Chapter 126: Chapter 126 There is a traitor among the fawning dogs_1
"My boyfriend..."
"He’s here?"
"He’s outside parking the car!" Tian Cheng’s voice was a little shaky. Although she and Su Xuan were very close, they hadn’t made their relationship official.
"Oh, then we’ll see him in a bit," one of the girls said.
"Tian Cheng was always the little goddess of our class. So many of the boys had a crush on her!" another chimed in.
"Her boyfriend must be really handsome!"
"And definitely super rich!" a few girls on good terms with Tian Cheng joked, their tone free of any sarcasm.
"He’s parking?" the same girl from before, Chang Sasha, looked at Tian Cheng and asked in a snide tone. "It really is hard to find a spot today. Even though I came early, it took me forever to find a space for my little BMW! What kind of car does your boyfriend drive?"
Her animosity toward Tian Cheng wasn’t just because her own boyfriend had been captivated by her a moment ago; there was an old grudge fueling it. Years ago, she’d had a huge crush on a boy, constantly buying him breakfast, game skins, and memberships to streaming sites. She had really gone all out for him. When she felt the time was right and confessed her feelings, the boy rejected her. He told her he’d actually had a secret crush on Tian Cheng the whole time and had only ever seen her as one of the guys.
Her world came crashing down, and she instantly came to hate Tian Cheng’s guts. Fortunately, the boy never managed to win Tian Cheng over, which soothed her wounded pride a little. But seeing Tian Cheng again today, the old flames of resentment flared up once more.
"His car..." Tian Cheng glanced at Chang Sasha, then at her other female classmates and their boyfriends. Not wanting to bruise anyone’s ego, she answered tactfully, "His car is pretty average, similar to what everyone else has."
"So it’s a BMW or a Mercedes, then?" Chang Sasha pressed, gesturing to the others at the table. "Everyone’s done pretty well since graduation, or at least found a good boyfriend. The cars here are all decent, starting at around three hundred thousand yuan. Tian Cheng, what exactly do you mean by ’similar’?"
After speaking, she shot a look at another female classmate, one who also hadn’t gotten along with Tian Cheng back in school. It wasn’t over a boy, but pure envy of Tian Cheng’s good looks.
"Yeah, Tian Cheng, just tell us!" the other girl chimed in. "It’s just a car! They’re all just for getting around. What’s there to be embarrassed about!"
That was enough to make Tian Cheng’s temper flare. "His car is worth over a hundred million!" she declared.
She was sure that would shut Chang Sasha up for good. But in the next moment, her eyes widened as she seriously began to wonder if Chang Sasha had a hearing problem.
"Pfft!" Chang Sasha sneered. "Oh, so his car is a Lavida!" She nudged her boyfriend. "Didn’t your friend just buy a Lavida? How much was it?"
Her boyfriend replied, "A little over a hundred thousand, I think."
Broke loser! Chang Sasha scoffed inwardly. With that, she dismissed Tian Cheng as a rival. After all, her boyfriend had bought her a BMW that cost over three hundred thousand yuan. Tian Cheng was no longer in her league.
Women can be such strange creatures. They can hold a grudge against someone for years over one incident, only to forgive them in a split second over another.
"Tian Cheng, come on, let’s add each other on WeChat." Chang Sasha immediately pulled out her latest iPhone and walked over to Tian Cheng with a face full of enthusiasm. "I lost my old phone, and my WeChat account along with it. I just got a new account with this phone, and I don’t have you on it yet!"
The other classmates listening could only twitch their lips. She’s never even had Tian Cheng on WeChat, has she?
Resigned, Tian Cheng added Chang Sasha on WeChat.
CLICK!
Chang Sasha pressed her cheek against Tian Cheng’s and snapped a selfie. She then returned to her seat, carefully applied a beauty filter to her own face but not to Tian Cheng’s, and made a post on her social media.
"Having a lovely dinner with an old classmate today, so happy! Sadly, I didn’t get a picture of her boyfriend—he was busy looking for a parking spot for his Lavida..."
With this post, I can finally put our years-long grudge to rest! Hee-hee!
Tian Cheng soon saw the post. She rubbed her fair forehead in frustration. This is going way too far!
She glanced at her other classmates. A few of them who had been quite warm to her at first were now looking at her with a hint of disdain, all because they heard her boyfriend drove a car worth only a hundred thousand.
Seriously? Could you guys not be so materialistic? You were all so innocent back in school! Has society really gotten to all of you?
Su Xuan... Hurry and get here... Tian Cheng couldn’t help but look toward the door of the private room, desperately hoping Su Xuan would arrive soon and save her some face. Otherwise, she was afraid she might lose her temper completely.
"Everyone, let’s eat! We can chat while we eat!" The host, who had also seen Chang Sasha’s post and thought she’d gone too far, urged everyone to start the meal, hoping to stop her from pestering Tian Cheng.
And so, everyone dug in. Their boyfriends swung into action, diligently serving food to their girlfriends. Those with a high tolerance for alcohol repeatedly drank on their girlfriends’ behalf.
"Oh my god!" Chang Sasha suddenly shrieked, slapping her boyfriend’s arm. "You were supposed to be serving me, not dropping food on my new outfit! This cost eight thousand! As punishment, you’re buying me a new one tonight!"
"I’m so sorry, so sorry!" her boyfriend exclaimed, forcing a smile as he tried to wipe the oil stain off her clothes with a wet wipe. Anyone could see the flicker of undisguised bitterness on his face.
As if by contagion, the other boyfriends at the table showed similarly pained expressions.
Alas! Women were hard to find these days, and their standards were impossibly high. To escape singledom, they had no choice but to become humble bootlickers. They treated their girlfriends like fragile glass, handling them with the utmost care. They bought them exorbitantly expensive clothes, while they themselves only dared to buy discounted items online, reeking of cheapness. They couldn’t even risk getting sick, terrified that another bootlicker would swoop in and take their place.
Yes. Bootlickers were allies, but also mortal enemies. And when a certain price was driven sky-high, not a single bootlicker was innocent.
"Brothers, let’s have a toast?"
"It’s rare we all get to meet like this."
"You’re right! Come on, drink up!"
The pack of bootlickers raised their glasses and downed the bitter alcohol in one go.
CREAK!
Just then, the door to the private room was pushed open.
It must be Tian Cheng’s boyfriend!
Everyone’s gaze snapped to the entrance. The women’s eyes instantly lit up.
The bootlickers, however, were dumbfounded.
Whoa! Why does the vibe of this bootlicker feel so different from ours? Could it be... there’s a traitor among the bootlickers?
