Chapter 634 Dragging It Out

Shen Qingqing was delighted and wanted to tell Fu Jingshu immediately, but on second thought, he hadn't woken up yet, so she decided to wait until he was completely conscious.

She calmed herself and said to the doctor, "Take good care of him. Inform me immediately of any changes!"

"Alright."

Fu Tingsheng's condition had improved, and Shen Qingqing was very happy. However, this happiness didn't last long. The next day, she received bad news.

It was Officer Wang who notified her. On the phone, he only said that something had happened and she needed to come to the police station, but he didn't specify what.

Shen Qingqing didn't have time to inform Fu Jingshu, who was still at the company, and went to the police station alone.

Upon arriving, she saw Officer Wang with a serious expression. Shen Qingqing asked, "What exactly happened?"

Officer Wang simply replied, "Follow me. I'll take you to see Sima Yucheng, and I'll explain on the way."

The two of them turned and left the office. It took about two minutes to get to the holding cell. Officer Wang briefly explained the situation.

"Yesterday, Sima Yucheng suddenly came to the police station and said he wanted to surrender."

"Surrender?"

"Yes." Officer Wang still had a lot of questions about yesterday's events. "The crime he confessed to was illegally detaining Chenchen's personal freedom, kidnapping."

"That's impossible!"

Shen Qingqing rejected it without thinking.

Officer Wang said gravely, "I also find it impossible, but he told the story with so many convincing details – the time of Chenchen's kidnapping, the times and locations of the transfers, the arrangements for the people involved..."

So many details were enough to be considered evidence. Most importantly, he had the bodyguard's number.

Furthermore, he had questioned the bodyguard. Although the bodyguard hadn't seen the employer's face, he knew the employer's number, which was a card without real-name verification.

Now, this card appeared in Sima Yucheng's possession.

He confessed to everything without denial, claiming he did it all.

Shen Qingqing refused to believe it. "This is too absurd. We didn't know each other before. What reason would he have to do this? Besides, he was abroad during that time. What kidnapper would actually hand over the kidnapped person to a group of hired bodyguards?"

It was full of loopholes!

Officer Wang ruffled his hair in frustration. "Even if we all know the truth, Shen Qingqing, you must understand that if he insists on pleading guilty, is clear about the details of the crime, and there's no evidence to prove someone else did it, then this matter is essentially settled."

Even if Sima Yucheng wasn't immediately convicted, they would have no grounds to continue investigating Fu Tingyi.

Shen Qingqing gritted her teeth. "Let me see him first."

As they spoke, they arrived at the door of the holding cell. Before coming, Officer Wang had already contacted his colleagues to bring Sima Yucheng to the interrogation room.

Through a pane of glass, Shen Qingqing saw Sima Yucheng.

He looked haggard, his hair messy, wearing a black suit that seemed disheveled. His eyes were bloodshot.

He looked at Shen Qingqing expressionlessly, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes.

Shen Qingqing couldn't discern it, nor did she intend to. She picked up the phone and asked, "Why are you confessing to a crime you didn't commit?"

Sima Yucheng slowly picked up the receiver. "How do you know it wasn't me?"

Shen Qingqing said coldly, "I just know. You have no reason to do this. We didn't know each other at all. You claim you kidnapped Chenchen. What was your motive?"

"I couldn't stand Fu Jingshu."

"He's known as the uncrowned king in this city, and one of the top figures in the business world. But we're about the same age, and I'm just not as outstanding as him. Even my father often praises him."

Sima Yucheng said slowly.

But his words lacked any emotion – no dissatisfaction, jealousy, envy, or even anger.

"You're lying!"

Shen Qingqing rested one hand on the table, leaning forward and closing the distance. Through the glass, the sharpness in her eyes was unmistakable.

Sima Yucheng met her gaze for a moment before looking away.

"I'm not lying. I'm telling the truth. I deliberately took you to that villa, but I informed them to leave in advance before we went, which is why you couldn't find them."

Shen Qingqing said word by word, "Do you know why I called the police the last time you threatened me?"

Sima Yucheng paused and subconsciously shook his head.

"Because I knew it wasn't you who kidnapped Chenchen. Your confession is meaningless." Shen Qingqing's eyes flashed with a cold glint. "It only makes me more certain that it was him."

Sima Yucheng lowered his head indifferently. "As you wish."

His nonchalant attitude, as if he didn't care about the consequences, made Shen Qingqing frown. "Sima Yucheng, why are you doing this? What did he threaten you with?"

Sima Yucheng quickly looked up at her, then lowered his head again.

"I don't understand what you're talking about."

Shen Qingqing noticed that his expression suddenly became peculiar, as if he was anxious and flustered, or perhaps panicked.

It seemed her guess was correct.

Sima Yucheng took a deep breath and quickly said one sentence before putting down the receiver.

"I don't want to talk to you anymore. I've already confessed. Judge me as you see fit, but please don't pressure me anymore. I truly don't understand what you're saying."

He looked up at the police officer and said something, and the officer had to escort him away.

Shen Qingqing's gaze followed his figure until Officer Wang patted her shoulder. She slowly put down the receiver and turned to look at him.

"I'm sorry to trouble you."

She knew that for Officer Wang, this wasn't a necessary task. If someone confessed, the case could be closed. Dragging it out was merely to give her some explanation.

Officer Wang, seeing her somewhat distressed expression, said, "You should go back and rest. Don't worry about this end; I'll try to stall as much as possible."

Shen Qingqing nodded. "Okay."

She turned and left the police station. Standing on the road, she looked at the overcast sky and twitched the corner of her mouth. Was even heaven seeing her mood?

Upon returning home, she found the living room unusually empty.

She grabbed a maid, and before she could speak, the maid exclaimed joyfully, "Madam, you're back! Hurry and see, Mr. Fu has woken up!"

To differentiate between Fu Jingshu and Fu Tingsheng, they always referred to Fu Tingsheng as Mr. Fu, and Fu Jingshu as Sir.

Shen Qingqing immediately ran upstairs.

At a glance, she saw the tall man standing at the door of the room, silent.

Shen Qingqing walked over slowly. Fu Jingshu stood outside, while Fu Tingsheng was inside, or rather, sitting.

Because he was in a wheelchair.

The two stood facing each other. Fu Jingshu held his phone and knew she usually communicated with the doctors inside via video call, but he showed no intention of making a call.

This made the doctor beside them quite anxious.
