Chapter 147: Chapter 147: I Don’t Want Lose You

Due to crying for so long that she lost consciousness while waiting for the ambulance to pick them up, Victoria now has no idea what condition her husband and Marcel are in. Upon arriving at the hospital, Marcel was immediately operated on, while Matthias and Victoria were transferred to the emergency room. Because Victoria’s injuries were not serious, she regained consciousness faster than her husband. When she slowly opened her eyes, the first thing she did was look for her husband. Strangely, her husband was not seen in the emergency room, making her even more frightened, her whole body shaking. She began to act crazy, entering one empty room after another, screaming her husband’s name.

However, one thing shocked her to the point of nearly fainting. Several nurses and doctors were pushing a bed containing a body covered in a shroud. She already suspected the body belonged to her husband. She immediately ran to the nurses and tried to remove the shroud.

"No! Matthias, don’t leave me! Didn’t you promise to go on a date with me?"

"Victoria."

Victoria spontaneously turned around when she heard her husband’s soft voice, which rang clearly in her ears. Tears of joy streamed down her cheeks. She quickly ran to her husband, who still looked fine. His forehead and left hand were bandaged, though. Finally, she could embrace his warm body, which brought her relief. She didn’t want to speak yet, wanting to savor his warmth for a while longer.

Meanwhile, Matthias stared at his sobbing wife, his heart breaking even more. He spontaneously stroked her beautiful hair, slowly calming her growing mental state.

"Tory, I’m here now. I’m alive. You don’t need to be afraid."

"At first I thought you were dead. The last time I saw you, you were hugging me and letting yourself get hurt badly. You fainted in front of me, too." Her breath was getting heavier from crying so hard. "I don’t want to lose you, Matty."

"What we really need to worry about is Marcel’s condition. Because he was too reckless in protecting us, his condition is quite serious now. Although the surgery went well, he will need to be hospitalized for quite some time."

"Just don’t act stupid again. I don’t want you to completely disappear from me!" Victoria looked around the hospital with a frown. "I have to stay in the hospital again."

"No need. We can go home this time."

Victoria’s eyes widened as she frantically examined her husband’s condition. "So, what about you? You’re pretty badly injured. You’ve got a cut on your forehead and a cut on your hand from the glass shards."

Matthias smiled casually and lifted his wife’s body openly, unconcerned that the nurses or other patients were watching them.

"Let’s just go home now."

Victoria immediately hit her husband on the shoulder. "Are you crazy? You were injured in this accident too!"

"I’m really not that badly hurt. This wound is still very minor to me. I want us to rest at home."

"I didn’t think you were more stubborn than me. You usually scold me whenever I’m stubborn!"

"Because I don’t like staying in the hospital if my injuries are only minor. Don’t worry, I’m fine."

With his car destroyed in the accident, Matthias called Sawyer to drive him and his wife home. Hearing about this unexpected incident made Sawyer’s face pale. He looked at his injured friend with a worried expression.

"By the way, is it okay if you can go home?"

Victoria folded her arms. "Sawyer was right. Is it that difficult for you to be hospitalized until tomorrow?"

"If I keep quiet, how long will I let that criminal live in peace? Now I almost lost my own assistant. And then, I almost lost my wife’s life. I’ll go crazy if the truth isn’t revealed!"

Sawyer took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. "But it looks like you should still rest. As for Marcel’s work, I’ll take over for now. You don’t need to worry."

Victoria touched her husband’s hand with a look of pity. "Matthias..."

Matthias smiled casually as he hugged his wife. "I’ll handle today’s incident. You just need to rest, as you’re recovering."

"I’m actually really curious. Did Amber go this far just to win your heart? She’s really too much!"

"I don’t think Amber did it," Matthias denied firmly.

"Why do you think she’s not the culprit?"

"Because she wouldn’t have done something this far. I know her very well. She’s not the type of woman who likes to do things so strenuously that they involve other people’s lives. Even though Amber is very evil in our eyes, she’s not the culprit."

Sawyer frowned. "If it wasn’t Amber, then who did it?"

"I definitely want to ask for your help tomorrow. I’ll discuss it with you in more detail later."

Victoria was actually a little disappointed that she wasn’t allowed to be involved in the investigation of their accident. She was perfectly capable of handling the matter, but why wouldn’t her husband allow her? This was what kept her gloomy from the moment she arrived home until she went to bed, performing her usual rituals.

Furthermore, she felt something was odd about her husband’s quiet demeanor. He usually talked a lot before bed. Was he still brooding over the unresolved issue? Especially now that the police had borrowed his car’s dashcam to track down the perpetrator who had chased them earlier.

Victoria deliberately put on a pleading expression to soften her husband’s heart before bed. She winked sweetly as she applied medicine to the wound.

"Are you sure you want to go straight to work tomorrow? Don’t you want to rest first?"

"The sooner I resolve all this, the more peaceful our lives will be." Matthias gently stroked his beloved wife’s head. "Once this is all over, I promise I’ll take you on as many dates as I want."

"But that doesn’t mean you’re hurting yourself! I really don’t like seeing you act like that. Although I’m very grateful to you for protecting me."

"I will catch that murderer soon!"
