Chapter 417: No Escaping Fate
The turbulence was just a small hiccup. Wen Nuan’s fear response was long, so by the time she was able to react, the plane had already calmed down. Even her mother looked a little pale from being scared. It was her first time experiencing such strong turbulence. Being so high up in the sky was terrifying, and the constant shaking made her mind race with thoughts.
"That was so scary. Wen Nuan, are you okay?" her mother asked worriedly.
Wen Nuan shook her head gently. She was fine. How could anything happen to her? Her heart was in a completely different place, and her fears didn’t seem to have anything to do with death. Sensing the intense gaze next to her, Wen Nuan turned away and avoided looking into Ye Feimo’s eyes, closing hers instead to rest.
Wen Nuan’s mother caught her glance and looked at Ye Feimo. She saw him staring at Wen Nuan intently. As an older woman, she could see the tenderness and deep affection in his eyes. He really did love Wen Nuan.
As a mother, seeing her son-in-law like this made her feel very relieved.
She felt that the two of them, who had gotten to this point, were still deeply in love with each other and shouldn’t get a divorce.
Ye Feimo’s feelings were so obvious. Her mother couldn’t understand why Wen Nuan wanted a divorce. She clearly loved Feimo. During the turbulence, she was scared, but Wen Nuan, who was usually more afraid, was surprisingly calm. She found it very strange.
It was probably because Ye Feimo was next to her, so she felt calm.
Because he was her most reliable harbor.
No matter what happened, Wen Nuan could trust Ye Feimo.
Because of this, her mother started to think that divorce might not be the only option.
The turbulence had calmed down after a while. Wen Nuan was bored, so she picked up a newspaper to read. Ye Feimo glanced at Zhang Ling, who gave him a magazine. He seemed to be engrossed in reading it.
Wen Nuan peeked at Ye Feimo and saw a picture of herself on the cover of the magazine. Her heart sank. There had been too many negative articles about her recently. He was probably looking at some kind of trashy tabloid.
She felt annoyed and crumpled up the newspaper, throwing it to the side. Her mother was already used to it and asked, "What did the media write about you this time?"
Wen Nuan shook her head and closed her eyes again to rest.
After going back and forth a few times, Ye Feimo was still looking at the same magazine. Wen Nuan could see that the magazine was the tabloid from Green Light Daily.
Wen Nuan remembered that when she and Ye Feimo lived together, he had a strong opinion about Green Light Daily. He would never read their newspapers or magazines. He had even criticized Green Light Daily as if there were no other reputable media outlets in the world besides Anning.
Wen Nuan had gotten used to his narcissism and was numb to it at the time.
But one thing Wen Nuan was sure of was that Ye Feimo didn’t read Green Light Daily. He had a small conflict with the CEO of Green Light Daily over a model. Apparently, the model was with the CEO of Green Light Daily, but she took an interest in Ye Feimo and tried to seduce him. Ye Feimo fell for it, and the two had a small dispute.
But the CEO of Green Light Daily didn’t dare to mess with Ye Feimo because he didn’t have as much power as Ye Feimo.
So Wen Nuan was very curious about what the Green Light magazine was writing about.
She was very curious, but Ye Feimo had been reading it for two hours and showed no signs of putting it down. Wen Nuan felt embarrassed to ask a flight attendant. A mother knows her daughter’s heart. Her mother knew exactly what Wen Nuan was thinking and was happy to be the middleman.
"Miss, do you have another copy of that magazine? I want to read it, too," her mother asked casually. The flight attendant looked at the magazine in Ye Feimo’s hand and said calmly, "I’m sorry, ma’am, we don’t provide that magazine."
Wen Nuan’s face flushed. She turned and glared at her mother, silently blaming her for being meddlesome. The thought of what Ye Feimo was thinking at that moment made her face feel even hotter.
Ye Feimo said considerately, "Mom, you want to read it? I just finished. Here you go."
He held out the magazine. The flight attendant had already recognized the family. Wen Nuan was a public figure, and Ye Feimo was, too. The news about them had been all over the city. The flight attendants were sharp and had already noticed them. But the couple hadn’t spoken since they got on the plane, as if they were strangers.
The atmosphere between them was very strange.
Outsiders had been saying that the two of them were getting a divorce, and the flight attendant had secretly gossiped about it during her break. Many people guessed that they would get a divorce, especially since Wen Nuan was so cold to Ye Feimo. So, of course, they would gossip about it.
Ye Feimo had always been seen as a cold man. The flight attendants were impressed that Wen Nuan dared to be even colder to him. After all, what celebrity who had married into a wealthy family wasn’t obedient to their husband?
Wen Nuan’s mother took the magazine and flipped through it. At first, she was shocked, and then she smiled and nodded. "So that’s what it is."
Wen Nuan was even more curious. What was in that magazine?
Her mother was so engrossed in it. It was unbelievable. Wen Nuan glanced over. Her mother was reading intently, laughing to herself, and occasionally looking at Wen Nuan and then at Ye Feimo. Her expression was very strange.
Wen Nuan’s curiosity was piqued. She really wanted to read it.
But reading it would show that she was curious about Ye Feimo’s every move. It was too embarrassing. Wen Nuan thought angrily, *Why doesn’t Ye Feimo go to the bathroom? If he did, I could sneak a peek.*
Her mother asked considerately, "Wen Nuan, do you want to read it?"
Wen Nuan said calmly, "No!"
Her mother smiled and continued to read the magazine. The corners of Ye Feimo’s lips turned up in a happy smile that he couldn’t hide. Wen Nuan’s face flushed. Her reaction was a dead giveaway. The thought that Ye Feimo was probably laughing at her and thinking about who knows what made her face feel even hotter.
After a while, Wen Nuan thought to herself, *Ye Feimo, why aren’t you going to the bathroom yet? You’re going to hold it until you die!*
*This is so boring. I really want to read that magazine...* Wen Nuan tried to control herself and not turn to her mother, but she couldn’t help but look over. Wen Nuan was in a bind. All she could see were her own pictures, but nothing else.
What was the magazine writing about her?
After a while, Wen Nuan couldn’t take it anymore. She asked her mother, "Mom, are you done?"
Her mother shrugged, as if she had been ready to give it to her all along, just waiting for her to ask. She immediately handed her the magazine. Wen Nuan caught a glimpse of a smile on Ye Feimo’s face that he couldn’t hide.
