Davis got back in the car and started it.
They drove forward, stopping to explore some resource shops along the way, but it was meaningless; the buildings were empty.
Allen frowned and pointed to the side. "Let's check out that shop."
It was a furniture repair shop. After Davis entered, he quickly showed surprise and then ran out of the shop in a hurry.
"This shop isn't empty, there's something inside!"
Allen asked, "What is it? Is it related to resources?"
Davis was stunned for a moment and said, "No, it's not related to resources. There are some tools inside, and the bones of mutated creatures, and so on."
Allen frowned. "As expected."
Ji Ruyue asked, "Did you think of something?"
Allen said, "This place is exactly like the Ruined City, completely like a replica. So, is it a bit of a stretch to describe it as another world?"
Gonzalez asked doubtfully, "What do you mean?"
Allen said, "This world was likely artificially constructed, or it could just be an illusion. Of course, I'm not very clear on how it was built or how to prove it's an illusion, but the fact that there are no resources along the way indicates some problems."
Ji Ruyue nodded. "That makes sense, because no resource item can be replicated. After all, if such a thing were possible, they could just unify the Wasteland, or even rebuild civilization."
Allen frowned. "Those crystal people might be related to the Rhine Company, so could this world also be related to the Rhine Company?"
"Bingo!"
Bai Ye shouted in his mind.
He really liked intelligent people like Allen and Ji Ruyue.
They didn't need too many hints from him. With just a simple prompt, they would start thinking and even discover the clues themselves.
Davis and Gonzalez, on the other hand, weren't so good; they were too stupid.
And as long as Allen suspected something, the rest would be easy.
Because, as long as Allen suspected, he would be willing to investigate the Rhine Company. Then, all Bai Ye needed to do was give some hints and guidance, leading Allen to find clues, and finally, he would naturally discover everything.
On the other side, Allen said to Davis, "Don't stop anymore, just keep going. We're going to Laboratory No. 3."
Davis nodded.
The task their boss had given them was to find resources in another world, but at this point, it seemed almost impossible to complete.
In that case, following Allen to uncover the truth wasn't a bad idea.
The car quickly drove forward, and then a steel wall appeared in front of them.
This was the dividing line between the slum district and the affluent district. Beyond that steel wall was entirely Rhine Company territory.
Davis slowly parked the car by the side and then leaned his head out to look. "The gate is closed, but I don't see any guards."
Luka was that wall, which completely isolated the city in the Ruined World.
So, people in the slum district called this wall Luka.
And the people in the affluent district proudly called that wall the Gate of Paradise.
Inside the gate was paradise, and outside was hell.
"It's my turn." Ji Ruyue picked up a small metal box and said, "Give me fifteen minutes!"
Ji Ruyue took the box to the guardhouse by Luka, unscrewed the metal casing of a machine, opened the box, revealing a holographic computer.
Ji Ruyue pulled out two data cables, connected them to the equipment in the guardhouse, and quickly started typing on the keyboard.
Bai Ye looked at Allen and asked curiously, "She's also a computer expert?"
"Brain domain!" Allen pointed to his head and said, "Besides her special abilities, Ruyue is also very smart. After all, her brain domain is more developed than ours, so she knows a lot."
As Allen spoke, he took out a crumpled box from his pocket and offered some hand-rolled cigarettes to the others.
In the Wasteland, these were good things, very difficult to obtain, considered a luxury. Besides tobacco, alcohol was also like this.
Everyone had trouble getting enough to eat, so where would they get the grain to brew alcohol?
Bai Ye and the others opened the windows and blew out smoke rings. By the time the cigarettes were burned out, Ji Ruyue also came out of the guardhouse, carrying the box.
A small iron door opened slowly in a corner of the huge Luka.
Ji Ruyue got back in the car and said, "Let's go!"
After the car passed Luka, they were in the affluent district.
The affluent district was significantly different from the slum district.
The slum district was the most realistic portrayal of the Wasteland: dilapidated buildings, ruined land, people's clothes were all tattered, some even in rags.
Being able to fill their stomachs every day was a luxury. The entire slum district exuded a sense of sorrow and numbness.
For most people, it was just about surviving one day at a time.
But the affluent district...
The feeling was very mysterious!
The buildings in the affluent district also had a sense of desolation.
After all, beneath the Wasteland, everything was rotting, being swallowed by time, and gradually turning desolate.
However, if you looked closely, you would realize it wasn't that simple.
The surrounding buildings had clearly been repaired, there were no messy杂物, and although the streets were old, they had no cracks and appeared very clean. There were no雜物 on the sides of the streets, nor piles of scrapped cars.
Everything was just old, but compared to the slum district, it felt like they were still living the life before the Wasteland.
Continuing forward, there were even metal tracks still in operation, which could transport people anywhere in the affluent district.
Furthermore, all sorts of robots gradually appeared in their vision.
Barrel-shaped garbage cleaning robots, drone-like city surveillance robots, patrolling robotic dogs, and armed robots responsible for enforcement.
Of course, these robots were all stationary. After all, making robots move required energy, and the Mirror World was just a fake simulated world that could not replicate any resource products.
Davis clicked his tongue twice. "The affluent district is exactly the same as the Ruined City."
Ji Ruyue pouted. "As if you've been to the affluent district."
Davis retorted, "Why wouldn't I have? I've taken missions in the affluent district too!"
As Davis spoke, he slowed down the car to allow everyone to observe their surroundings, while Bai Ye's brows furrowed tightly at this moment.
Because...
"Due to a participant discovering and entering the restricted zone, Rhine Company's Laboratory No. 3 (Mirror World), all participants currently located in the Ruined City (Mirror World) will be included in this restricted zone."
Restricted zone...
Suddenly opened!
...
