Chapter 853 - 855: Denial

Chapter 853: Chapter 855: Denial

Zhao Family.

After Jiang Jing learned that Zhao Xiu’s leg became crippled due to inadequate treatment after saving him, the guilt in his heart was even harder to calm.

A young girl with a lame leg finds it challenging to find a good marriage prospect. He heard that many people brought up matchmaking for Zhao Xiu, but the suitors were either widowers or divorced with children.

Zhao Xiu is only twenty-five, in the prime of her life, yet she ended up like this because she saved him. If he hadn’t known by accident, perhaps he would never know who his true savior was.

After uncovering the truth, aside from guilt, Jiang Jing’s mind was occupied with guilt, thinking about how he could possibly compensate Zhao Xiu.

Zhao Xiu’s parents are farmers, and her younger brother is still in school. Zhao Xiu works at a city’s food factory, doing the most laborious tasks. Clearly only twenty-five, she appears to be thirty, looking completely worn out.

This day was Sunday.

Jiang Jing arrived with some nutritional supplements.

When Zhao Xiu saw Jiang Jing, she was so shocked her jaw almost dropped.

"You, you, I..." Zhao Xiu stuttered, unable to complete a sentence.

Zhao’s dad and mom had gone out for work, and her brother went to the library to study, so only Zhao Xiu was resting at home.

"Zhao Xiu." Jiang Jing directly stated his intention, saying, "I’m sorry."

Jiang Jing placed the items in her house and said, "Thank you for saving me three years ago, and I’m sorry, I just found out it was you who saved me."

Jiang Jing considered himself eloquent, but in front of Zhao Xiu, he found himself at a loss for words. Her leg was crippled, perhaps for life; no compensation could ever suffice for such a life-saving grace.

"You..."

Zhao Xiu, surprised, stepped back, seeing Jiang Jing sincerely apologize, hurriedly shook her head and said, "No, I didn’t save you."

Zhao Xiu swiftly refused.

Jiang Jing frowned and said, "I already know the truth, it was you who saved me."

"No, it wasn’t me. Please leave." Zhao Xiu said, picking up the items he brought and pushing him out, "You misunderstood, it was Gu Mingzhu who saved you, not me."

Though Zhao Xiu’s leg made walking difficult, except for her awkward gait, she moved quickly with the items.

"Zhao Xiu." Jiang Jing didn’t expect Zhao Xiu’s reaction to be so extreme that she completely denied anything happened.

Unwilling to take the items back, Jiang Jing attempted to comfort her: "Zhao Xiu, I know everything. You don’t need to deny it. You are the one who saved me that day, carried me out of the deep mountain pass, your leg became lame because of me."

Jiang Jing looked at her leg, thinking he must take her to a big hospital; maybe, her leg could be treated.

"No, no, no, you’re mistaken." Zhao Xiu, almost hysterical, pushed Jiang Jing outside.

With a ’bang’, Zhao Xiu tightly shut the door, panicking, she said, "Jiang Jing, don’t come again. I didn’t save you, you’re mistaken."

"No, I’m not mistaken." Jiang Jing knocked on the door, but Zhao Xiu no longer spoke, biting her lip hard to keep her tears from falling. After her leg incident, she considered asking Jiang Jing for help, perhaps with money, her leg could be cured.

Before she found Jiang Jing, Gu Mingzhu approached her, warning her not to use the life-saving grace to threaten Jiang Jing with anything and said a lot of insulting things. Since then, Zhao Xiu would rather her leg not walk normally than think of finding Jiang Jing.
