The endless examination papers were a torment for all the students in the school.
However, for the school's principal, they were a significant artifact.
Initially, the principal was very pleased. He not only saved on printing costs but also saw the students' admission rates skyrocket, a dream scenario for any principal.
He paid no mind to whether the burden on the students was too great.
It wasn't until a student, driven to the brink by these papers, attempted to jump off a building, only to be saved by several sheets of paper just before impact, and then proceeded to lie on the ground doing more papers, that the Hunter Association took notice.
Two demon hunters were dispatched to investigate Yellow Stone Middle School. They eventually identified the anomaly's location as the school's printing room.
No one was working in that printing room, yet whenever someone went to collect papers, the required examination papers would appear at the entrance.
The demon hunters attempted to breach the printing room for an investigation. Instead, they ended up doing papers at the entrance for three full days until they were sick of it.
Fortunately, as they were not students of the school, they were not bothered by the printers after leaving the premises on the fourth day.
After numerous tests, the Hunter Association discovered that only those who needed to complete papers and those attempting to enter the printing room were forcibly issued various examination papers. Certain teachers and staff members of the school were unaffected by the printing room.
The association thus decided to abandon the school and relocate the students to another learning facility. However, this action paradoxically triggered a certain characteristic of the printing room, leading to more people being compelled to do papers.
Consequently, the Hunter Association's strategy for dealing with this containment item evolved to reducing the number of times students collected papers daily, thereby keeping the printing room's paper distribution frequency within an acceptable range.
While this still had some impact on the students' minds, it was within acceptable limits and even greatly benefited their academic advancement.
After all, one must endure hardship to succeed.
Upon receiving this information, Wen Wen was initially disbelieving.
The style of this containment item was too peculiar. It inflicted mental torment on individuals through examination papers without causing physical harm, and it even saved people when they attempted suicide.
Such a mild containment item was quite rare. However, its abilities could not be underestimated, especially since its effects spanned all students on campus, and it was yet to be determined if this was its capability limit.
Wen Wen decided to explore the school today. If he could contain this item, it would be ideal.
With this item, the education of the monsters within the containment facility could be fully automated.
Wen Wen would no longer need to create questions, conduct exams, or supervise; all of this could be handled by the entity within the school.
Moreover, this operation would also rescue all the students from the school. He believed they would be grateful to Wen Wen for saving them from the clutches of examination papers.
Yellow Stone Middle School, much like Washington University's mathematics department, had ordinary teaching buildings, an ordinary sports field, laxly-spirited teachers, and gaunt, lifeless students…
Well, the latter two aspects were not normal.
When Wen Wen entered, the school was still in session. He casually presented a piece of identification, which intimidated the gatekeeper at the entrance, allowing him to enter the campus smoothly.
As his status within the Hunter Association grew higher, the more "fake IDs" Wen Wen possessed, and the more exaggerated the descriptions on them became.
Such titles included "International Psychology Master," "Federal Major General," and "Deputy Director of Such-and-Such Special Department."
However, unlike the fake IDs previously obtained from SCP, these were issued by the Hunter Association. Anyone trying to verify them would find no fault.
Of course, demon hunters did not require any disguise to enter any location. Every Wayfarer possessed terrifyingly high clearance, but demon hunters endeavored to keep their existence unknown to ordinary people.
After entering the school, Wen Wen toured the classrooms one by one. He found that the students listened very attentively, which was rarely seen in ordinary high schools.
The teachers also lectured with great passion, and the classrooms were filled with diligently listening students, a joy for any teacher.
In reality, the students' attentive listening was semi-forced. Those who didn't pay attention in class and made too many mistakes on their papers would have their hands caned.
Although their hands wouldn't even turn red after being caned, the pain was bone-deep.
In a self-study class, students were diligently working on their papers, their focus unwavering, with no peculiar fidgeting, as if an invigilator were standing beside them.
The teacher yawned, reading a novel. At Yellow Stone Middle School, invigilation was the easiest task; no student dared to cheat or whisper during exams.
Wen Wen could sense an anomalous force flowing within the classroom, like pairs of eyes monitoring the students.
He took a deep breath and gradually heightened his perception. The surrounding reality began to blur, and abnormal presences manifested in the air.
Only when he raised his perception to a very high level did Wen Wen see the concrete forms of these entities.
Beside each student hovered an entity that resembled a floating brain.
In front of each brain were two eyeballs, and below, dense nerves and blood vessels spread out, forming a human outline.
At the end of the human outline's right hand, the nerves and blood vessels connected to a crimson fountain pen, while the left hand was connected to a ten-centimeter-long ruler.
The eyes of these entities were constantly fixed on the papers, giving the students no opportunity to cheat.
Wen Wen rubbed his eyes, and the scene vanished. He was a seasoned individual, so such sights didn't frighten him, but they did prove that the entity within the school was not simple.
After observing the students, Wen Wen found a sealed corridor. A security guard, cracking melon seeds, sat by the entrance to the corridor.
This security guard was an assistant to the Hunter Association, responsible for controlling the number of times papers were collected daily. If it was too frequent, the students couldn't bear it; if it was too infrequent, the printing room wouldn't remain quiescent.
After identifying himself, Wen Wen proceeded unhindered into the corridor and arrived at the entrance to the printing room.
The printing room looked ordinary, but it emanated a hidden, immense energy. This energy bore some resemblance to the brains monitoring the students but was vastly more powerful.
Wen Wen’s eyeballs twitched as he activated various safety measures before knocking on the printing room door.
"Hello, is anyone in there? I've come to collect some papers. I'm a detective wanting to improve my skills, and only I need to do them."
