The nearby residents had long been dispersed by the Hunter Association, leaving only this group of demons.
Dispersing crowds was always the Hunter Association's specialty. They could discreetly scatter residents without disturbing the monsters, a skill that was almost a "bug" in its professionalism.
After the bearded demon hunter finished speaking, from a considerable distance, two assistants pulled back the canvas of a truck. Revealed behind the truck was a "Tofu" M24 rocket launcher!
This rocket launcher could carry eight rockets, with enough power to level River Willow Villa and its surroundings.
It was named "Tofu" not because of insufficient power, but because its enemies were as fragile as tofu.
Normal rocket launchers had a wide kill radius, making them unsuitable for urban use. However, the fuel for demon-hunting rockets had many substances effective against demons. Thus, while the explosive power itself wasn't exaggerated, its lethality against demons was enhanced by a notch.
The demon hunter squad led by the bearded man had been professionally hunting demons for over a decade, and they knew exactly how to deal with this kind of foe.
The rockets were launched, accompanied by blinding light and thick smoke, landing within River Willow Villa. One rocket was enough to collapse the building.
Then came the second, third, until all eight rockets were expended and the bombardment ceased.
River Willow Villa and its surrounding area were completely flattened by the rocket fire. Flames raged everywhere, and the wails of demons rose and fell. The stench of burning flesh and post-explosion gunpowder filled the air.
Such a powerful barrage of artillery fire would, at best, only slightly reduce damage even if one hid in a basement.
This wave of attack would generally clear out all weak demons and heavily wound demons of Disaster Class or higher.
Once the scene stabilized, the bearded demon hunter waved his hand, and he and his five teammates cautiously approached the devastated River Willow Villa.
Despite the intense bombardment, there was a high probability that some monsters had survived.
Demons below Disaster Class could not withstand it, but demons of Disaster Class or above had a good chance of surviving the artillery fire.
As they got closer, they discovered a dark opening beneath River Willow Villa, its depth completely indiscernible.
Such a deep cavern could not have been created by rocket launchers. A sense of foreboding washed over the bearded man.
"Something's wrong, fall back..."
Before he could finish the word "fall back," a large black and white mosquito, about a meter in wingspan and carrying a sulfurous scent, flew out of the opening. Its sharp proboscis aimed directly for the bearded man's neck.
The bearded man let out a cold snort. The ring on his right hand transformed into a silver-white long saber, and with a single sweep, the mosquito was bisected.
However, there wasn't just one mosquito beneath the cavern.
Dozens of dark mosquitoes swarmed out from beneath the cave, their buzzing sound making one's scalp tingle.
The bearded demon hunter's hands both manifested silver blades, as he rapidly slew these mosquitoes. While their strength was not great, their movements were swift. If they were allowed to escape, it would be a disaster.
The other five demon hunters also fought to kill them. However, the sheer number of mosquitoes was overwhelming. Despite their best efforts, they managed to kill most of them, but a few still escaped the lake's perimeter and flew into the city.
Now, the bearded demon hunter could only pray that these mosquitoes were not capable of reproduction.
"Yo, yo, yo, isn't this Demon Hunter 'One Grain of Egg'?" A sharp, sarcastic voice emerged from the pit.
"My name is Du Kedan!" The bearded demon hunter's forehead veins bulged.
Another gruff voice chimed in, "But that's not 'One Grain of Egg,' that's not 'One Grain of Egg'..."
The bearded demon hunter, Du Kedan, was a demon hunter of some renown. Shortly after his birth, his mother was killed by a Disaster Class demon.
After growing up, he, his father, and his older brother formed a small group to hunt demons. This group eventually killed that demon, but Du Kedan's father and brother both perished in the process.
Afterward, Du Kedan joined the Hunter Association and became a demon hunter specializing in hunting demons.
Although Du Kedan's strength was only Intermediate Sequence, he possessed extensive knowledge of demons. When prepared, he could even hunt demons of the Higher Sequence.
He roamed the world hunting demons, and the number of demons he had killed could form a reinforced battalion, earning him a certain reputation among the demonic populace and the nickname 'One Grain of Egg.'
His current investigation in Sihu City had led to a small, not very powerful demon merchant guild, hence the scene at River Willow Villa.
Upon hearing the nickname, Du Kedan almost wanted to charge down and attack, but he managed to suppress his impulse. Cold sweat broke out on his back.
The other party knew him, and a cave was prepared beforehand to evade artillery fire...
This indicated they had been discovered long ago, and this attack might very well be a trap prepared by these demons!
Over thirty red, skinless monsters crawled out of the cave. Two of the largest monsters each carried a human figure.
The figure on the left was less than a meter tall but had a large, rectangular head. This was Demon - Hammerhead Son!
The figure on the right was nearly two meters tall, but its head was as sharp as a drill. He was Demon - Conehead Father!
"Dad, these humans are indeed bombing us first. How should we retaliate?"
Conehead Father shook his head and replied with a neurotic quiver.
"Kill them. Kill them all. Hehehe..."
...
The small monster's movements were erratic, but Wen Wen consistently kept pace behind it. When they reached the riverbank, Wen Wen smelled the scent of gunpowder left by the rocket explosion.
As an expert in explosives, Wen Wen immediately recognized that these were no ordinary bombs. He paused, and in that brief moment, the small monster had already escaped his grasp.
Then, Wen Wen heard a buzzing sound rapidly approaching him.
Upon hearing this sound, Wen Wen shivered.
If asked what animal Wen Wen disliked the most, he would blurt out: mosquitoes!
From childhood, hearing this sound made him inexplicably agitated; it had become almost instinctive.
Even as a super-powered individual, no longer worried about insect bites, his loathing for mosquitoes remained undiminished.
He had even seriously researched whether there were any runic arrays that could wipe mosquitoes from the face of the Earth!
Don't talk to him about ecological balance. Many species went extinct in the Federation every year, and the ecosystem had not collapsed.
He simply didn't believe any problems would arise from the absence of mosquitoes...
