The nurse lay on the ground, her body still twitching like a fish that had just been pulled ashore. Wen Wen disdainfully kicked her, sending her flying.
Seeing how fragile the nurse was, Wen Wen was about to kill them one by one when he noticed the nurses shrieking, covering their eyes, and fleeing in all directions.
"Tsk, I didn't assault you, why are you running away?" Wen Wen habitually grumbled, then his expression turned grim.
He was a man with a very active mind, and just mentioning the word "assault" made him think of what it would be like to assault these nurses...
"You all deserve to die!"
He snapped his fingers, and a flame appeared out of nowhere. Just as he was about to unleash it, a hand grabbed his trouser leg – it was Zhu Haiyang, covered in blood.
Wen Wen pondered for a moment and let the flame dissipate.
"Don't go, save me, I'm dying," Zhu Haiyang wailed hoarsely.
Wen Wen looked at Zhu Haiyang's face, then at the trail of bloody footprints left by a fleeing nurse, and seemed to understand something.
He then squatted in front of him and smiled, saying, "You must have been tortured terribly by them. The hoarseness in your voice is somewhat similar to theirs."
Zhu Haiyang's howling immediately subsided, and he looked at Wen Wen with a hint of fear.
Wen Wen smiled even more sincerely, "I didn't mean anything else. How long have you been here, and how much do you know about this place?"
"The moment I woke up, those nurses caught me. I don't know anything... I've lost a lot of blood and I'm about to die. There's medicine in that room that can save my life," Zhu Haiyang said, extending a trembling hand to point at a room without a sign.
Wen Wen narrowed his eyes, pushed his hand aside, and walked to the room's window to look inside. He saw a medicine shelf in the corner, but it was filled with psychiatric drugs.
Then Wen Wen noticed that the medicine shelf was not placed flush against the wall, and there seemed to be something behind it.
Wen Wen froze for a moment, then carefully examined the layout of the entire room and murmured, "This looks like my work... Did I come here before?"
He stood there for a full minute, then walked back to Zhu Haiyang, his doubts now even greater.
"I have a question: how did you know there was medicine in that room?"
"I... I..."
Zhu Haiyang's eyes flickered, wanting to explain, but Wen Wen gave him no chance. He directly picked up the naked Zhu Haiyang, kicked open the door, and threw him inside.
Whether it was a trigger or not, several ropes instantly bound Zhu Haiyang, and a steel bar pierced through his body, impaling him entirely.
Wen Wen, standing at the doorway, observed for a moment before entering with a sense of assurance.
"What are you doing? If I die, you'll be the one who killed me!"
Zhu Haiyang became furious. Even with his body pierced, he struggled powerfully, showing none of the weakness he had displayed earlier.
"Alright, stop it. Your words have too many loopholes. You should be a female nurse, right?"
Wen Wen walked up to him, grabbed his hair, and forcefully peeled away a large portion of skin from his body, revealing the flesh soaked in blood, looking exactly like the other nurses!
"I don't understand what's going on with you all, but I assume you catch living people, peel off their skin, and then replace it with yourselves, right? The victims whose skin is peeled off become one of you."
"The nurses who maintain that state for too long will become withered or even die. Only by finding new skin can you maintain your appearance..."
"The nurse with the most blood just now must have been the owner of the skin you're wearing."
The bloody nurse stopped moving. Since Wen Wen had seen through her, any further defense was meaningless.
Wen Wen used the wooden stick to lift her chin and asked, "Now I want to hear the truth. Where is this place?"
The nurse chuckled eerily and said, "This is hell... You are indeed more powerful than us, but we are merely the lowest-class beings here. No human can survive here. The more powerful you are, the more miserable your death will be..."
Wen Wen raised his eyebrows. "Inner world?"
After exploring for so long, Wen Wen had discovered that this was definitely more than just a space constructed by superpowers.
But the nurse just kept smiling eerily, showing no intention of answering Wen Wen.
There was no point in asking further. Wen Wen suspected she didn't know what this place was, so he wanted to ask about things that concerned him more.
Wen Wen removed his fake beard, wiped off the drawn-on wrinkles, and brought his face close to hers, asking, "Have you seen me here before?"
"Ah... ah..."
The nurse let out a pig-like wail, looking at Wen Wen in terror and saying, "I didn't do anything, I don't know anything!"
She struggled violently, not ceasing even as the wound was constantly widened by the steel bar.
Upon seeing Wen Wen's true face, her mental state had already become abnormal.
Seeing her reaction, Wen Wen had gotten the answer he wanted. He had indeed been here before!
But strangely, Wen Wen had no memory of this place. He had been unconscious for a period of time back then, but that period shouldn't have left such a deep impression on this fellow.
"When did you see me, and what was I doing when you saw me?"
Wen Wen continued to press, and simultaneously grabbed her shoulder, emitting a chill. This would prevent her from tearing open her wounds and dying due to excessive movement.
"You are... you are..."
Before she could finish, black tadpole-like patterns spread from her wound, quickly covering her entire body.
Then, her entire body disintegrated, and flesh and blood scattered everywhere!
Wen Wen's pupils widened slightly, staring intently at the steel bar.
The steel bar had a faint black sheen, and the sheen seemed to wriggle like tadpoles...
"This is poisoned... or something else."
Wen Wen looked at the steel bar with some apprehension. If it was a trap he had set, he would never use something so lethal!
He walked into the corridor, picked up Zhu Haiyang's clothes, tore off a piece of cloth, and carefully wrapped one end of the steel bar. After observing for a while, he confirmed that the poison had not penetrated before confidently picking up the steel bar.
His sword and some equipment were in the containment facility, so this heavily poisoned steel bar was perfect as a weapon.
After preparing his weapon, Wen Wen pondered, "If it were me, under what circumstances would I design such a meaningless trap with something this good..."
"Unless... I had lost control back then, and the purpose of setting this trap was just for fun..."
Wen Wen arrived at an answer that made him a little scared, but he quickly became excited again.
Although his confusion had grown, it was also more challenging and more interesting.
