Chapter 261: Chapter 261 The guy who was eating got robbed_1

The centipede wanted to kill the little green snake and Big White. It was confident it could.

After all, I’m an Insect Gu. As long as I find Su Xuan and burrow into his brain, I can turn him into a Bug Puppet. Then I’ll be able to manipulate his body and do whatever I want!

But just then, the last thing it wanted to see happened.

A huge paw suddenly descended from the sky, slapping down toward it. Big White had finally found it!

Sensing danger, the centipede hurriedly retreated and dodged the fatal blow. But the little green snake was right behind it.

The little green snake opened its mouth and bit down, catching half of the centipede’s body in its jaws!

No need to panic! I’m poisonous! Poisoning a snake to death will be no problem!

The centipede struggled in the little green snake’s mouth for a moment, then fiercely sank its fangs into the snake’s cheek.

But then, another unexpected thing occurred. Big White lifted its foot again and stomped on the little green snake’s head, pressing it firmly against the ground. The force slammed the snake’s mouth shut!

CRACK!

The centipede was instantly bitten in two.

Big White lifted its foot, looked at the bisected centipede on the ground, and emitted a satisfied grunt.

The slender little green snake lifted its head and gave it a shake, completely uninjured.

GRUNT!

Big White then strutted off. It only enjoyed stepping on things, not eating them. Once its objective was complete, it lost all interest in playing. The little green snake happily devoured the remaining half of the centipede by itself and then also left, fully content.

A battle-hardened centipede, and just like that, it died a pitiful death. All the while, its master was still enjoying himself in the small, orange-lit shop.

「Early the next morning.」

Su Xuan pushed open his door and stretched. But as he did, his neck made a loud crack, and suddenly it was crooked! He tried to straighten it with his hand, but it was excruciatingly painful.

"Su Xuan, did you sleep on your neck wrong? Are you alright?" Wang Xuehan asked with concern as she walked out of the kitchen, seeing Su Xuan’s tilted head.

Su Xuan looked perplexed. "I just stretched, and my neck got stuck like this. How strange!"

He knew his body had been enhanced by the system more than a dozen times; it shouldn’t be possible for his neck to get crooked so easily.

"That’s actually quite normal," Wang Xuehan gently reassured him. "Some people get leg cramps after just a few kicks while swimming. Your situation is similar. It should get better with a little rest. If it hasn’t improved by the afternoon, you should see a doctor."

"Alright then!"

Su Xuan thought Wang Xuehan had a point, so he ate breakfast with his neck still crooked.

While eating, he noticed something: the green bracelet on Xiao Yun’s wrist was gone. He had long known it wasn’t a real bracelet but a little green snake—the very same snake that had killed the assassin who could change his voice.

"Xiao Yun, where’s your little treasure?" Su Xuan asked, raising his hand and pointing to his own wrist.

"Brother Su Xuan, I have some great news!" Xiao Yun said with a sweet smile. "My little treasure is growing up! It’s shedding its skin in my room right now!"

"That really is great news," Su Xuan laughed. "Soon you’ll have a new belt."

"A belt?"

Xiao Yun was confused for a moment, but then it dawned on her and she burst out laughing. "Brother Su Xuan, you’re hilarious!"

He’s right! Once the little green snake gets bigger, I won’t be able to wear it as a bracelet anymore. I really will have to wrap it around my waist like a belt. The thought of that is actually pretty funny. In the future, whenever I run into a bad guy, I’ll just say to them, "Hold on, let this young lady take off her belt first!"

"Alright, you all take your time. I’m heading out to make some money!" After finishing breakfast, Su Xuan wiped his mouth and walked out the door with his neck still crooked.

Just as he stepped out, two sets of eyes fixed upon him.

"Senior Brother, has your Insect Gu failed?" Wei Haojie asked, hiding in a corner and nudging Zhao Ling beside him. "How can that kid walk out of his house on his own?"

Those transformed into Bug Puppets were incapable of independent action unless commanded by the Insect Gu’s master.

"It couldn’t have failed, could it?" Zhao Ling scratched his head in confusion. "Are you sure that’s the kid with the surname Su?"

The command he had given the Insect Gu was simple: turn an adult male in the mansion into a Bug Puppet. Last night, Su Xuan was the only adult male in the mansion.

"It must be him," Wei Haojie stated. "Senior Brother Zhai said the guy named Su is young and handsome, very easy to spot. Look, he’s the most handsome man on the whole street."

By now, Houhai Street was bustling with people. Even with a crooked neck, Su Xuan was still the best-looking person around.

"Maybe he hasn’t fully transformed into a Bug Puppet yet. He might still have a sliver of consciousness left," Zhao Ling mused. "Look, his neck is already crooked. He might be in the middle of his transformation. Let me test him."

With that, Zhao Ling walked toward Su Xuan. Wei Haojie hurriedly followed. Today, their clothes were quite normal, not strange like the night before.

"I hope I can complete another super order today!" Su Xuan muttered to himself, rubbing his neck as he sat down in his car.

Just as he was about to drive away, he saw two strangers standing outside his car window.

JINGLE! JINGLE!

The older of the two pulled a small bell from his clothes and, for no apparent reason, began shaking it at him through the car window.

"Are you guys selling toys?" Su Xuan asked, rolling down the window.

"Uh..." The two men, Zhao Ling and Wei Haojie, were stunned by his question.

The bell was the medium used to control Bug Puppets. Even if Su Xuan hadn’t fully transformed, the sound of the bell should have influenced his words and actions, making him act completely unlike a normal person. But why was Su Xuan totally unaffected? How could he have the bizarre idea that they were toy sellers?

"Kid!" Zhao Ling said sternly, still shaking the bell. "Don’t you know that I am your master? Get out of the car and kneel before me this instant!"

As he spoke, he nearly shoved the bell right into Su Xuan’s face.

"Uh..." This time, it was Su Xuan’s turn to be stunned.

Have I run into a couple of lunatics? Or is this some kind of strange sales pitch to trick me into buying the bell?

"Fine, I’ll buy it," Su Xuan said, tired of playing their game. He reached out, snatched the bell that was right in front of his face, and tossed them a hundred-yuan bill. "Keep the change. You guys look like you’re having a hard time."

With that, he drove off.

"Uh..." Holding the hundred yuan, Zhao Ling stared dumbfounded in the direction Su Xuan’s car had disappeared.

"Senior Brother!" Wei Haojie nudged Zhao Ling’s arm. "He stole your bell!"

Zhao Ling’s mouth hung open. "I know."

Wei Haojie asked, "Have you ever encountered a situation like this before?"

Zhao Ling shook his head. "Never."

"What do we do now?"

"What do you think? We get the bell back, of course!"

The Bug Puppet art was his greatest skill. Without that bell, he was practically useless.

The two hurriedly hailed a cab and sped off in pursuit of Su Xuan.
