Chapter 307: Chapter 309: Get out, bring someone else in!
Finally, she saw the light of hope and ran towards it with all her might.
Her heavy eyelids slowly rose. The bright light stimulated her eyes, causing them to wince shut in an instant from the sharp pain.
At this moment, her hearing was extraordinarily sensitive. A deep, magnetic male voice resounded, "Awake?"
She recognized it. It was the voice of Thomas Shannon. The illusory dream was finally kicked away; this was reality...
Sophie Sullivan opened her eyes again. This time, she clearly saw Thomas Shannon sitting by her bedside, his incomparably handsome face tinged with faint worry. His dark eyes, vast and brilliant, seemed to harbor the entire Galaxy, so bright it was impossible to look away.
Sophie moved her lips, wanting to speak. Perhaps the movement strained her face, causing her to frown in pain.
"What’s wrong?" Thomas Shannon stood up. Noticing her discomfort, he immediately grabbed her hand. "Does your face hurt?"
Sophie gripped his hand, clenching it tightly.
"Charlie, call for George Stanford!"
Charlie River, who was guarding the room door, heard Young Master Shannon’s roar. He responded and then hurried off nonstop to find George Stanford.
"Mr. Standford!"
Upon arriving at George Stanford’s room, George Stanford, who was resting, heard the urgency in Charlie River’s voice.
He opened his eyes nonchalantly. "Has Fiona woken up?"
"Yes, she’s in a lot of pain. Mr. Standford, it might be best for you to go see her."
"It’s normal for her to feel pain; it would be strange if she didn’t. Have the nurse give her a painkiller injection. She’ll be fine after enduring these two days."
George Stanford waved him off and closed his eyes again. "Go, I want to sleep."
Since George Stanford had spoken, Charlie River had no right to insist that he personally attend to her.
He left the room, called for a nurse, and prepared the painkiller injection.
"Young Master." Returning to the room, Charlie River reported George Stanford’s words verbatim to Thomas Shannon. Thomas Shannon’s thin lips pressed tightly together as he gave the nurse a cold look. "What are you standing there for? Give her the painkiller injection."
The nurse shuddered, replying in a trembling voice, "Yes, Young Master!"
Under Thomas Shannon’s intense gaze, the nurse missed the mark twice in a row. Sophie trembled with pain.
Thomas Shannon grabbed the nurse by the back of her collar and flung her aside. "Get out! Get someone else in here!"
"Yes, Young Master..." The nurse ran out of the room, crying.
Charlie River quickly called for a doctor to personally administer the painkiller injection to Sophie. This time, the injection was administered smoothly.
Sophie lay with her eyes wide open, unable to utter a word. The pain on her face began to gradually spread to her head, which also started to throb intensely.
She was in unbearable pain, gripping Thomas Shannon’s hand tightly, her fingernails digging deeply into his skin.
Thomas Shannon knew she was in a lot of pain, but beyond her enduring it herself, he couldn’t help her in any way.
"Hang in there," Thomas Shannon whispered.
"The pain medicine should kick in within ten minutes. Just bear with it a little longer," the doctor also commented from the side.
What was normally a brief ten minutes now felt excruciatingly long. Sophie counted every minute, every second in her heart, until the unbearable pain on her face gradually dissipated, eventually becoming numb.
Only then did she release a slow sigh of relief, her grip on Thomas Shannon’s hand finally loosening.
Thomas Shannon waved his hand, signaling the doctor to leave. The doctor and Charlie River left the room together, closing the door behind them.
