Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Presenting the Treasure of the Building_1
"Mhm!"
As Daniel led Su Xuan and Alice to the private room, he happened to glance back. He noticed two security guards approach the tricycle, pull up a cordon, and completely surround it. The guards vigilantly scanned the area, clearly intending to keep everyone away.
Daniel exclaimed in amazement. My God! This service is too good! I have to come to Lycar more often! I am going to rave about Lycar’s service from now on!
"You guys!" Su Xuan also saw what the guards were doing and gave them a helpless smile.
When the guards saw Su Xuan smile at them, they were absolutely overjoyed.
"Mr. Su, Lycar’s service and dining quality are the best of the best!" Daniel said to Su Xuan while ordering their food in the luxurious private room. "I fell in love with this place after my first visit! Please, don’t hold back tonight. Enjoy your meal to the fullest!"
Su Xuan nodded and casually asked, "This meal you’re treating me to... is it out of your own pocket, or is it a company expense?"
The question was so down-to-earth that it caught Daniel completely off guard. Could this be Mr. Su testing me? To see if I’m sincere about this dinner?
Daniel immediately replied, "My position allows me to use the company’s client entertainment budget. However, I felt an instant connection with you, Mr. Su, and I truly love this restaurant. So tonight, I’ll be paying out of my own pocket. Let’s just consider it a private gathering between friends, completely separate from business."
As expected of the CEO of Caranda’s Huaxia Region, his words were incredibly deft and put one completely at ease. After speaking, Daniel glanced at Alice, who was seated next to Su Xuan, and gave a gentlemanly smile.
A man has to be generous in front of a beautiful lady! Letting the company pay is just so petty! But more importantly, Su Xuan is Caranda’s second-largest shareholder. What’s the difference between using company funds and making Su Xuan pay for his own meal?
"Out of your own pocket, huh..." Su Xuan murmured thoughtfully.
Then, he nonchalantly glanced at the server.
The server immediately understood and gave Daniel a sweet smile. "Sir, since you’re paying personally, you might consider getting one of our membership cards. It allows you to enjoy even higher-quality, more personalized service, as well as privileges unavailable to regular customers. It will definitely be worth your while. We have the Platinum Card, Diamond Card, Starlight Card, and King Card..."
Daniel’s interest was piqued. The service he’d already received was impressive enough; the thought of even better service was very appealing!
His eyes shining with enthusiasm, Daniel said, "No problem, I’ll get a Starlight Card!"
He had chosen what he assumed was a mid-tier card. In the past, others had always treated him at Lycar, so he wasn’t familiar with the membership levels and had no idea how much a Starlight Card cost.
The server’s smile was radiant. "The Starlight Card only requires a top-up of fifteen million to own."
The corner of Daniel’s mouth twitched involuntarily. Why is it so expensive?
He glanced at Su Xuan, only to find Su Xuan looking right back at him.
Daniel immediately broke into a wide grin. "As the CEO of Caranda’s Huaxia Region, I’m fortunate that the company provides me with a generous salary. Getting a Starlight Card is a simple matter for me. Let’s do it!"
The server promptly brought over the POS machine and processed the card for Daniel. She also shot Su Xuan a look of immense admiration and gratitude. She admired him because every time he dined here, he brought incredible revenue to Lycar. If only he would eat here every day! And she was grateful because Daniel’s new membership would count towards her sales quota, which was a delightful bonus!
Su Xuan hadn’t intended to swindle Daniel. Since Daniel enjoyed dining at Lycar, getting a membership card was actually the most suitable option for him. At the same time, it would secure a high-end client like Daniel for the long term, which was also a great benefit for Lycar.
「Ten minutes later」
All the dishes and drinks had been served.
Daniel, having researched Chinese drinking culture, began toasting Su Xuan with great enthusiasm. He had armed himself with several key theories:
With deep affection, you chug it down! With shallow friendship, you just take a lick!
Better a hole burns in your gut, than a crack forms in your trust!
