Chapter 680: 680 Han Yan’s response to Ye Lanfeng’s feelings
"Angang." Mu Hanyan’s face lit up with a smile as she reached out to touch Angang’s fluffy head, "Hey, it feels really good."
"Little Yan Yan, did you miss me?" Angang looked up and rubbed his head against the palm of Mu Hanyan, his eyes squinting contentedly.
"Angang is so good, of course I missed you," Mu Hanyan responded with a smile.
"Little Yan Yan is the best. The master is really mean, last time I returned, he flicked me so hard that I fell off the table, and he didn’t even buy me any treats," Angang said, touching his chubby little butt still scared, "It was just because he received the oranges you sent and was happy, and I took out two oranges saying they were from you, right? He’s just petty, jealous of me, Humph!"
Hearing this, Mu Hanyan hesitated for a moment, then almost burst out laughing. She suddenly imagined Ye Lanfeng’s expression when he received an orange, and how Angang proudly took out two oranges claiming they were his to show off, which turned Ye Lanfeng’s expression dark and made him unable to resist teaching Angang a lesson.
It was really childlike, yet also very... adorable.
A tender smile appeared on Mu Hanyan’s face, one that was so gentle she didn’t even notice it herself.
"This is from the master for you." Angang pulled out a letter from the small bag on his belly and held it up to Mu Hanyan’s nose.
Mu Hanyan took the letter, returned to her room with Angang, and sat at the table in the middle. She placed Angang on the edge of the plate that held pastries, then prepared to open the letter. Angang, excited, jumped into the plate, taking bites from one pastry and licks from another, then looked up at Mu Hanyan with bright eyes, emotionally confused, "Little Yan Yan really likes me the best, you even prepared so many pastries for me."
Mu Hanyan didn’t notice Angang’s thought, she opened the letter and read the few strong characters on it, feeling an indescribable stirring in her heart.
The words were not many, but the content that came through was incredibly intense.
"Missing you, how have you been lately?"
Mu Hanyan put down the letter and picked it up again, her heart beating a bit faster.
This was the first time Ye Lanfeng had expressed his feelings so directly, leaving Mu Hanyan feeling somewhat overwhelmed, and there seemed to be a faint, inexplicable feeling.
The room was very quiet, the only sound was Angang quietly stuffing pastries into his bag. Mu Hanyan stood by the window, watching the full moon in the night sky, feeling a deep sense of peace. Suddenly, she started laughing, a soundless laugh, and everything around seemed to come alive. Angang, seeing Mu Hanyan’s smile, dropped the pastries he was holding back into the plate. Then his eyes turned green, "Ah, my Little Yan Yan is truly the most beautiful in the world!"
Mu Hanyan turned around, casually picked up Angang, and went straight to the study. Entering the study, she was about to grind the ink herself, but Angang had already started doing it with his little paw, quite skillfully, as he had done it often. Mu Hanyan thought of how Ye Lanfeng often "enslaved" tiny Angang to do these tasks, and her lips twitched.
Mu Hanyan wrote a sentence on the paper.
A mere few words, yet they expressed her feelings clearly.
"I’m fine, and you? Missing you too."
That moment when Mu Hanyan suddenly laughed in the bedroom was when she truly acknowledged her own feelings.
Having lived once before, Mu Hanyan didn’t see restraint or pretentiousness as virtues, especially in matters of the heart.
Ye Lanfeng had already expressed his feelings so openly.
She examined her own heart and found herself moved as well.
So, why be pretentious?
If missing out because of so-called subtlety, then what’s the point of life?
So, Mu Hanyan replied with a letter.
Mu Hanyan packed the letter and handed it to Angang. Angang carefully placed it in his little pouch, then reluctantly looked at Mu Hanyan.
"Little Yan Yan, I’m going back now," Angang said, clearly reluctant.
"Why don’t you rest here overnight before leaving? You just got here, and going back so soon will be tiring," Mu Hanyan said, looking at the chubby Angang with pity. This little one must come from no ordinary family, yet Lan Feng used it like a carrier pigeon, flying back and forth. If such a cute creature had a female owner, she probably wouldn’t bear to make it work like this.
"Really? Can I sleep with Little Yan Yan?" Angang’s eyes lit up upon hearing this.
"Sure. Rest for the night before you head back," Mu Hanyan replied, her lips twitching slightly. Was she wrong to let this easily distracted little creature stay for the night? The words sounded so odd coming from its mouth.
That night, Angang happily burrowed into Mu Hanyan’s blanket. When it tried to snuggle close to Mu Hanyan, it was launched aside by an egg. Yes, Angang was very angry—it had been bested by an egg! And that despicable egg had taken the prime spot; it too wanted to sleep on Little Yan Yan’s soft chest!
"You despicable egg! Move over, that’s my spot!" Angang hissed angrily, pointing a paw at the egg on Mu Hanyan’s chest.
The egg peeked out a little from Mu Hanyan’s chest and wobbled, as if mocking Angang’s overestimation of his own strength.
Angang was truly infuriated! An egg dared to defy him!
Eventually, Angang... cowered.
After being launched by the egg once again, Angang finally realized that it truly couldn’t beat the egg.
Watching this scene, Mu Hanyan couldn’t help but laugh heartily. Seeing Angang sulking, Mu Hanyan scooped him up into her arms, ending the skirmish.
...
The next morning, after a hearty breakfast with Mu Hanyan, Angang patted its plump belly and bid Mu Hanyan a reluctant goodbye. Then, it flapped its wings, soared out of the window, and quickly ascended before vanishing into the sky.
Mu Hanyan watched in amazement.
Angang had left at night the last time, but this time, in the daylight, she clearly saw how swiftly Angang’s figure disappeared. What kind of Exotic Beast, or perhaps descendant of a Divine Beast, was Angang? With so many extraordinary traits and flying so fast that it vanished in the blink of an eye. Next time, she would ask Lan Feng what species Angang truly was.
After Angang had left, Mu Hanyan continued to intensify her cultivation.
Currently in Heishi City, leading families such as the Zhao and Zhou families appeared calm on the surface, but Mu Hanyan knew that beneath the surface, there were hidden undercurrents.
In her past life, although Mu Hanyan had traveled abroad and not personally participated in that great battle, nor did she know many details, something that caused the Mu Family such a loss certainly wasn’t a hasty action but a plan years in the making.
If they acted sooner in this life, what the result would be, Mu Hanyan couldn’t predict.
But regardless, a little more strength would give her a little more confidence.
