Xixi was instantly pleased and felt her previous attitude had been a bit too harsh. She then said, "It's good that Uncle understands my intentions. I didn't mean to control you, I just hope you can recover soon."
Mr. He understood such simple reasoning, and replied with a smile, "You don't need to explain. I know you mean well for me."
Xixi chuckled, "As long as you know."
As they were conversing harmoniously, a servant knocked on the door.
The butler said, "Come in."
"Sir, Butler, we have a visitor."
"Who is it?"
"Miss Ning."
Xixi suddenly turned her head to look at the servant.
Mr. He pondered for a moment, "Bring her to the reception room."
He then looked at the butler.
"Please entertain her for me and say that I am unwell and not seeing any guests today. Any matters can be discussed another day."
"Yes."
The butler turned and left the bedroom.
Xixi thought about the project her mother had mentioned, which Mr. He and Ning Xin had allegedly colluded to snatch away. "Uncle, is this person very important to you?"
Mr. He paused, "Why do you ask?"
"I've been here for so many days, and I haven't seen any guests come to see you. And this time it's a lady. Is she your confidante?"
Xixi blinked, her face full of gossip.
Mr. He found it both funny and exasperating, "You know the meaning of 'confidante' at such a young age?"
"Of course I do, don't underestimate me." Xixi lifted her chin, quite proudly, "I know that a confidante is similar to a male confidante, just that one is male and the other is female!"
Mr. He gave a thumbs up, "Amazing."
"Uncle, please stop praising me. You don't look well, you should rest properly."
Xixi tucked him in, then watched him close his eyes before turning to leave. After closing the door, she hesitated for a moment, but still didn't go to the reception room.
As long as Mr. He didn't go, she believed the butler wouldn't discuss cooperation with Ning Xin.
She changed course and headed to the kitchen.
She planned to make some fruit salad.
When the fruit was ready, she heard the servants passing by and chatting.
"Has that Miss Ning left yet?"
"No, and I just saw the Sir go to the reception room as well."
"Then it seems this Miss Ning is truly a distinguished guest for our Sir. Every time she visits, he personally receives her. Even though he was unwell this time, after initially sending the butler, he still went himself in the end..."
Xixi couldn't hear the rest.
After the servant finished cutting the fruit, he said, "Young Master, would you like to eat in the living room?"
Since seeing how much importance the Sir and the butler placed on this child, the servants had unanimously agreed to call him Young Master.
"I won't eat, you guys eat."
Xixi finished speaking, turned, and walked towards the second floor. She had already observed all the rooms on the second floor and knew that the reception room was in the room on the left at the end of the corridor.
She walked to the door and stopped. There was no one on the second floor at the moment. She pressed her ear against the door, trying to hear the conversation inside clearly.
Unfortunately, this time the door was tightly shut, and the soundproofing was at its maximum effectiveness. She couldn't hear anything at all.
Xixi felt a bit annoyed.
Since she couldn't hear, she wouldn't waste any more time here. She turned to leave and saw a servant walking up. At the same time, the door behind her made a soft sound.
She absolutely couldn't let Ning Xin see her!
Xixi quickened her pace towards the stairs. The servant instinctively greeted her, "Young Master."
Xixi didn't stop.
The butler, who had just walked out of the room, frowned slightly, "Did the child come by just now?"
The servant said, "When I came up, I saw the Young Master heading towards the stairs."
She didn't know if he had gone to the reception room.
The butler nodded, then closed the door. Mr. He's gaze fell on him, "What is it?"
The butler shook his head.
Ning Xin looked at Mr. He, then at the butler, and suddenly said, "I just heard you mention a child... Does Mr. He have any children?"
Mr. He explained, "It's a relative's child, staying with me for a while."
"I see. It's a pity I didn't know before I came, otherwise I would have brought some gifts for the child," Ning Xin said with an apologetic smile.
"No need. The child has everything here and lacks nothing. Please don't go to the expense."
Ning Xin smiled, then changed the subject, "You said yesterday you wanted to sign with me, but when I went to your company, your staff told me you weren't there due to illness. I came specifically to visit today. Are you feeling better?"
Mr. He smiled warmly, "I am much better. Yesterday, I had too much on my plate, and combined with my lack of energy, I forgot about the signing. I apologize for that."
He apologized sincerely, and Ning Xin did not intend to make things difficult for him further. After all, he was a major client, and it was only right to be patient and accommodating.
She took out a contract from her bag.
"Since you're not feeling well, don't go to the company. Signing at your home is the same. If you're worried about any oversights during the process, you can record the entire session. We can sign the contract as soon as possible so we can proceed with the planning for this land."
With the contract in hand, and having come to his doorstep, Mr. He felt he had no choice but to sign. However, he disliked the feeling of being cornered. "I believe, from a professional standpoint, this contract should be signed at the company, and all company shareholders must be present. This is not something I can decide alone; they also have the right to know."
"But..."
"Miss Ning, please rest assured, I will not go back on my word. It's just that I'm truly unwell recently. Once I feel better in a couple of days, I will immediately go to the company. I will have someone notify you in advance."
Mr. He spoke in a very gentle tone, without any sharp edges. Yet, it was precisely this seemingly mild tone that made Ning Xin unable to refute him, as every word he said was reasonable. She couldn't insist further.
Unless she wanted to fall out with him.
"Alright, then we'll do as Mr. He wishes."
Mr. He said softly, "I truly apologize for making you come all this way for nothing this time. I hope our cooperation goes smoothly from now on."
"Naturally." Ning Xin showed no sign of displeasure. She even concernedly reminded him, "Company matters are important, but your health is even more so. I hope you recover quickly so you can return to the company and take charge. Without you overseeing this project, I'm afraid the people below won't be able to manage."
This statement expressed both concern and flattery. Mr. He gave a faint smile, "Don't worry, I will get better soon."
"It's getting late, so I won't disturb you any further. Please get some rest."
Ning Xin stood up and took her leave.
Mr. He had the butler escort her. They walked and talked all the way to the main entrance. Ning Xin suddenly stopped, as if sensing something, and looked back.
"What is it, Miss Ning?" the butler asked.
