Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Complicated Relatiosnhip

Victoria didn’t care what Lucretia said about the order; she had to carry it out quickly. Of course, she didn’t want to break up with Matthias, as the baby in her womb was his. She had also promised herself that she wouldn’t leave her husband like before. She already had a kind and loving husband, so why bother running away again? She just had to wait for the arrival of her child and the addition of a more colorful marriage.

Now Victoria’s task was to meet Jennifer. Jennifer had invited her to meet at their favorite cafe. Victoria was very curious about Jennifer’s sudden request to meet her, even though she had been the one to invite her most often. Furthermore, Jennifer’s expression was very gloomy. Victoria already suspected it must be romantically related.

"You’re rarely so gloomy. What’s wrong?" Victoria asked, sipping her matcha latte.

Jennifer took a deep breath and then exhaled slowly. "Victoria, what do I do now?"

"What’s wrong with you? Are you having a big problem?"

"Do you think... should I just let Sawyer go?"

"What?"

"This week I’m getting engaged to another man. He’s rich, but I don’t like him."

"Wait a minute! Why are you in an arranged marriage? Don’t your parents know you’re trying to mend your relationship with Sawyer?"

"Ever since Sawyer said he couldn’t go abroad with me, my parents have hated him. They say Sawyer is unreliable."

"But you can talk to them about it nicely. Besides, why did you just keep quiet if you really liked him?"

"Because I’m worried that Sawyer still hates me for what happened back then. If only I hadn’t selfishly left Sawyer, maybe I would have a child with him by now."

In fact, hearing Jennifer’s story is no different from her and Matthias’s still-complicated love story. Even now, their relationship still hasn’t been approved. Is there another way to keep her and Matthias’s love story happy? Thinking about her own love problems is already a headache, let alone worrying about her best friend’s.

"Jennifer, if I were you, I would fight your parents. But not in a rude way."

"But, how can I fight them?"

"You have to prove to yourself that you really like Sawyer. Maybe you can break off the arranged marriage and ask Sawyer out."

Jennifer pursed her lips. "But, will I survive? You know my parents are very fierce."

"That’s why you have to treat Sawyer well too. If you don’t hold a grudge against him, Sawyer will feel the same way about you."

"By the way, thanks for listening to me. But, I’m actually worried about you."

"What are you worried about? Matthias and I are still fine."

"You insensitive woman! Now social media is talking about you and Matthias being overly affectionate because of that commercial. If your families find out you’re secretly married, you won’t be safe, and your baby won’t be safe."

"Matthias will never leave me, no matter what problems we face. I’m sure he’ll find a solution."

"I still have a bad feeling about this. Even if you’re sure he can handle it, it’s going to be tough."

"Have you forgotten? Matthias has always been able to solve his problems on his own. I never even thought of all his ideas."

Although Victoria appeared confident while talking to Jennifer, she was actually a little uneasy. Would Matthias still accept her as his wife forever? Why did she have to remain stuck in such a complicated situation? If this issue remained unresolved, it was safe to assume she didn’t want this unpleasant marriage. She had hoped that marrying Matthias would lead to a happy life. However, things are getting more complicated now.

Victoria continued to meditate in her room, staring blankly out the window. She hoped her husband would pick her up soon, as she missed him terribly. As the evening wore on, she couldn’t contain her longing. Was this because she was craving her own husband?

After waiting in her office for half an hour, her husband finally showed up with a blank expression, making her start to worry. What had happened to him that he looked so sad? Has something happened at work? It was impossible for him to look sad because the video ad was trending. After all, he had been so happy watching it.

As usual, she greeted her husband with a beaming smile and outstretched arms. "Matty, you’re so late picking me up."

Matthias walked limply to his wife and knelt down. "I had some business outside the office. Sorry, you must have been waiting for me."

"It’s okay. I was really worried about you, actually." Her right thumb brushed her husband’s slightly wet eyelids. "Were you crying earlier?"

"No. I just feel tired."

Victoria folded her arms. "You really aren’t hiding anything from me, are you?"

"I’m not hiding anything." Matthias continued to smile brightly, embracing his wife affectionately. Now, it was his turn to be confused about whether he should separate from her or not.

Even before bedtime, it was Matthias’s turn to be unable to sleep, unsure of what to do. His eyes welled up with tears as he stared at his wife, who was sleeping like a baby. Since discussing their past agreement with Lucretia, would he betray her this time? Why couldn’t he live happily with the wife he loved so much?

His right hand slowly stroked his wife’s head and kissed her forehead deeply. "Tory, if I were to leave you, would you hate me?"

Still, Matthias couldn’t bring himself to tell his wife directly. After all, he was already thinking of a way to counter his mother’s overly trusting nature. If he won the bet, he would be allowed to officially marry Victoria. However, if the outcome was the opposite, he would have to give up his beloved wife.

The next day, Victoria met with her stepmother in person to discuss the video circulating online. This time, she wanted to try to negotiate a deal to save her relationship with Matthias.
