Chapter 516: 516 Mu Hanyan’s fury
Watching as young Swordsmen one by one fell into pools of blood before her, Mu Hanyan’s heart couldn’t help but feel a pang of pity.
Only those who had experienced death knew its horrors. Although Mu Hanyan was cold and emotionless towards enemies, these young people were not her enemies; they were just a group of peers who had been innocently sent to their deaths by a lie. How could she possibly remain indifferent?
"Get out, get out quickly, or we’ll all die here," Mu Hanyan couldn’t help but shout loudly.
Hearing her words, many showed hesitation. Even though the hope of escaping the predicament seemed just ahead, one had to be alive to have hope. Rather than sending one after another to their deaths, it might be better to stay put and wait for Zhengying Academy to send help.
"Mu Hanyan, if you’re afraid to die that’s your own business, but do you really want us all to stay here and die with you!" Qu Fengting furrowed his brows and roared angrily.
Seeing that they were getting closer to the palace, just a few more deaths and his mission would be accomplished; how could he willingly let this opportunity slip away.
"Don’t listen to her nonsense. Staying here is a certain death. Only by breaking out can we live," Qu Fengting’s lackey also shouted from behind him.
"Do you remember our oath when we established the Unity Alliance? United we stand, in life and death, without regret. Now everyone, listen to my command. Charge forward together. Anyone who dares betray our cause, don’t blame my sword for being merciless!" Qu Fengting brandished his Longsword, his face full of authority as he commanded.
The young Swordsmen all grew stern. When they had formed the Unity Alliance, they had sworn to work together in life or death, following Qu Fengting’s commands. If anyone violated this command, they would be executed. If they retreated now, even if Qu Fengting killed them, no one would stand for them later.
"Kill!" At this point, they had no way out but to grit their teeth, casting aside their fears of life and death, and charge forward following Qu Fengting.
"Let them go if they want to die. You all get out first," Seeing several more Swordsmen fall in an instant, Mu Hanyan shook her head in helplessness, and spoke to Mu Cheng and Wu Qiuyun.
"Brother Han Yan, please be careful," Mu Cheng knew he and Wu Qiuyun would only be a burden if they stayed, and that Mu Hanyan would be much more agile without them. So, seizing the moment Mu Hanyan was fighting the Thunder Wolf, they quickly fled the battlefield towards the direction they had come from.
Wu Qiuyun also retreated, looking at Mu Hanyan wanting to say something but after thinking it over, he remained silent. Given the dangerous circumstances, it exceeded his expectations, and the priority was to each keep himself safe, so he felt it inappropriate to make any requests to Mu Hanyan.
"Don’t worry. I have some unresolved issues with the Qu family too, even if I hadn’t met you, I definitely wouldn’t let Qu Fengting succeed," Mu Hanyan knew what he wanted to say and nodded.
These Exotic Beasts gathered here, clearly to guard that palace. Seeing that Mu Cheng and Wu Qiuyun had left, they did not pursue.
Relieved, Mu Hanyan and Yan Yuchu pressed forward together.
In the narrow crevices of the cliffs, the roar of beasts and the cries of battle filled the air.
One after another, bodies of the young littered the ground, their blood dyeing the Earth red, the air itself tinted with a faint crimson color, the pungent smell of blood was thick and overpowering. It was a horrific and heart-wrenching sight!
Looking at the mangled bodies, a fierce anger surged in Mu Hanyan’s heart.
If they had listened to her and retreated earlier, at least half of them could have survived. But now, they would forever remain in this desolate valley.
And all this, merely over a lie, for Qu Fengting’s selfish gain!