When drinking with a true friend, a thousand cups are too few! Drink as much as you possibly can!
If the leader isn’t drunk, my career won’t get unstuck...
Armed with this knowledge, his drinking with Su Xuan could only be described as heroic. His only regret was that Alice wouldn’t touch a drop of alcohol; otherwise, he would have definitely shared a few rounds with her as well.
"Mr. Su, are you really a courier?"
Half an hour later, emboldened by the alcohol, Daniel couldn’t help but ask. He simply couldn’t comprehend how a man of such staggering wealth would be riding a tricycle and delivering packages.
"You could call it a hobby," Su Xuan said, taking a sip of tea to clear the taste of alcohol from his mouth. "Just like how some people enjoy skiing and others enjoy fishing, I enjoy getting things people need into their hands on time. It gives me a sense of..."
As Su Xuan searched for the right words, Daniel immediately raised his glass. "A sense of serving the people! Mr. Su, you are truly a great man! Let’s drink to that!"
Su Xuan burst out laughing. This Daniel fellow was quite amusing! He had no choice but to down another glass with him.
He was also amazed by Daniel’s drinking capacity. If this continued, Daniel might actually drink him under the table! Besides, could it be that Caranda put Daniel in charge of the Huaxia region because of his drinking capacity?
Seeing that Su Xuan was also drinking heartily, Daniel took a deep breath, ready to go for another round, when a man led a group of people into the private room.
It was Liu Ming and the entire senior management team of Lycar.
"What is all this...?" Daniel stared blankly at Liu Ming and the others, clueless as to why they were there.
The server quickly stepped in to introduce them, explaining to Daniel that this high-level treatment was a privilege he could enjoy because he had become a member.
Upon hearing this, Daniel was overcome with flattery and felt that the card was absolutely worth the price.
"A toast to Mr. Daniel!"
"Mr. Daniel, I’ll finish mine, but please, take your time!"
"I’m a lightweight—three cups and I’m out. That means I can only toast you with these three! GULP, GULP... There, my three cups are gone!"
In the blink of an eye, Daniel was toasted by Liu Ming and his team until he was seeing stars and didn’t know his own name. He truly couldn’t drink another drop.
Liu Ming and the others hadn’t been summoned by Su Xuan. They had been discreetly keeping an eye on his private room. When the server mentioned how much Daniel was drinking, they couldn’t resist coming over to provide some backup for Su Xuan. It certainly wasn’t because of some measly Starlight Card.
At Lycar, no one could outdrink Su Xuan.
"Mr. Su, I absolutely love it here in China!" Daniel slurred after Liu Ming’s group left. He steadied himself on his chair, swaying as he fumbled in an inside pocket. "I must settle down here and become a Chinese citizen! Oh, and I have a little gift for you!"
Although he was thoroughly drunk, his expression was extremely solemn as he took out an object and handed it to Su Xuan.
Su Xuan took it and his eyes narrowed slightly.
It was an antique-style rectangular box. Inside, resting on a velvet cushion, was a glittering golden pen. The body was clearly made of solid gold, and its top was crowned with an enormous diamond. It looked incredibly lavish and was obviously worth a staggering amount.
His name was also engraved on the pen’s body.
This was indeed a very thoughtful gift.
Daniel, his breath reeking of alcohol, began to slur unintelligibly.
Su Xuan frowned. He’s so drunk he’s started speaking English.
Alice, who had been dining quietly the whole time, stepped in to translate.
"He says this pen is worth ten million. The diamond, in particular, was cut from the world’s largest diamond, the African Star."
"That diamond alone is worth over nine million."
"It was once used by the British royal family."
"Later, it was acquired by Caranda’s headquarters at an auction and displayed in the Caranda Huaxia Region building as its prized treasure."
"Now, it has been engraved with your name, making it your own special and exclusive item."
She paused, then added, "Oh, and Su Xuan?"
"He’s quoting all the prices in US dollars."
