Chapter 385: A Glimpse into the Future

Wen Nuan put her phone on the table and smiled, looking elegant and poised. "I am a little surprised. Didn’t you say there was an emergency in your family and that you wouldn’t be coming to A City for a while?"

Wen Nuan was surprised that Dudi was looking for her today. The reporters were already waiting at the entrance, but Dudi’s people had taken care of a few reporters on the side street. Wen Nuan wanted to go home early to have dinner with Ye Feimo, so she got into Dudi’s car. She didn’t expect Dudi to say he had something to talk about. Her phone was also not working, so she couldn’t even call Ye Feimo to let him know.

"Dudi, could I please use your phone?" Wen Nuan said with a smile. Dudi handed her the phone. Wen Nuan thanked him and dialed Ye Feimo’s personal number.

The phone rang for a long time before Ye Feimo answered. His voice was cold. "Ye Feimo!"

Wen Nuan chuckled. "It’s me. My phone is broken, so I’m using someone else’s. Are you off work?"

Ye Feimo paused and looked at the phone number. He knew what was going on and a small smile appeared on his face. "I’m off work."

"I’m sorry. I was going to ask you to have dinner with me. Can I bring you some takeout later?" Wen Nuan asked with a smile. She looked at the special calendar on the table and said the name of the restaurant. "You’ll probably like the food here."

"Takeout? What time will you be home?"

Wen Nuan looked at Dudi and then at her watch. Dinner shouldn’t take more than an hour. Dudi came all the way to see her about something, so an hour should be enough time to talk while they ate.

"I’ll be home by 8," Wen Nuan said.

The wind by the river was giving Ye Feimo a headache. What would Dudi say to Wen Nuan? Would he tell her everything or hide it from her? He suddenly wanted to know what this man was thinking.

"I understand."

Dudi raised an eyebrow, his lips slightly pursed, and his eyes darkened. This was the woman he was engaged to since he was a child, but she was already married, and Ye Feimo doted on her. They were very happy.

Wen Nuan turned to make her phone call. Her eyebrows were curved in a happy smile. Anyone could see how happy and content she was. It was also clear how much she loved the man she was talking to on the phone.

Dudi gave a small laugh. He was a talented man with a good personality, handsome looks, and a good family background. He had always been popular with girls, but his parents had warned him that he was already engaged. Although his fiance had been missing since she was a child, his parents were firm in their belief that she was still alive and that he was a man with a fiance and should not be involved with other women.

When it came to love, the Du family’s education was all about being faithful from the very beginning.

Dudi had never cared for other women and had never met a woman he liked.

If he had to say who the most important person in his life was, besides his mother and sister, it would be his fiance. Although he had never seen her, he had been searching for her for many years to reassure his parents and the Long family.

But now, Dudi hesitated.

He had found her, and it was very likely that Wen Nuan was a descendant of the Long family. But should he still insist that this woman was his? She had already found her own happiness.

If she hadn’t been separated from him when she was a child, he was sure she would have fallen in love with him and stayed with him for the rest of her life.

But now, he was a step too late.

Wen Nuan chatted with Ye Feimo for a few minutes, hung up, and returned the phone to Dudi, thanking him sincerely. Dudi shook his head. "Don’t be so polite."

"So, what did you need to talk to me about?"

"You must be hungry after a long day at the film set. Let’s order some food and talk while we eat."

Dudi ordered red curry seafood. Wen Nuan ordered white curry vegetables and a dessert. Dudi asked with a laugh, "Are you on a diet?"

"Yes," Wen Nuan said with a smile. She wasn’t really on a diet. She just wanted to eat something simple so she could get home and eat with Ye Feimo. Wen Nuan ordered a few of Ye Feimo’s favorite dishes to go. Dudi didn’t mind.

The food was served quickly. Wen Nuan didn’t eat much. "Are you back to talk about business?"

"I’m looking for someone," Dudi said calmly.

Wen Nuan smiled. "Do you need my help?"

Dudi looked at her smiling face and a small smile appeared on his lips. Wen Nuan was a happy and optimistic person. He thought, "If I tell her everything, she might lose that bright smile."

Especially about that curse.

She loved Ye Feimo so much. She would be heartbroken if she found out.

"I was going to ask for your help, but I see you’re so busy, so never mind."

"It’s fine. My scenes are done, so I have some time to rest. I don’t have anything going on for now. If you really need help, just tell me. I’ll help you in any way I can. Are you looking for someone very important?" Wen Nuan asked with a worried look.

Dudi nodded. "Yes!"

*Someone very important.*

Wen Nuan looked at Dudi curiously. She really couldn’t think of who would be so important to him besides his family. She and Dudi got along well, but they hadn’t known each other for long. She only knew that he was emotionally detached. So, who could be so important to him? Could it be someone he likes?

"Can I ask who she is to you?"

"My fiance," Dudi said. Wen Nuan’s eyes lit up. She pointed at Dudi and said, "Your fiance?"

A smile appeared on Dudi’s sharp face, and he raised an eyebrow. "Is it strange that I have a fiance?"

"I thought you didn’t have anyone you liked. I can’t believe you have a fiance! You never said anything," Wen Nuan said. She was genuinely happy for Dudi. But why was his fiance missing?

"You never asked," Dudi said calmly, taking a sip of white wine.

Wen Nuan looked confident. "Just tell me her name, and if you have a photo, and what she does. I promise I’ll help you find her in a few days."

Even if she couldn’t, Feimo definitely could. This would be a way to pay him back. She and Ye Feimo owed Dudi a favor because of his sister. It would be a way to settle their debt.

"Let’s not talk about it anymore. I suddenly don’t want to find her," Dudi said calmly, looking at Wen Nuan. "Maybe she’ll be happier without me. I shouldn’t bother her."

A hint of sadness appeared in his eyes. It made Wen Nuan’s heart ache for him.

Did he love his fiance very much?

So, he was also a man with a past.

Wen Nuan didn’t know the story between Dudi and his fiance, so she didn’t want to pry. It was hard for an outsider to judge someone else’s relationship.

Dudi asked calmly, "Wen Nuan, do you believe in fate and curses?"
