Chapter 340: _ Impeccable Performance
The room was just as I had left it. That faint smell of flowers that Rosario always made sure to swap out every three days. The way the bed was always neatly made, and the way sunlight gently filtered in through the windows. It was all the same. There were no changes, well, except for myself.
"¡Dios mío... It smells like a new car here." I couldn’t help grinning from ear to ear. Yes, I have hopped from body to body over the past few months, and I had even walked around in my own body during the night, but it couldn’t compare to this.
See, those times, it always felt like a noose was around my neck. I felt shackled, I felt caged. That was why I had to sit and listen to Axel’s rambles every fucking time. Ese hijo de puta... that son of a bitch!
I clenched and unclenched my fists in rage. Things were only starting to get interesting.
But first... I looked at Mateo’s sorry corpse. I needed to clean all traces of the crime that happened here. I raised my hand, and suddenly felt a surge of power course through my veins.
"Oh? Seems like my master sent me off with a little gift." I chuckled when I noticed my obvious increase in power. He must be particular about whatever role he needed me to play here.
The very fact that he allowed me to return would be his downfall. Oh yes, I wasn’t going to get revenge on just Axel and the foolish Montenegros. No, every single person, human or demon, was going to feel my wrath.
The torment I suffered in the bowels of hell was still fresh in my mind.
From now on, I wasn’t going to play by anybody’s rules. Big Daddy Luis was going to do whatever he wanted. And no damned person on this planet would be able to stop me!
I flicked my wrist and the shadows surged to envelop the corpse, before completely consuming it. Then, my gaze shifted to my former companion. My wheelchair.
My lips curled into a strained smile. I didn’t know how to feel about the damned thing. I hated it, that was for sure. However, the wheelchair had also been there with me every step of the way. So, in a way, it was the only true friend I had.
"You saw me weak and helpless," I muttered as I walked over to the wheelchair and sat in it.
Carajo, it fits too comfortably... My jaw clenched reflexively.
I sighed and continued, "You saw me when I was slowly growing in strength. And now, you’re going to witness my rise as the world’s conqueror."
...
I didn’t wake long before I heard a faint creak. My predictions were precise, as I saw Rosario step into the simply furnished room. The dump this damned family allocated to me. Rosario, voluptuous and sinful Rosario... I almost let out a grunt.
"Vaya tarde más bonita, Luis." She said in sing-song form as she twirled around the room.
Lovely afternoon, señora... I chuckled. It was about to be the most memorable afternoon of the century. Seeing Rosario’s huge bosoms sway seductively with every movement almost made me jump at her. One more ride wouldn’t be so bad, ey?
But no, I resisted my carnal impulses. Now wasn’t the time for that. There was no time to waste on such mundane satisfaction.
As she went about her usual routine of singing, I began. I started with a simple twitch of my hand. Of course, stupid Rosario was too lost in her fantasies to notice. Axel would’ve.
My expression soured at the thought of that bastard.
I did something more bold this time. A grunt.
Rosario stopped singing. She looked around with a puzzled expression and muttered, "Qué raro, Luis... I could’ve sworn I heard something just now." She shrugged and resumed dancing after a few seconds.
Yes, you did. You pig! I rolled my eyes and made another grunt, this time louder and more intently.
Rosario’s brain finally seemed to click, thank goodness! She approached me with a puzzled expression and scrutinized my face. I let out another grunt, and this time, I added a few twitches of my hand.
Rosario’s face slowly switched from puzzlement, to surprise, to joy. Joy is equivalent to a toddler who has just discovered candy.
"¡Dios mío! Luis! You’re trying to speak!" She jumped up with stupid excitement. Heh, her reaction was expected though. I was Big Daddy Luis after all. And I was returning to the world in all my full glory.
After a few hand twitches and Rosario’s pitched screaming, I finally raised my arm, and I spoke, "Ro— Rosario..."
"Oh, my! Luis! You spoke my name!" She practically leapt forward and kissed my forehead. Despite how uncomfortable I felt, I remained seated. I needed to play my part perfectly, so she wouldn’t notice anything suspicious.
Rosario pulled back and yelled, "¡Todos, por favor, vengan rápido!"
"Luis is moving!"
In a household full of wolves, surely everyone heard that. Good girl, Rosario... I grinned inwardly. And, just as expected, the door slammed open with a furious bang.
And there he was... the first person to show up, huffing with eyes that were filled with hope, confusion... and joy?
Axel.
Damned Axel.
He jumped to his knees in front of me. I hadn’t moved a single twitch since he stepped in, but he could feel it. He could feel that I had gotten better, somehow. He scrutinized my face and gasped, "Rosario... you’re right! Luis..."
He suddenly grabbed my shoulders, rather furiously, to be honest.
"Come on, Luis! You can do it! Push, Luis! Fight it! Fight this fucking fate!"
I had no idea why his words instilled strength in me. Even though I could very much jump to my feet and slam his face against the damn wall, his words sent a wave of defiance through me. Defiance of the cruel fate I had been subjected to.
And so, I yelled, I yelled so loudly that Axel fell backwards in shock. Rosario held her chest in disbelief. The other maids who had arrived and stood by the door all wore looks of disbelief.
And when I finished yelling, I fell forward. Before my body could hit the floor, Axel rushed forward to grab me.
Like a poor, helpless child, he held me.
"I’m here, Luis. I’m here." He said, his voice chock-full of tears.
To top off the impeccable performance, I whispered softly, "Axel..." before shutting my eyes and pretending to pass out.
