Chapter 1639: Chapter 1639: A Single Bullet
"In a moment, let someone go in first to distract them! If possible, lead the people away and then rescue the hostages. If things go south, shoot decisively! Once we hear gunfire, we’ll provide immediate support!"
"I’ll go, Captain," said Xiaoliang.
"Okay, Xiaoliang, you’re the most resourceful and you have excellent adaptability! You go! But, you must ensure the safety of the hostages. Do you understand?"
"Yes."
"Prepare to move!"
Xiaoliang, dressed in plain clothes, unlocked the safety catch on his pistol and tucked it behind his waist. Then he opened a bottle of alcohol, poured it over himself, grabbed a handful of dirt from the ground, and smeared it haphazardly on his face, making sure to get his clothes dirty in the process.
He then pretended to be a drunkard, staggering into the place with the empty alcohol bottle in hand.
"I just went to check out the other side. People there are dealing in stolen vehicles and also engaging in drug trading," said Qin Jian, who appeared out of nowhere, squatting next to the captain, leaning against a half-brick wall.
"Does that mean the people inside aren’t Wang Jiu?" the captain asked.
"No. They’re probably just the lookouts transferring to Lin Qiushu," replied Qin Jian, peeking out to assess the situation. "You take a team to block those trading drugs and stolen vehicles. I’ll go rescue the hostage."
"All right." The captain gestured, and all the ambushers headed towards the direction Qin Jian pointed out.
Before leaving, Qin Jian held out his hand to the captain, "Give me three bullets."
The captain, taken aback for a moment, then understood and decisively removed three bullets from his own magazine to Qin Jian: "Lieutenant Colonel Comrade, you really are cautious."
Qin Jian weighed the three bullets in his palm and decided to give two back to the captain: "I’ll keep one. You guys have a limited supply of bullets too, right?"
"Yes."
There are regulations for receiving guns and bullets for any operation. The exact number of guns and bullets needed is precisely calculated, especially when dealing with small criminal gangs.
You can’t just be given a bunch of guns and a box of bullets to shoot indiscriminately without restriction.
The military operates the same way.
It’s all under strict control.
"Is one bullet enough?" asked the captain.
"Enough! It’s just for a precaution." In theory, he wouldn’t need this bullet, but considering the possibility of having to escape with Qiushu, this bullet could prove very useful.
"Okay. The hostage is in your hands! We’re going after the drug dealers!" As the captain retreated, he muttered, "Looks like we need to apply to establish a special drug enforcement unit. Otherwise, the criminal investigation team will be worn out."
"Captain, can you spare me two bullets too?" Zhao Dong, the reconnaissance company commander, somehow appeared as well.
"What are you doing here? Don’t you know this is a breach of discipline?" Qin Jian frowned and whispered.
"Just pretend you don’t know," said Zhang Dong with a dazzling smile. "How can a drug bust go on without me?"
"I bet you just want to join the excitement! Are you here to settle personal scores?"
"No! Captain, I can explain..."
"Enough. There’s no time to explain. Go and help them. If you dare get hurt, I swear I’ll punish you severely when I get back, kid!" Qin Jian said, clenching his teeth.
"Yes!" Zhao Dong grinned and stealthily made his way to assist the criminal investigation team.
Taking a deep breath, Qin Jian loaded the bullet into the chamber and stood up, heading towards Lin Qiushu’s location.
