“Who!”
Wen Wen startled, swinging his dark wings backward with force, but they met nothing.
A wisp of black smoke quietly circumvented Wen Wen’s wings, then drifted to his ear and said, "You've been targeted by the Hunter Association. I can help you escape from here."
The black smoke’s voice was ethereal and unstable, making it difficult for Wen Wen to guess what kind of insubstantial body could produce such a weak voice.
"I've been targeted?"
Wen Wen found it hard to believe. He was well aware of the arrangements here; as far as he remembered, there were no hidden traps laid out.
The black smoke let out a strange laugh. "This is a trap set by the Hunter Association. The moment you stepped into this prison, several pairs of eyes were already on you."
"Why should I trust you?"
"I am a servant of the Lord. I simply don't want you to fall into their trap."
The Lord…
Could it be the Diffuse Angel?
Wen Wen blinked. His purpose for coming here to break into the prison was to establish contact with the Diffuse Angel.
If this wisp of black fog was indeed someone from the Diffuse Angel's side, then why would he still need to break into the prison?
However, Wen Wen was not a fool; he wouldn't just trust anyone who appeared. Although this black fog seemed unremarkable, its strength was not to be underestimated.
Wen Wen was currently using the fallen angel physique, which meant his strength was not at its normal peak. But the fact that this entity could approach him from behind so silently was enough to make Wen Wen wary, just based on its stealth alone.
But what it said about being targeted…
Wen Wen expanded his senses, inching them forward, and while he didn't perceive any definitive threats, there were indeed a few areas that were indistinct.
This caused Wen Wen's expression to become solemn. Any difference from what he understood indicated that the arrangements here were different from what he knew. Therefore, those indistinct areas either had special arrangements or harbored immensely powerful super-beings.
"Then… lead the way."
"Heh heh, I'm not leading the way. You have to go yourself."
Before Wen Wen could understand what 'going yourself' meant, countless white webs rose from all around, turning the area into something resembling a spider's lair.
A giant spider covered in hard armor was circling on the webs, making the place even more impenetrable. It seemed that Sifurumo’s strength had grown considerably since his last collaboration with Wen Wen.
This confirmed for Wen Wen that this was indeed a trap. As the white webs spread, the auras of two other High-Order super-beings appeared, in addition to Sifurumo.
The combined might of these three alone gave Wen Wen a significant headache. And most importantly, there was a big boss present…
An invisible, colorless attack silently shot towards Wen Wen. Its immense power was enough to crush him.
This attack originated from a man wearing a blue hoodie with a wave pattern and curly hair. If Wen Wen hadn't known a little about his abilities, he might not have even noticed the attack…
This "Wave Man" was a True-Order powerhouse.
He had come to Menxia Province with the Vice President of Tianzhu and the Barrier Master, his codename being 'Volant'.
Compared to the Barrier Master, his presence was very low. Wen Wen hadn't expected to encounter him here.
Seeing the attack approach, Wen Wen’s hair stood on end. The energy of the black body, mixed with the power of the fallen angel, formed a black shield.
Then, the attack collided with the shield and dissipated silently, causing the ground within a three-to-five-meter radius around Wen Wen to sink by more than a meter!
The black shield dissolved into energy fragments and vanished into the ground, but Wen Wen had ultimately managed to withstand the blow.
Without the power of the black body, relying solely on his fallen angel physique, he would have been pulverized by this attack.
Volant brushed his natural curly hair and said lightly, extending his hand toward Wen Wen again, "Waves…"
The invisible power surged towards Wen Wen like ocean waves, making Wen Wen’s expression turn somewhat grim.
The spider webs around him prevented him from dodging widely. And while he could withstand the first attack, he might not be able to withstand the second.
Did he have to retreat shamefully into the Containment Facility?
Would his plan be thwarted at the very first step?
Just then, the black smoke that had been blowing on Wen Wen's neck earlier suddenly drifted to his front and threw out a cloud of ink-black smoke.
The invisible attack, upon hitting this smoke, vanished mysteriously, without causing any disturbance.
Volant raised an eyebrow. He had initially thought he would be dealing with the fallen angel with one wing, but it now seemed that this unnoticeable wisp of fog was the real threat.
The indistinct black fog suddenly grew larger, enveloping everything around Wen Wen.
A small wisp of fog transformed into a tiny mouth by Wen Wen's ear and said, "Keep walking directly east. The Lord is waiting for you."
Sifurumo and several other super-beings launched their attacks in succession, but their attacks vanished silently after hitting the black fog.
Seeing this, Wen Wen’s heart was put at ease, and he ran east according to the black fog's instructions.
Meanwhile, the black fog drew fire at its location. Unfortunately, no matter how hard Sifurumo and the others tried, they couldn't budge this seemingly fragile black fog.
Volant did not attack, merely frowning in the direction Wen Wen had left. After just that one attack, he realized that even his full power would be of no use against this black fog.
After Wen Wen had left, the black fog re-condensed into the shape of a middle finger, provocatively flicked at Volant, and then swaggered out of the Fanquie Prison.
Sifurumo and the other two High-Order super-beings tried to intercept it, but Volant stopped them with a gesture.
"It's useless. You can't catch it… neither can I."
"That's an unfathomably strange entity."
…
The black fog happily drifted eastward, pleased to have completed another command from the Lord.
It had originally been a wisp of mist that naturally surrounded the Diffuse Angel. After following the Diffuse Angel for a long time, it naturally developed intelligence and gradually improved its strength, evolving into the True-Order level.
However, its True-Order status was quite superficial. It could only converse with people and couldn't touch anything.
From a certain perspective, it was just a wisp of black fog with intelligence, as it couldn't even kill an ant.
But this didn't mean it was useless.
Beings that reached the True-Order level, although varying in the intensity of their abilities, generally adhered to the standards of True-Order.
The black fog had almost abandoned all abilities except for intelligence and speech, retaining only one special ability. With this single special ability, it could stand on equal footing with other True-Order beings.
The name of this ability was…
The black fog could shield designated targets from all attacks below the Cataclysmic level.
It could block both mental and physical attacks.
Although the target itself could not reach outward with their attacks, they were absolutely safe when enveloped by the black fog.
