Chapter 437: Chapter 145: Project Approval_3

Here stood several rows of traditional multi-story residential buildings. The architectural style was quite simple, with most of the residential buildings being four stories high. The houses were evidently a bit old, but it was clear they were well maintained.

The place was spotless, and the environment was far better than the railway residential area in Star City.

According to the unit number given by Qiao Xi, Qiao Yu directly found building 3, unit 2, on the second floor, and after knocking on the door, it took a while before Qiao Xi, still bleary-eyed from sleep, opened the door.

“Why are you here so early? It’s only seven o’clock!”

“Staying up late and getting up early is good for your health.” Qiao Yu casually replied, then slipped into the room.

“Change your shoes!”

“What? Isn’t this a dormitory? Why make it so complicated? Hey? Not bad, it’s a two-bedroom apartment?”

Indeed, after rushing in, Qiao Yu had already toured the internal layout of the house.

To be honest, the layout was somewhat similar to their old house in Star City, except that the kitchen and bathroom had swapped places.

Under Qiao Xi’s melting gaze, Qiao Yu obediently went to the door and changed into a pair of slippers.

Sure enough, Mom still loved him. His slippers had been prepared even though he had just arrived yesterday, so he couldn’t help but ask, “Did you buy these new slippers for me yesterday?”

Qiao Xi casually replied, “No, they were already here when I moved in yesterday. Elder Yuan had thought of everything, even things I hadn’t thought of.”

Alright, Qiao Yu felt his emotions were wasted.

“It must not have been Master Grandpa, but Master Grandpa had arranged everything and naturally someone helped prepare it. However, your two-bedroom apartment is indeed a bit excessive. I didn’t get such treatment!”

Qiao Yu said jealously.

At Yanbei, he only had a one-bedroom apartment.

But the advantage was it was right within the research center, which wasn’t far from the School of Arts, School of Mathematics, Weiming Lake, Boya Tower, and the East Gate.

The East Gate of Yanbei University was one of the busiest entrances, next to the subway line, much more convenient than here.

“Makes sense, but is it possible they arranged a two-bedroom place specifically for me hoping you’d stay more on the Huaqing side in the future?”

Qiao Xi casually said while preparing to brush her teeth in the washroom.

Qiao Yu thought it made a lot of sense. Master Grandpa probably thought just that; otherwise, there was no need to specifically allocate a two-bedroom apartment to Qiao Xi. You could say Master Grandpa had a good heart.

Qiao Yu sat directly on the obviously newly replaced sofa in the living room, then lay down on it entirely.

Got to say, it was soft and quite comfortable.

“This place is nice, feels just like home.” Qiao Yu remarked.

No one paid him any attention, and a few minutes later, Qiao Xi came out of the bathroom and asked, “What did you just say?”

Qiao Yu shook his head and said, “Nothing much. By the way, how did Master Grandpa arrange things for you? Did he tell you last night?”

“He gave me a few books to self-study for a while, and once school starts, I’d attend classes with the talent class. He even tested my English skills, saying some courses would be entirely in English, with textbooks and notes in English too.”

Qiao Xi replied casually.

“Hmm, that’s simple. But you’ll need to memorize the technical English. I reckon the courses taught entirely in English are similar to those at Yanbei, namely algebraic geometry, topology, differential geometry, those kinds.”

“Oh.” Qiao Xi replied noncommittally, then asked, “By the way, did Teacher Yuan say you could start on research projects already?”

“Yeah, I plan to have you join the team too. Haha, you represent Huaqing’s Elder Yuan, and I represent Yanbei’s Director Tian. If we work on this project together, we’ll be unstoppable.”

Qiao Yu said sneakily.

“Don’t mess around. Yesterday Elder Yuan talked to me about it. He personally believes it’s best I don’t get involved in this project right now, fearing it might affect the key project review. Besides, I really don’t have the ability right now.”

Qiao Xi shook her head, refusing.

Qiao Yu nonchalantly said, “Master Grandpa is worrying too much. I’m telling you, I don’t even need to form a research group for this project. At most, I’d have to work a bit harder, but we can finish it if we spend more time.

As for the project application, I know about that already. It’s just about getting some funds for exchanges, hosting meetings, and such. Our math research doesn’t need to buy any lab equipment.

If it doesn’t get approved, so be it! After all, this project doesn’t really require any money. When the time comes, just a few of us early on will build this axiomatic framework. It’ll be the same.

Qiao Xi glared at Qiao Yu and said, “Don’t fool around, it’s not as simple as you say! Elder Yuan said yesterday that organizing seminars, academic forums, and specialized courses all need funding.

If you can really get this project done, it’s not just about publishing papers, but you also have to publish books and textbooks. You think none of this costs money? Moreover, do you think Professor Tian invited so many professors for you to do lectures merely out of friendship?”

Qiao Yu said seriously, “I’m not fooling around. What Master Grandpa said was true, but I don’t need that. Why bother with seminars, academic forums, and all those flashy things?

I already told you, even if I’m the only one, I have confidence to get this project done. Let alone I can find people to help me. You need to have faith in me.

If in the end, the project application doesn’t go through, it’s not my loss, you understand? Just listen to me on this, I’ll speak with Master Grandpa later.”

Qiao Xi said speechlessly, “Why are you so anxious about this? I’m just here in Beijing to study, I have no ambition to truly become a great mathematician!”

Qiao Yu said solemnly, “It’s not that I’m anxious, but I think you’re also accustomed to learning through work. Moreover, the framework I want to build doesn’t require understanding very advanced mathematics at the initial stages.
