right? You must have been sent to rescue me!"

Bai Ye pointed a finger at the shotgun in the man's hand, then at the table nearby. "If you want to talk, point your gun horizontally, place it on the table, and keep your hands where I can see them, understand?"

"Okay, okay, no problem!"

Dr. Harding agreed readily, slowly turning sideways to place the gun down. But then, as if remembering something, he raised it again.

"Hmm?"

Bai Ye's vigilance instantly heightened.

Dr. Harding said, "I can lay down my weapon, but we can't talk here. It's too dangerous. We need to go somewhere safer."

Bai Ye thought for a moment, then nodded. "Alright!"

Bai Ye gestured again, and Dr. Harding placed the gun on a nearby metal table.

Bai Ye casually picked up the shotgun and slung it over his shoulder, then reached out and removed the grenades from Dr. Harding's waist.

"Follow me."

Dr. Harding called out, and quickly led Bai Ye to the side.

Only then did Bai Ye have time to observe his surroundings. It appeared to be a mess hall. Through a corridor, there was an office area with many laboratories, looking like some sort of research center.

After passing through the office area, Dr. Harding led Bai Ye to an electronic door. After entering a code, a passage leading underground opened up.

There was also space underground, seemingly another research area, but it had now become a living space.

Bai Ye saw cans of food scattered everywhere, along with other discarded living trash in a corner, emitting a pungent odor. A metal laboratory table had been repurposed as a bed, with a sleeping bag on it.

Dr. Harding said, "Alright, we can talk now. Who hired you? An investment firm? Or the military? You're here to help me, aren't you?"

Bai Ye shrugged. "Sorry, I'm just passing through."

Dr. Harding blinked, then became agitated. "No, that's impossible! Aren't you here to save me?"

"That's something we can discuss," Bai Ye said, pointing to a nearby monitor. "You must have seen my fight through this, so I believe you have a certain understanding of my strength. That's why you rushed to find me, isn't it?"

There was a row of monitors on the side of the room, including a view of the area outside the building complex, so the person had surely witnessed Bai Ye's fight with the Ceratosaurus.

Bai Ye continued, "However, I want to know what happened here first."

Dr. Harding hesitated for a moment, then said, "I wanted to create an extraordinary park."

Bai Ye chuckled. "Jurassic Park?"

"Yes, dinosaurs are the stars of this park," Dr. Harding explained. "I assembled a large number of renowned scientists, using the blood of ancient mosquitoes trapped in amber to extract dinosaur genetic information. Using this information, I cultivated and bred dinosaurs. And the fact is, I succeeded as I wished. You must have seen those creatures on your way here."

"Uh-huh," Bai Ye nodded. "But this scene doesn't seem to fit the word 'park'."

"Yes!" Dr. Harding seemed unusually grief-stricken, holding his forehead. "As you can see, there was an accident at Jurassic Park, and a major one at that."

...
