Drip, drip, drip…
In the pitch-black room, with all windows covered, a young woman was suspended upside down from a ceiling beam.
A small wound on her pale neck from excessive blood loss. Thick, nearly coagulated blood dripped from the wound, falling into a cleaned paint bucket below.
Her expression was filled with fear, her face a picture of wronged terror, utterly pitiful.
A tall, thin man in a white coat, with a neurotic smile on his lips, stood beside her, holding a horn-handled knife, his hand trembling slightly.
Of course, he didn't have Parkinson's; he was simply excited.
"Please let me go, please," the woman weakly implored.
"Still have the energy to speak? No, too dangerous." The man plunged the knife into the woman's abdomen, causing her to roll her eyes.
The woman's expression turned venomous. Four sharp teeth protruded from her mouth. Like a salted fish hung on a line to dry, she struggled violently.
"I'll kill you! I will definitely kill you! I'll drain your blood, not just yours, but your family's, everyone you know, I won't spare anyone."
It turned out the bound woman was the monster, a vampire active in various fantasy works. And the tall, thin man with the villainous aura was named Wen Wen, a 'normal' person.
At least biologically, a normal human…
Wen Wen shivered, startled by the female vampire. He took out a spray bottle and doused her with holy water…
The holy water hissed like it was poured on a hot iron as it hit her, creating a burst of white mist. It weakened her but caused no substantial damage.
"Hmm, this should be safe now, as I am quite fragile."
Wen Wen let out a sigh of relief. Even for him, capturing a vampire was incredibly thrilling.
"You, you're practically a devil," the female vampire said weakly, her strength sapped by the holy water.
"No, I'm not a devil. You are," Wen Wen corrected her earnestly.
Confirming the female vampire was completely unable to resist, Wen Wen rolled up the sleeve of his right arm, closed his eyes. A black substance, like mud, oozed from the pores of his arm, forming a pair of pure black gloves.
The gloves were long, reaching his elbows, like lady's gloves. On each of the five fingers were golden rings, and a larger golden metal ring was at the wrist.
"Are you a superpowered individual?" the female vampire's eyes widened, looking at the black gloves.
Wen Wen shook his head, then nodded. "Perhaps."
"Then you're trash. As a superpowered individual, to deal with a low-level vampire like me, you have to resort to such despicable methods," the female vampire said with disdain.
"You have a point."
Wen Wen nodded in agreement, then grinned and stuffed a head of garlic into the female vampire's mouth…
A month ago, Wen Wen felt he had some mental issues and, on someone's recommendation, found a well-regarded private psychiatric hospital.
The treatment went smoothly until a session of hypnotherapy.
Upon waking from hypnosis, Wen Wen found the entire psychiatric hospital deserted, with only him remaining. He had also established a connection with a mysterious space.
That space was a colossal prison named the Calamity Shelter.
Wen Wen's consciousness could enter the space, wandering the first level, but it was meaningless as there was nothing inside. To make the space useful, at least one prisoner needed to be confined within.
Well… Wen Wen didn't know how he knew this, but he just did.
He had tried a rabid dog that bit people indiscriminately, drunks fighting on the street, and even murderers in prison, but the Calamity Shelter showed no interest in them.
Clearly, only supernatural beings could elicit a response from the space.
Fortunately, Wen Wen wasn't entirely an ordinary person. Due to his work, he had encountered some similar matters and knew the world wasn't as simple as it appeared.
Previously, he would have shied away from such things, but now he intended to actively hunt them.
And his first target was the female vampire before him.
Capturing a vampire wasn't easy, but it wasn't as difficult as Wen Wen had imagined. Even as a human without superpowers, as long as he found the right method, there were ways to deal with these monsters.
He went to a church and stole several barrels of holy water and some blessed crosses. He also prepared some items rumored to be effective against vampires.
Then, he set a trap in a place rumored to be frequented by vampires and staked it out for several days, finally capturing this vampire.
After capturing the vampire, he hadn't let his guard down, continuously draining her blood and weakening her with holy water.
Even if drained of blood, vampires wouldn't die, but blood was their source of power. As long as he kept draining it, she would have no strength to resist.
Wen Wen had to remain vigilant, after all, even an extremely weakened vampire could easily kill him!
Now that he had completely subdued the vampire, the next step was to confine her in the shelter.
Wen Wen aimed his gloved hand at the female vampire, attempting to channel the power of the Calamity Shelter.
The Calamity Shelter didn't come with an instruction manual, but controlling it wasn't difficult. Wen Wen simply tried to extend the shelter's power outwards, and a force spread from the glove, falling upon the female vampire.
This was likely scanning her. After confirming she had no ability to resist, the change occurred.
Several black chains emerged from his glove, binding the vampire at a painfully slow speed and dragging her towards his palm. The female vampire's body twisted unnaturally as she was pulled into Wen Wen's palm.
However, halfway through the absorption, it got stuck!
The rope Wen Wen used to bind the female vampire was taut, and it was this rope preventing the vampire from being fully absorbed!
Wen Wen was speechless: "...Can't even deal with a rope. How useless. If I hadn't weakened her, attempting direct absorption might have been disastrous."
With a sigh, Wen Wen supported the female vampire's hips and legs with his hands, laboriously cut the rope, and only then fully absorbed the female vampire.
"Now let's see what changes happen to this Calamity Shelter."
Before Wen Wen could even wipe his sweat, a cold, emotionless electronic voice sounded in his mind, and then he vanished from the spot.
