Chapter 707 The Meatball Pac-Man

The great disaster is approaching…

Tao Qingqing shivered, recalling the nauseating feeling she’d experienced upon entering the jurisdiction of Xihong City.

Having been by Wen Wen's side for so long, her personality had changed considerably.

Now, she rarely thought about how many more people she needed to save to gain her freedom from Wen Wen. More often than not, she treated life as Wen Wen's errand runner as her daily routine and sought to find some amusement within it.

The impending events in Xihong City might make her daily life less interesting, so she wanted Wen Wen to resolve Xihong City's problems as soon as possible.

Black energy transformed into thin threads, binding all the crows. Then, Wen Wen activated the abilities of the Ox-Goat demon, directly igniting the scarecrow and the Three-Eyed Blood Crows upon it.

The Blood Crows seemed highly flammable. As flames touched their wings, they were quickly engulfed entirely. Then, their bodies exploded, and a wisp of black smoke shot into the sky, leaving behind an unresolvable pool of bloodstains on the ground.

Following this, Wen Wen got into the car and told San Zai'er, "To Xihong City."

Tao Qingqing asked curiously, "This scarecrow was clearly killed nearby. Aren't you going to deal with it?"

"I don't know what manufactured that 'scarecrow,' but it should be like the Three-Eyed Blood Crows, an anomaly born from the abnormal environment here.

"Finding it, let alone resolving it, would be easy, but it would take time. In fact, it might even be slower than the rate at which these things are born.

"With that time, it would be better to go directly to Xihong City and find the 'source' of the abnormality in this area. Only by restoring the environment to normal can there be a possibility of resolving the issue."

Tao Qingqing brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and sat quietly in her seat. She still didn't quite understand, but she didn't ask further questions.

Wen Wen opened the car window, his expression grim.

According to the records of the Hunter Association, someone once broadcast the truth of the world to everyone in a sealed city to see what would happen in the end.

The people were sensible and did not cause any disturbances due to panic. The city's overall order remained as stable as before.

However, from that day on, strange occurrences began to appear in the city. Some small monsters, whose origins were unknown, started to persecute the city's residents.

Some were sun-dried on balconies like cured meat, others were impaled on flagpoles, and many more simply disappeared without a trace.

At first, they were only small monsters, but those things grew stronger and stronger. Even those who knew the truth could not save their lives under such circumstances.

Eventually, the Hunter Association erased the memories of all ordinary people in the city, and the诡异 changes finally ceased.

According to the intelligence Wen Wen found in the Hunter Association's files, the current situation in Xihong City was the same as that city, in the stage where monsters were gradually increasing.

Some of these monsters came from the inner world, while others were agglomerations of negative energy or emotions. Killing them without addressing the source would never be enough.

Furthermore, the ordinary people in Xihong City were unaware of the existence of monsters, so the cause of this abnormal change remained a mystery. What Wen Wen had to do was to find the source of that thing.

"When the human heart is unsettled, anomalies arise, and chaos will ensue… I would like to see what is causing this disturbance."

The outline of Xihong City could already be seen from the car window, but Wen Wen's expression changed, and he immediately closed the open window. In the next second, a swarm of fist-sized locusts rushed in, crashing into the black sedan. The foul-smelling green fluid instantly turned the black car into a colorful mess.

After the commotion died down, Wen Wen emerged from the car, looking thoughtfully at the departing swarm of locusts.

He then glanced at the colorful insect corpses on the car, his lips twitching.

"You two drive the car into the city and find a place to wash it clean. If it's not cleaned, I don't want this car anymore."

Then, Wen Wen leaped high into the air, and countless wisps of mist emerged from him, forming a cloud that lifted Wen Wen and carried him towards the direction from which the large locusts had come.

He had no intention of chasing down the locusts. While the large locusts could hunt small creatures like praying mantises, they were, in the end, merely derivative species like the Three-Eyed Blood Crows. They posed no significant threat to humans before forming into large swarms.

And before the source was resolved, these locusts could not be eradicated.

However, what caught Wen Wen's attention was that the locusts earlier were not moving forward normally, but were fleeing in terror.

They were so terrified that they crashed their bodies into pieces, wanting only to escape that direction from afar. Therefore, there should be something significant in that direction.

During his flight, Wen Wen could sense some kind of sinister entity waiting for him ahead.

Suddenly, Wen Wen felt a pulling force, and the 'cloud' beneath his feet became somewhat unstable.

Then, Wen Wen saw a large mass of flesh in the ditch ahead. The flesh mass opened a huge mouth, and a powerful suction emanated from it.

Upon closer inspection, he realized that the flesh mass was actually a deformed human with a belly the size of a granary, but with a head and limbs of normal proportions, like an inflated rubber glove.

On its belly grew an oval-shaped mouth filled with sharp teeth. The inside of the mouth was pitch black, and it was unknown how much it could swallow.

This giant flesh mass emitted a strong, putrid smell of locusts, indicating that it had devoured a considerable number of them.

"You like to eat? I'll give you something tasty."

Wen Wen took out a large satchel of explosives, lit the fuse, and threw it towards the giant flesh ball.

As Wen Wen had expected, the flesh ball swallowed the satchel of explosives.

A few seconds later, an explosion sounded from within the flesh ball. Its enormous body became distended, its skin cracked open, and it was covered in lava-like patterns.

However, the changes stopped there. The explosives, capable of collapsing a building, only changed the flesh ball's appearance. Its aura had not weakened in the slightest.

But as the flesh ball changed, Wen Wen sensed a fleeting, peculiar aura, which convinced him that this entity was directly related to the anomaly in Xihong City.

"Ran into the main culprit so easily?"

"Am I lucky or unlucky?"

While Wen Wen was pondering, he saw a small opening crack open at the lower back and hip area of the giant flesh ball. A stream of red gas was ejected, and then the massive body actually stumbled and took flight.

"Is this… Pac-Man?"

If one ignored its short limbs and head, the giant flesh ball did bear some resemblance to Pac-Man.

Wen Wen shifted his body slightly, dodging the colossal Pac-Man. He formed his right hand into a sword finger, and black sword energy flickered unsteadily between his fingers.

Then, with ease, he drew a massive gash on the side of this giant flesh ball.

It was as if he had given the entity another mouth!
